Got a recommendation from a friend to try this place. Walk in with my kids in the middle of the afternoon. No staff to be seen. When we finally spot a lady behind in the kitchen we I asked her if she is open. She starts rudely saying we are closed. A little confused we ask her why her sign says the business is open until 10pm then. Well that was a very disappointing experience. Just walked out and left. Really bizarre. Hard to conduct business when you treat new or existing customers that way.

Authentic Japanese restaurant ran by an older Japanese couple! Really enjoyed their beef sukiyaki bowel and their natto sushi! Ordered 3 times in one setting because it was just so darn good! Stable comfort Japanese food close to my house! My fav take out spot!

A definite must try. I drive all the way from North Burnaby to eat here. Small, mom & pop place that is very fresh and authentic. Real Japanese people, serving real Japanese food. Great portions and reasonable prices. I recommend the House Special Roll, it’s jam packed full of good stuff!

Bang for the buck little hole in the wall restaurant! They mostly serve take outs so the dining area is a little limited. But other than that, they have quite a good selection. They close early though.

Finally a place on Broadway that is fantastic dollar value! I have trouble finishing what i order some times. The owners are adorable and when I showed them their Unilocal score, they freaked out and were so happy that their location was on the internet. She kept asking me over and over again if I had put them online to which I explained to her that it was her happy customers, not me. I would check these guys out if you are looking for traditional Japanese made sushi and similar dishes. I had their teriyaki chicken with rice and it was both delicious and filling. Their take-out containers are really unique which only added to the cute little experience I had here.

Get the sukiyaki don or chicken curry udon — nothing better after a chilly walk at Jericho! Run by an older Japanese couple, this tiny restaurant offers prompt and polite service while juggling a massive volume of takeout orders. I recently moved away from the area and Teriyaki Bowl is one of the things I miss most!

3.5÷5 Pretty expensive for small-ish portions. Taste is okay. My favorite part of this restaurant, though, is the variety. There are Taiyaki and Takoyaki and a lot of other Japanese food that are not found on menus elsewhere. Very authentic(actually ran by a Japanese store owner). Small eating space(only 4 tables) and can get smoky/hot inside. Takeout takes about 15 – 25 minutes to prepare sometimes. Overall, okay for a quick meal, and very good for some snacks.

Came in for takeout lunch. Ordered the Terriyaki bowl. Great quality and cheap. I’ll be back.

Came in for a quick lunch. Convenient location on Broadway. Udon was amazing. The place is really small though. Four tables with four seats. Good spot for a quick lunch, but not well suited for groups. I’ll come back for sure. Lots of good specials and interesting stuff left to try. Cheap and delicious

Classic little HITW with authentic Japanese food & atmosphere. Add to that the charming waitress who likes to speak to everyone(including herself) in Japanese and you have an experience that’s Very Vancouver. Nigiri, Teriyaki bowls, Temaki, Gomae, Sashimi it’s all delicious and quite reasonably priced. I have family coming from Back East this summer and I’m going to bring them here to show that Vancouver is more than just mountains & beaches,

I am Japanese. These guys are as legit as it comes in vancouver. They have been doing it for thirty plus years and are one of the few Japanese run sushi places around. It is rare to be served by a couple that loves what they do and are really good at it.

I came in by myself today and had the teriyaki chicken bowl with rice. The food came very quickly and consisted of 6 small sliced pieces of chicken on a bed of rice, topped with only a single inch long piece of broccoli. Taste wise it was nothing special. The bill came to $ 5.50, so certainly a cheap lunch but also not a filling one. The lady serving me was an older Japanese woman. I placed my order in English and asked her a couple questions as I was paying and she would only reply in Japanese. I don’t speak a word of Japanese and I have never been confused for Japanese before. I wouldn’t be upset about this at all if we just didn’t speak the same language, but she spoke to every other table in the restaurant in very clear and fluent English. I won’t be back.

Got takeout for dinner: teriyaki chicken bowl, prawn ten don and some sushi rolls. Teriyaki chicken was awesome — really tasty and good quality for the price. Sushi rolls were ok and tempura was a bit soggy but that’s somewhat expected with getting it as takeout. It was all pretty legit authentic Japanese food which is important to us. Will definitely be back to try more! So glad to find this in our neighbourhood.

This location was a pizza place for a long time. Many owners came and went and the pizzas where never any good. Now, its clean, tidy and the food is great too. I ordered a starter and three roles and it came to just under $ 17. The new owners, husband and wife, seem really sweet and genuine. It’s great to have a sushi place at Broadway and Alma.
