Tantalus Resort Lodge

worst hotel ever. the worst hotel i have stayed dirty beds with hair and worst services. worst service. worst of all is the dirty beds with ye l lo wi ng etc. there r bugs in the room. aged building.

Very basic. Great if on a budget and you want to be a 15 minute walk from the lifts. Housekeeping gets to you if they can, no insight food but the front desk staff is great. They went above and beyond to help me with a botched FeEx pickup. No air conditioning in the summer!

The location is actually pretty nice and the price was economical but you clearly get what you pay for. Expect dated rooms not well stocked and thin walls. The pool was quite frigid. Parking was horrible. Our van wouldn’t fit in their garage so they have «oversized» spots in front. Half were taken by sedans and the staff wasn’t no extremely helpful in rectifying the problem. Given the cost savings this also is popular for younger (and likely louder) crowds which did not mesh well with our young children that have a quite different sleep schedule. Whistler is a great place. If you can afford it, make the trip special an pony up for a nicer place if you can. If money was really tight we would consider coming back.

Myself and 3 friends stayed here for a ski vacation. The rooms were sufficient for us, we didn’t really get the chance to use the full kitchen, but it was convenient.
For 2 nights we went in the hot tub without issue. On the 3^rd night we all got out of the hot tub with bleached bathing suits and red skin. When we got back to the room, we realized all of us were having some sort of reaction, and that there was obviously too much chemicals in the pool. I broke out in hives, my friends skin looked like it was sunburnt and the other two had itchy skin for the remainder of our trip. The next morning we all had to take extra showers and go to the store for antihistamine and it cost us a morning of skiing.
All the manager had to say was «the hot tubs are automatically chlorinated, and we’re alerted if there is a problem with the water». He also wanted to see our bathing suits and asked if we had insurance if we wanted to see a doctor.
The manager Comp’d us for the daily parking fee, which was appreciated. All in all, we’ll stay at another lodge next time.

There are pluses and minuses for most places. For Tantalus Resort:
Plus:
Location: 5 minute walk to the Village yet far enough away from the bustle.
Kitchens: Having a full kitchen helps with the pocketbook.
Size: The units in this place are huge by hotel standards.
Dogs: We were able to have our dog with us this trip!
Minuses:
Upkeep: The unit we were in had an outlet that wasn’t working and paint chipping off the trim and walls.
Noise: It does seem to attract a younger crowd that love to be up late into the night.
Parking: I hate paying an extra $ 18 just to park my car.
Will we return? Yes, I think the pluses win!

My second time in two years at this place. this is not a luxury hotel and they have few annoying things, but this is close to the lift. they have a shuttle when you given all you can in the slope, a locker for the ski and board. The staff is not very friendly, beside the shuttle drivers. But the room are decent and there is a kitchen to cook breakfast in the morning.
The internet is finally free, but you have to login very often as they kind of kick you out. The plumbing is noisy and the sound proofing is very bad. The best things is the price range, you can actually come to Whistler ski in and not spend too much on the hotel.

Do you enjoy drunk teenagers throwing up in the parking lot? Dirty rooms with sights unspeakable hiding in every crevice? Rude security guards and apathetic front desk staff? If you said yes, then Tantalus is just the place for you!
THE GOOD:
The lodge is conveniently located a short walk from Whistler Village. Rooms are spacious, and include well-​equipped kitchens. Hot water did not run out. Rates are reasonable.
THE BAD:
Cooking in your room is the only option for on-​site dining — the lodge does not offer breakfast or have any restaurant. Every amenity (wifi, parking, etc) has an additional fee. For some inexplicable reason, the hotel is only capable of creating 5 key cards per room, despite the fact that many of the rooms sleep 6 people. Rude, drunk high school students swarmed the front lobby every evening.
THE UGLY:
One of the travelers in my party found old, used kleenex and old socks stuffed between the mattress and the wall of her bunkbed.

* Even though there were 4 people in our party, they gave us a suite that could comfortably house 6 people… yay!
* In our suite, when you walked in, you first saw the kitchen, then beyond that was the sitting room with the TV, and doors out to the balcony. To the right was 2 bunk-​beds, with a washroom right in front of them. If you walked straight though that room was a room with 2 double beds… so it was quite spacious!
* It’s not situated in the village, but was just a short walk from it – the Westin being the first thing you saw when you walked up the hill.
* They have a meeting room, which you can book.
* Lobby is very cozy.
* Reception is accommodating.

* We were on the first floor, so the balcony was more like a patio… but it felt kind of sketchy at night, especially for someone like myself who likes sleeping with doors/​windows open… like anyone could come into our room if the door was left open…
* We had a view of another building, but if you asked I’m sure you could get one of the pool/​tennis courts/​mountains.
* Pertaining to the floor-​plan that we had, if someone was a early riser (like myself) and wanted to use the bathroom, he/​she would have to disturb the people sleeping in the bunk-​beds to access the bathroom and the kitchen/​exit of the room… again this differs as each suite is not the same.
Now although it was good value for the money, I probably wouldn’t stay again unless I was in a big group. But for big groups and/​or families, this lodge comes highly recommended, because you get a lot of space for what you are paying.

. Front desk staff we very good. Hotel is a little on the older side and common areas are a little worn. I did like the fully equipped kitchen (the only thing I needed out of there was the corkscrew) and the beds were comfy.
The location was good, not really in the Village so is was nice and quiet.
The pool and hot tub are heated and open year round.
The downsides are parking. They charged us $ 18 a day to park and the only parking available was down in the sub-​basement, and it was full of water and we almost had to swim to get to our car. The wifi you have to pay for and although it’s only $ 5/​day, it just seems like they want to nickel and dime you to death.
I would stay again though.

I’ve stayed at Tantalus twice with friends on trips to Whistler and I would definitely recommend it and come back.
Location — it’s minutes away from the Village. About a 10 – 15 minute walk so not bad at all. There is a free and frequent shuttle during the day that goes back and forth from Tantalus to the Village so it’s super convenient.
Rooms — we’ve stayed the 1B/​1B and 2B/​2B units before. The kitchenette comes stocked with pots, pans, dishes, mugs, cups, placemats, wine glasses, utensils, coffee pot, kettle, dishwasher fluid, trash bags. pretty much all you need to bring is your own food, drinks, and PAPER TOWEL*** important! The bedrooms come stocked with extra pillows and blankets. Bathrooms also have towels, shampoo, conditioner, soap and blowdryer. The couch in the living room pulls out to a full size bed. The entire suite is well sized and you never feel crowded. I would say their décor is quite plain and the whole lodge has an «older» feel but it still feels very clean and comfortable. Lots of closet space and storage space to hang your jackets etc.
Snowboard/​Ski gear — they have a complimentary locked storage room to store your gear here since they are not allowed in the suites
Parking — there is an underground parking lot available for additional fee per night (i think ~$ 20/​night?)
They offer WIFI but you have to pay the fee.
There’s an outdoor hot tub and pool directly across from the main lobby. I’ve never used it but the hot tub is especially popular in the winter: P
Employees are friendly and personable. I’ve never had a bad experience here and would recommend it to anyone looking for a home-​y and comfortable to stay in Whistler close to the village! Great for families or groups of 4+.

We came up to Whistler with the ski school I work for. This isn’t a location that I normally would have picked as I’m more familiar with the Village, but this location ended up being better than I think we would have otherwise found. The lodge is very close to the slopes (just up the hill a bit from the Westin) and incredibly quiet. I love quiet. There’s nothing like actually being able to sleep when you’re on vacation for the first time in 12 weeks.
The main lobby is warm and welcoming. There are a lot open seating areas with couches and tables and an awesome fireplace. The staff is very nice and accommodating; I’ve also never found the desk unattended, which is actually very rare considering a lot of the properties that I’ve stayed at seem to have «desk hours» for their staff that does not seem to extend past 10 PM — not very useful when you’re in town in the middle of the week looking for somewhere to eat.
The units are older, but they are nice. These are «real» condos. We stayed with another instructor in a two bed/​two bath unit. There is a decent sized, full kitchen as well as a formal dining room and living room. — great for travel with a few friends or even a family. They also have free Internet! I found a computer in the lobby that requires payment, but if you have a laptop, log right on to the WiFi.
If you’re looking for excitement, central location, and hip/​updated, this is not the place for you. But if you’re looking for a leisurely vacation, good family spot, and a hidden gem, I highly recommend Tantulus.
