Y Books has quickly become a small neighbourhood gem. It is run by good natured and hearted fellow readers whose goal is to make sure you find something that you’re interested in. They support the community whenever they can, they are fair on buy outs and trades and will call you if the book you’re looking for finds its way to their shelves. First place I check when in hunting something down, I’d gladly support them whenever I can.

Nice little bookshop. Good variety of all categories; great selection of wellness, local authors. I enjoy the staff picks at the front, I’ve found some really great books. I have also sold and traded in my old book. Pam is a delight and the shop is very cozy.

I’ve been here a couple of times, and this store has the promise of being a fine book shop. It’s lovingly curated, and tidy.

The person who runs the store was super nice and friendly. The store is small, clean and very organized. It looks like a well put together book store rather than someone’s unorganized basement. My issue is that there isn’t much selection in the specific sections or prime selections. I actually walked out with nothing of interest, however, my sister found something she liked.

Stumbled upon this new, used bookstore(that sounds odd, but it’s true!) and was really pleased with the selection, organization and cleanliness of the place. So many used bookstores are dingy or even downright dirty, with books piled everywhere so you can’t find a thing. Not this place! Owner is lovely. The books I purchased were well priced and in excellent condition. Will be back soon!

Well jesus, as if I didn’t love my neighbourhood enough, they went and threw in a cute as a bug’s ear used bookstore. Just try getting me to move anywhere else now. Just TRY. I’m so excited to see this little addition pop up on 27th& Main. I’m moreso excited that when I wandered in, balancing coffee and pizza box haphazardly that I wasn’t immediately booted out of the place. And I’m literally shaking with excitement that the first thing I found was an IMPECCABLE copy of Jose Saramago’s Blindess. For $ 6. Which just so happens to be my favourite book. This place is cute. Small but well kept. And fairly priced. As Monica noted, the paperback ranges from $ 6 – 9 and the condition is like new. Their fiction section is smaller then I hoped for, but their taste is good. I’m looking forward to watching them expand in this department. Heavy on the romance/young adult sections but that’s nothing new in the used bookstore world. Also — bonus points for having a well stocked«local author» section. Owner was soft spoken but sweet and happy to have me bounce about with my iphone for Unilocal pics. We were due for a gem of this nature and I couldn’t be happier! Grab a coffee from Trafiq and pour over the bookcases — recipe for a fantastic afternoon!

A new secondhand bookstore just opened a few days ago on Main Street at 27th Avenue. Y’s Books is a small shop, well organized with a $ 1 Bargain Bin out front. Inside the store you’ll find shelves for Romance, Paranormal Fiction, Trade Paperback, British Columbia, Local Authors, Canadian Authors, Local Tourism, Health & Well-Being, Arts/Crafts, Lives(biography, autobiography, non-fiction), Travel, History, War, Cooking, Spirituality, Children’s, Young Adult, and more(that’s all I can remember). The prices are great – I picked up a paperback for $ 5 because it(apparently) had water damage… but it must be invisible. Most of the others I picked up were about $ 10 for hardcover, and $ 8 – 7 for paperback. Not sure what some of the mass market paperbacks were going for, but the books are all in good quality. Nothing falling to bits. Everything is very gently used, and in some cases practically new. The staff(owner?) who was there was nice. She didn’t greet us, but just let us browse. When I asked questions, she answered them and was friendly. They have a debit/credit machine all ready but no website yet. She said they are trying to get a good range of everything, but hope to have a stronger focus on local and BC authors. Yay!
