A close friendship with a financial advisor got me started down the financial services pathway, but the ordeal another friend went through when obtaining a home loan cemented my decision to become a mortgage agent.

My friend had good credit, a good job, and should have been an ideal candidate for great loan terms. Instead of a good loan experience, what he had was one frustration after another. From broken promises to false hopes — and surprise fees that he didn’t find out about until the day before his loan was supposed to close — every exchange he had with his mortgage broker was a textbook example of how not to treat your clients.

I told myself, «I can do better than that!» At that moment, it occurred to me that I really could do better. My financial planner friend gave me a gentle shove and I decided to try my hand at mortgages — and I loved it.
