This place is always fun. We came in on Monday for retro night. We were the first ones here but we decided to stay anyway. We grabbed the first of many Molson Canadians that happened to be on special and grabbed a table. Eventually many folks showed up and a killer game of flip cup even broke out right in front of us. In short, this place never fails to entertain us and is a staple of our Whistler vacation. Give them a try!

Tommy Africa’s is a joke during college weekend at least. I paid 25 to supposedly skip the line and wasn’t allowed in the club because it was at full capacity. No refund, no entry, and forced to wait in the same line as those who didn’t spent the 25 for quick entry.

Are you looking for a teenage dance party filled with toques, Aussies and hip jewellery then you’ve found your spot. Tommy Africa’s on a Monday night is the place to be. You start the night off with getting a way cool«I love Retro» stamp. Way cool right?! Then you can check your coat for $ 2.50 to reveal your spaghetti strap tank top but remember to keep your toque on! Totally retro hits keep you hipster hand throwing all. Night. Long. The décor is like a successful seedy strip club so don’t event worry about selfies– you can look at yourself all night this room of a thousand mirrors. You don’t even have to dance to look cool they got Jennifer Lopez’s Waiting for Tonight green lasers blinding you for days. If they run out of their special shots don’t worry you can get white girl wasted with any of their gun liquor specials. Have fun!

The bouncers here are outta control! I’m from San Francisco CA and I went here to have a good time. I ended up being man-handled and took a kick to the stomach so hard I drive heaved for two minutes on the cold ground after being thrown out on the snow. My story is that I’m a clothing designer and the accessory that I was wearing was a camel pak dance outfit. One if the bouncers saw the tube and said, «can’t have that here, you have to leave.» Fine it’s their bar they get to make the rules. The guy escorts me to the coat check and takes my coat and shirt that I had checked in and walks outside in the snow. The bouncer asks me to come out, I tell him ‘I need my shirt and jacket then ill come out’. This causes him to grab my arm, put it to submission lock, then the bouncer delivers a swift knee to my stomach like some MMA ninja. I’m carried out then tossed in the snow, with my cloths. I dry heave for a few minutes, collect myself and go back to the hostel. I filed a complaint with the Royal Mounted Police to complain about the treatment. The file is #WP13−1518 On coming back to the hostel, I learned that this happened to another individual.

ok, 80’s party was out of control, in a good way… but the $ 10 cover, expensive and WEAK drinks and the mandatory coat check for $ 3.50 were ALL a WEEEBIT annoying.

My girlfriend and I came to Whistler for a stagette last weekend and spent our Saturday night in Tommy Africa’s. We had a truly great night and received amazing customer service. Staff was very friendly unlike in many places in Van. Tommy’s manager Jeff was super professional and absolutely charming. The crowd in the club was super fun. We will be back to Tommy’sw every time we are back to Whistler and will recommend our friend to visit it any time they are in town. Cheers!

Love going to Tommy’s especially on Mondays for 80s night! Free face painting on these nights! Great atmosphere. Price of drinks can be expensive but what do you expect, it’s Whistler! If you’ve got a drink in your hand and you’re dancing to the music or chatting it up with friends at the bar(if you can hear each other) you’ll have a great time! Like I said, it’s Whistler and you’ll never go home regretting it… err unless you go home and look at the photos on your camera lol.

3.5 stars Came here for NYE… it was a steep $ 79 but still cheaper than the $ 120 – 125 Garfinkel’s and Maxx Fish were charging. There was no line and we had a good time. I still like this place to dance but there were some major problems: 1. I feel like they need to be a little stricter about some stuff like the pole/stage. One couple basically spent the whole night on the pole ALLOVEREACHOTHER. It was gross and no one else got to dance there. 2. People dropped sooo much glass on the dance floor and they waited way too long to clean it up. Thank God I was wearing boots. 3. They said they had a «special DJ.» The guy only played half of each song. It was really annoying. 4. I had several drinks and felt nothing… tipsy at best No one in our group did. Someone pointed out that the tequila seemed odd… everything was really watered down.

Tommy Africa’s makes me long for late nights in college frat basements. The drinks are as light as water. The coat check is mandatory(yeah, mandatory). The music is loud club anthems. If you’re over 20 or less than stumbling drunk, don’t bother.

Uhhh, hello, is there anyone out there… I visited Tommy Africa‘s twice(although I‘m not sure why) on my trip to Whistler because it is off season and there was no cover. Sunday night we walked in to a bored looking coat check girl, two bartenders tending two different bars and a DJ playing to an EMPTYROOM! Monday night was 80‘s night, we walked in and there was about 6 other people there and most of the tunes were not even from the 80‘s, it was mostly early 90‘s songs. Granted it was off season but they would probably be better off not opening the doors in situations like this!

This place is pretty fun. But I’ll let you in a on a little secret to get in FREE, In the middle of the village square by the grocery store/liquor store, look for a girl just standing around in the middle. She might be with another person but they have STAMPS. And then you don’t have to pay! This is the only way to go! This place is definitely fun to come and dance at. The problem I feel with Whistler nightlife is you have to no where to go on what nights because they all compete with one another so one place could be poppin but you leave to move on to the next bar and it will be completely dead but you just paid $ 15 bucks to get in.

My friends and I had a wonderful time dancing it up at Tommy Africa’s while visiting Whistler for the weekend. We were celebrating a friend’s 30th birthday and this spot was excellent for dancing and just letting loose. Again, they are big with coat check here, so make sure you have extra cash to give the coat check individuals. You will also need cash to get into this dance club as I believe it was around $ 10 – 15 to get in. But once you are inside, you are swept away by the music, dancing, and all around fun times. Oh, and also, if you decide to open up a tab, a minimum of $ 45 must be charged, so drink up or don’t open up a tab. My advice, bring cash!

I’ve never seen such a homogeneous collection of people. Males You will like Tommy’s if you: are 18 – 22, like wearing hoodies, like etnies and similar clothing, are a bit obnoxious yet cool, caucasian. Females You will like Tommy’s if you are attracted to the above mentioned. The DJ played a great mix of hip hop, top 40 and electronica. The drinks were relatively cheap(e.g. $ 6 corona) hence the young crowd.

$ 3 mandatory coat check. With no sign posted and no mention of it at the door. In Whistler, in the winter. Give me a bloody break. I’ll give them 2 stars because the music was decent and we had fun in the end, but can’t say I will be going back to a place that nickel and dimes my group by surprise to start the night.

Whistler Volleyball tournament this past weekend… and after a long day of playing(I was just watching) and suntanning… the party ended up at Tommy Africas… I would have liked to hope that everyone showered but the place smelled like stinky socks and gym lockers. It was stuffy and small and over crowded. Lots of mirrors that I know try to make the space larger, but ends up getting lost. Two good things: — $ 2.00 Coat check — side station for beers instead of having to wait and push for a bartender’s attention.

The last time I came to Whistler during the winter and went into Tommy’s… I spent a 100 bucks on shots for people I didn’t know, danced with boys that were way too young, and somehow stumbled back to my condo with the worst f ing hangover the next day. I think I got too old for Tommy’s.

When I think of my time in Whistler, I think about 80s night at Tommy’s. Every Monday of the 06⁄07 season you would find me and my friends living it up. Sure, it becomes a meat market and the bartenders are dicks, but somehow the seediness just added to the experience.
