Coast Range Heliskiing

«All of the Heli-​trip companies are good, but the one the locals scrounge their pennies up for is Coast Range». This is what a season pass-​holder from Seattle told us while hanging out at the hot tub at the Westin.
My wife and I came to Whistler for our honeymoon and decided to knock off one of our bucklet list items. Had the previous 2 years in Tahoe been decent, we would probably be in Tahiti. We did some research and decided on CRH because they only take groups up to 5.
We got picked up at 745 at our hotel and met our fellow skiers and got to out pick up point about ½ hour later in Pemberton. We met our guides Tyler and Graham. They had pastries, fruit and coffee waiting for us. They then sat us down to go over the saftey gear which included the avalance transponders. When the helicopter arrived the explained the procedure and saftey rules. Never once did we feel we would be put in harms way.
They picked a peak about 10 – 15 minutes away. We booked the 6 runs option (were dying after 4), had lunch after 5 runs and paid for two additional runs. The had sandwiches, salads and soup waiting for us. Every run was on percect unbelievible terrain. For any avid skiier, this is a must do.
Only negative… we were their last trip of the season and you’ll have to wait till December.

These guys popped my heli cherry. I decided that this year I’d go big this time in Whistler. I searched around and Coast Range Heliskiing had the most competitive price. 4 runs for the price of 3 when booked before December 1. What they need is a $ 200 deposit per participant. They even emailed photos to us that same night after the drop.
Our guides were Ty and Lisa. In the morning they picked us up from the Fairmont hotel in Whistler Village, and drove us to Pemberton to brief us on using the avalanche beacons and entering and exiting the helicopter.
This was such an eye opening experience for me. We saw a Sun Dog over Old Man Glacier (sun halo indicating a leading storm), boarded through fresh untouched powder, and had lunch with the entire group to recap our experiences. Met some new friends from around the US whom we later had dinner with before going back home.
The conditions weren’t looking too good on our initially reserved day, so Coast Range Heliskiing was kind enough to change our reservation to the day before. I was okay with doing catskiing if the weather was really bad, but I had my heart set on the heli drop. Sun was shinning and the sky was mostly clear. We ended up doing 5 runs in the back country of Whistler. 5 runs were definitely not enough but enough for one day. I don’t ever want to ride at a resort ever again. Thank you Coast Range Heliskiing for making my first experience one I will always talk about and remember.

Wow. We went heli-​snowboarding with Coast Range yesterday. It was one of the best experiences of my life, by far! It was a truly amazing day!
I have wanted to try heli-​skiing (boarding) for about 15 years. Finally, the opportunity came around and we booked a day. Boy was it worth it!
Our main reason for choosing Coast Range Heli was the fact that they keep the groups smaller (limited, I suppose, by the smaller helicopter). The upshot is that the group moves more quickly than if it was a larger group (from what I’ve heard from people who have gone heli in groups of 10)
Our guides, Jeff and Tyler, were excellent! Top-​notch! Both were incredibly knowledgeable, fun and friendly. They kept us safe, and always had a good demeanor. By the end of the day, we felt as if we had made really good new friends. They were so fun to talk with.
The crew served us a delicious warm lunch in the most beautiful setting you could ever have lunch… A snowy valley underneath the insane slopes we had just descended (insane looking up at them, but not scary at all to ride).
The day prior, I was skiing on Blackcomb mountain and the snow was quite hard. I was worried that going heli-​skiing in those conditions would be a huge waste of money, and seriously thought of cancelling, and maybe losing a deposit. Happily, the team knew just where to find amazing snow. And amazing it was! A full day of the best riding I’ve ever had, and I’ve been skiing for 30+ years.
I can’t say enough about our day with Coast Range Heli. Truly an awesome experience, and probably the best money I’ve ever spent. Will definitely be saving up for another trip!

If I could give zero stars I would. I know you can’t control the weather… but these morons took it to another level. We moved our flights to extend our stay as it dumped snow. The driver insisted we were greenlit even though the weather conditions looked dismal. They had us sit in the lodge for 5 hours only to cut us at 145pm on a 2+ ft of Freshies. No apologies. No discount offer. And not willing to bump people who were on the waitlist for the following day after our horrible experience. Compared to other heli experiences… the lodge, food and staff were sub par. Awful food, no redbull? $ 1300 and they offered us cut up muffins and half a sandwich for lunch.
Stay away from these guys… after my experience sitting in their lodge I doubt you’d make it back alive of they took u up. Thanks for nothing Coast Range Heliskiing.

Heli-​skiing is pricey stuff — but once you’re decided to plunk down a grand per person for a day in the mountains, you should choose Coast Range for the best experience in Whistler.
The advantages: small groups (5 ppl max) vs. the 14 or 15 that Whistler heli packs in.
The guides are top notch — super supportive, well trained.
Lunch is great, the choppers are nice, and most of all…
They have their own territory in the mountains that is just sublime to ski on. I’ve been twice and it rocks. If you aren’t ready for Warren Miller, don’t worry — my wife skis the groomers at Whistler and did just fine.
Highly recommend this spot.
