This restaurant is close to my home so I have ordered food from here on occasion. First I’d like to say the best Chinese restaurant in Windsor is May Wah which you can plainly see based on the reviews. It bothers me that the same dishes here cost more than May Wah! And they are not as good… For example a chow mein dish will be 12 dollars whereas it’s 8 at May Wah… The quality of shrimp is not great… Often they have veins in them. The interior is very out dated, not a place I like to eat inside. I’ve had chicken balls, fried rices, Shanghai noodles, chow mein, sechwan shrimp, soup etc Overall there are better Chinese restaurants in Windsor that are better quality and better value… So it’s hard to choose Lone Fone.

Awful name but pretty decent Chinese restaurant on Walker Rd. Lone Fone is every bit a Chinglish phrase would be. Despite all that, it is a Chinese restaurant on Walker Rd. across from MidTown Bar and Grill(formerly Jovan’s Station) that serves up Szechuan and Cantonese style eats. The place looks like a stereotypical Chinese restaurant both inside and out. They have their own parking lot which always helps. The dimly lit dining area with their neon lights harboring the bar is perfect for an 80’s retro eatery, but kind of odd for a Chinese restaurant. The server was good but wouldn’t crack a smile at all. The menu is your standard Chinese menu with lots of Westernized Chinese options to keep the locals coming through. We ordered up a Fried Shrimp Dumpling with Crab Claw($ 4.95 each), Fried Pork Loin($ 11.95) and Chicken and Shrimp w/Vegetables($ 13.95). The Fried Shrimp Dumpling with Crab Claw was the appetizer and it wasn’t appetizing. Let me be frank. The Fried Shrimp Dumpling was actually good, but the Crab Claw that was stuck inside it was dried and not fresh at all. Didn’t even pretend to be. It had a fishy smell that lingered throughout the dumpling. Not a good taste or smell at all, which really ruined what was a perfectly good fried shrimp ball. It was also not big at all which kind of sucks for $ 5 each. The entrees were much better in comparison. I liked both dishes that we ordered. The Fried Pork Loin was wonderful. Fried slices of pork loin that were battered very lightly in rice starch or rice flour. The seasoning was great and, though advertised as spicy, isn’t too bad at all. There were some really nice plump pieces but there were also some pieces that were rock hard as well. A bit of give and take. The Chicken and Shrimp w/Vegetables was also good. There was a hefty portion of sauteed chicken and shrimp. The meat to veggie ratio was high so that was good. The clear thick sauce covered the meats and the multitude of vegetables such as broccoli, carrots, onions, and mushrooms. The dish had its fair share of nice pieces of shrimp and plump pieces of sliced chicken. If it weren’t for the crab claw and higher than normal prices, it might have registered a higher rating for me(maybe). But the entrees were good, just not spectacular. It was A-OK and that’s exactly what this place will get.
