My husband purchased a Groupon for me to use at VCMT, which was advertised as a «60-Minute Relaxation Massage». After all the stress and craziness from planning our wedding and then having to go back to work where I’m on my feet all day long, I was excited to finally get a chance to go and de-stress and get all the knots kneaded out of my shoulders and legs. I’m going to start off by saying that the student I was paired with was great. She was friendly and knowledgable and really thorough. However, the assessment that she was required to perform took over 20 minutes. Following that, she had to go and speak with her supervisor so I waited on the table for about 10 minutes for the massage to start. When she finally came back and began to massage me, I realized instantly that I wasn’t going to get very relaxed due to the fact that she was required to ask me a series of questions throughout the duration of my massage, which by then only lasted maybe 25 minutes. She wasn’t even able to get to all of the areas where I was feeling stressed the most, so I left feeling just as ache-y as before! My suggestion to VCMT and Groupon would be to change the wording of your advertising so that people don’t go in expecting a relaxing full 60 minutes of massage and then leaving disappointed, the way that I did.

I have called consistently for 2 days now with no answers from any extension I have tried. After the first few calls I left a voicemail detailing the appointment I was hoping for(time slot, kind of massage, name, phone number, etc.) so technically I think they could have booked the appointment with the message I left. I did receive a call back which I unfortunately missed, but they didn’t leave a message to say whether the appointment was possible or if they were booked up. Nothing. So I called a few more times, left another voicemail, and consistently called again today with no replies. I’m frustrated now and have taken my frustration to Unilocal. You can ignore my review and try their services for yourself… if they’ll bother to pick up your call.

Looking for an inexpensive way to treat yourself to a rub-down? Well, look no further. This is a Student Massage Clinic, which means that the to-be Registered Massage Therapists give massages for a low rate of $ 35/hour. Your first visit will not render a full hour of massage. As they are students, they are required by their instructors to complete an evaluation or assessment chart on their«patients»(that would be you!) prior to the actual«treatment» or massage. The assessment takes approximately 15 – 20 minutes, depending on your student therapist. Bear with them, because the next time you see them, you will very likely get your full hour of massage. The massages here tend to also be more specific to your«problem areas». The students will ask you if you are experiencing specific pains and aches so they may«treat» you. It is their task, as students, to practice identifying and tackling certain issues, rather than providing a general relaxation massage. If you are not fond of this, please do not waste your time at this clinic. As for moi, I enjoy any form of rub-downs. I liked getting information about my muscles — where and why they are tighter, causing pains and aches. At the end of your appointment, you will also receive a mini stretching session with your student therapist, where they will teach you some stretching methods according to your needs. I think that this is a wonderful way for the students to get their practice, and for the rest of us to take advantage of the exceptional service at a low rate!
