Taste – A Place for Coffee

This is a great place for coffee and lots of gluten-​free baking. Everything is delicious and the new curry flax rolls are out of this world. I could them all day.

My wife and I just discovered this amazing place today! The café has a warm and inviting décor with seating inside and out. We were thrilled to find a plethora of homemade gluten free delights to accompany their wonderful coffee. This place rocks, and we will return tomorrow for a cup of Yorkshire tea and another GF delight!

I arrived in Victoria, home to study for a month, at the beginning of July. Since my arrival I’ve probably been to Taste every other day. Why? Because the coffee is great and the baking is amazing. Best of all, the baking is made with gluten-​free ingredients. I’ve had celiac’s disease for 16 years now and I swear that the chocolate pecan brownies are the best gf brownies I’ve had. However, the flapjacks are my personal favourite. Now, don’t picture in your mind a pancake, because this is a different sort of flapjack. This is British flapjack and thus, is somewhat like a granola bar, but a more moist, chewy, delicious version of a granola bar.
Taste is really lovely. A great spot to sit outside with the dog or enjoy a book inside. I like the décor and the choice of furniture, all really «tasteful,» no pun intended. The barristas are warm and friendly and although true, I did go there every other day, it was still nice they remembered all the details of my studies and asked me how things were going. Things could never be truly «going» when you are studying for the California bar exam but the flapjacks, made with gluten-​free ingredients, and a good cup of coffee certainly helped.
I can’t recommend Taste — A Place for Coffee enough. I have six flapjacks in the fridge, ready to pack home with me. I should mention they offer almond and soy milk for non-​dairy coffee drinkers. This is such a great spot and I hope it thrives so there will be plenty more visits for me whenever I am back!
