The Rolf Method of Structural Integration (in Vancouver, BC) is the re-education of the body through fascial (deep tissue) manipulation and movement, inviting ease, greater range of motion, and the ability to respond to the world and its stresses with balance and integrity.
It seeks not external physical symmetry nor perfection, but a new relationship to the body, and addresses pain and discomfort resulting from injuries or chronic conditions.
Through the manipulation of the fascia — the elastic soft tissue that surrounds all of the major systems in the body — with manual pressure, the fascia becomes more fluid where it was once stuck. Space is created between muscles and joints, long-held holding patterns unwind, and the body realigns itself to a place of better balance and more ease of movement.
Structural Integration can be useful for conditions such as … back pain, sciatica, back & shoulder tension, neck pain and stiffness, jaw pain or TMJ discomfort, tension headaches/migraines, plantar fasciitis, nerve pain, muscle cramping, whiplash, tight and/or tense/stiff muscles, muscle spasms, immobility, joint stiffness, post-surgery (6 months) recovery, fibromyalgia, body weakness, unstable/hypermobile joints, rsi (repetitive stress injuries/syndrome), tendonitis, scoliosis, muscular imbalances, weak core muscles, bulging discs, arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, connective tissue stiffness, scar tissue, post-partum issues, constipation, depression, and chronic fatigue.

I became a certified practitioner of the Rolf Method of Structural Integration in 1997 with the Guild for Structural Integration in Boulder, Colorado, and Sao Paulo, Brazil. I maintained a practice for 13 years in the Comox Valley, BC, and have taken my passion for this work to the mountains of India, Grecian terraces, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the west coast of Vancouver Island. I currently reside and practice in Vancouver.
What interests me about Structural Integration is not just pain relief, but the potential for changing the relationship to our physical experience and, through that, our relationships to our ever-changing inner and outer worlds.
This method is about supporting people to find freedom. We are amazing creatures with boundless potential. I feel most alive when I remember this, and when I see others remembering the same as they discover wisdom in their own body, and its capacity to heal itself.
