After reading the reviews on here I wasn’t sure what to expect for my first visit to the Chocoholic Buffet. I’m happy to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was a girls night of drinking wine and having dessert. The name Chocoholic Buffet conjured up images of Homer Simpson in the land of chocolate. While not that extensive, the 2 tables were packed full with a wide assortment of yummy cakes, pies, pastries, cookies, mousse, and the infamous crêpe station. I’d heard alot about the crepes from friends and online reviews and I have to say they were amazing — especially with the caramel ice cream and Grand Marnier cream. For $ 28 I think it’s a great bargain for a night of indulgence. I’ll definitely be back.

It used to be good then they moved the huge spread up the few steps to a smaller area. Something was missing. It just didn’t feel like a buffet anymore but simply, a dessert table. I can’t believe that the River Rock casino had a better dessert area and their buffet sucked. I was really looking forward to the crepes but the crêpe lady just wasn’t into being there. The crepes were half-assed(not cooked thoroughly) and she didn’t offer any ice cream. Why put the ice cream behind her if she wasn’t into serving customers? Move the whole thing to the front so we could at least help ourselves like all the other toppings. She could’ve cared less and was more interested in talking to the hostess. I can’t believe that this is the Sutton. Ever since after the weekend manager argued with my mom about a bone/tooth in the sausage during a lunch buffet, the service just wasn’t the same. He blamed it on the supplier and went into this whole story and offered 10% discount. Meanwhile, we have the wine club card which entitles us to 50% off. So 10% was laughable.

Good idea, but unfortunately, poor execution. The quality of most of the desserts equals what you could get at Save-on Foods or the IGA next door. For $ 30 a person, we expected high quality chocolate(including hard chocolates) and a much wider variety. Some of the dessert options were especially disappointing. I love Nanaimo bars, but I can buy them anywhere in town. The chocolate croissant bread pudding seemed so exciting, but it was extremely eggy. As another poster mentioned, coffee, tea, and all drinks are outrageously priced. The best parts were 1) the beautifully cold, icy water that they filled up frequently — you NEED it, and 2) the crêpe station, as it included much more variety, including some totally non-chocolate sorbets and toppings. Live piano was lovely, but I’d have preferred higher quality chocolate.

Definitely a fun experience ! So many choices of chocolate… Cakes, cheesecakes, fondue, pecan pies, cream puffs, crêpe station, ice cream… Every dessert lovers dream! For the price you’d have to eat a lot for it to be fully worth it and I’m not sure it’s possible because you go on major chocolate overload! However, its fun for a girls night. Special occasion but for $ 28 definitely a one time thing or once every few years kinda thing to do.

I’ve binged here many times before starting as a young child. Over the years, the quality of the food-spread has diminished and seems less. Or maybe I just got bigger and we all know that when you are bigger things around you seem smaller. Something like that. Last time I was here, they had the crêpe station as well as the chocolate cake and fruit section. Starting with the crêpe station — the crêpe was not that good. The person making it broke my crêpe and slapped it on the dish like ‘i don’t give a sh*t’ style. The ice cream wasn’t that great tasting. The topping selection was fine. I wish they had caramel to drizzle on, but they didn’t and I don’t think they ever did. The other section had the cakes and fruit with chocolate fountain. The cakes themselves were okay. After a while, they kind of all tasted the same. The flour less cake is gross. The profiteroles were good, but not as good as I remembered. There was a predominance of mousse-consistency to almost all of the desserts. Actually, many things tasted very similar to each other. Flavor contrasts were low. There were some chocolate macaroons. They were not that great. I am a macaron snob though, so I wasn’t expecting a miracle. Well, all in all, it was a-ok. It is good for a chocolate craving and dessert binge. I just feel like it used to be better in the past. It would be nice if they touched it up a bit and did a re-vamp.

Pricey but good value for money. Most amazing decadent sinful buffet of flavorful yumminess. I went here for my birthday last year — consumed several million calories — and loved every single moment of it.

The crepes are terrible. The crêpe itself is of poor quality and they only serve them plain, they will not put topping in it while it’s cooking as is done with proper crepes. Instead they ask you to put toppings on yourself. None of the cakes were any good. They hardly have a better selection than what is available at Sunday brunch there anyway. The service was bad too. The host was too busy talking up one of the waitresses to pay any attention to the customers. Pity the fool who goes there without a Wine Club card.

I felt this needed it’s own listing. While it is IN the Sutton Place Hotel, all the other reviews are more regarding the hotel as a hotel — somewhere to stay the night. The Chocoholic Buffet deserves it’s own individual mention. It’s on only Thursday, Friday and Saturdays, and it’s the most decadent thing I’ve ever seen. I was taken here on a date, and I was blown away. Every possible chocolate dessert you could think of, laid before you in a magnificent spread; with chocolate fountains pouring over fresh fruit, chocolate croissant bread-and-butter pudding, crepes filled with chocolate(and whatever else you may fancy). I can’t even remember all the things that were there. While yes, at $ 26/person it’s pretty pricey for dessert, it’s one of those indulgences that are worth doing at least once. Note: I wouldn’t come here after dinner. I’d come here on an empty stomach and a massive sweet tooth.
