One of the Worst bar I have ever been to! IT is SO dirty and the only way you can determine which door is the ladies room is by some writing on a piece of tap. THe food is nasty and not fresh at all… DONOTGETTHENACHOS! We ordered a shot of grand marnier and its suppose to be served chilled and it was served warm… YUCK! other people get up from other tables looking to see if any other table left any food or drinks on their table!!! Do people really take other people left over food and drinks!!!

Easily one of the better bars around Windsor. Papa Cheney’s is an incredible place located in between Ouelette and Goyeau Street on Riverside Dr. The place itself is narrow but long and is a 2 story bar. The bar extends all the way to the back and has plenty of TV’s, drink specials, and great food items to keep you coming back. The service was great, friendly faces and a couple of hotties as well. Papa Cheney’s also has a nice patio at night with a nice view of the GM Towers and the Detroit River. The menu consists of your standard pub fare as well as three whole pages of just Burgers. It’s awesome. We ordered up burgers of course. I got the Buffalo BA Burger and the girlfriend got the Pepperoni Mushroom Burger. There were a variety of them and choosing just one is tough. Burger concoctions like the Big Bad Wolf(Pulled Pork, Bacon, and Pepperoni), Big Darrell’s(Chicken Tenders, Tower of Onion Rings, and Mozzarella Wedges) and even one with Peanut Butter on top. The Buffalo BA Burger is a half pound burger topped off with chicken tenders and BBQ sauce. The Pepperoni Mushroom Burger is well… come on. The Buffalo BA burger was great. The Burger is a Thick piece of meat. As opposed to having a wider burger, you get a pretty high one. The chicken tenders come smothered in the BBQ Sauce which was nice and tangy. The chicken tenders were a bit thin, but it could also have been me trying to smush the burger down to fit into a bite. The whole burger experience is pretty good and comes with your side of fries(or another side like Penne Marinara too). The Pepperoni Mushroom Burger looked every bit as good. Basically a pizza on top of a burger with the mozzarella cheese as well. The menu, though good, is pricey. You’re looking to pay at least $ 15 for a burger. The way to justify it though is to come on Wednesday. They have a 2−4−1 food day. Basically, one person orders anything on the menu and will get a second food item entirely free. For us, 2 burgers with fries costs us about $ 20. They also have a Toonie Tuesday menu where select items like a 5 oz burger or Pulled Pork Sammie are only $ 2 each. For cheap college students like me, this is heaven. Definitely make your way out here. It’s a bit hidden and parking can be crap, but this is probably one of the better bars/pubs in Windsor(food-wise) at least.

Quite obviously this is a young crowd. We were served quickly and checked on regularly. Along with some adult beverages we had 2 appetizers. The hummus plate was enormous and delicious. The pita slices were average for me while the wife enjoyed them immensely. I was a fan of the fresh made tortilla chips. We also enjoyed the deep fried pickle wedges served with ranch and honey mustard. All of the dishes we seen served looked well prepared and generous. They serve food until 2 am at least on Wednesdays so when the casino food service stops just walk a block up the street and you won’t be disappointed.

I have to admit, the name kind of scared me. I was worried that as soon as I walked in, I was going to be waterboarded. But it is a different Cheney who runs this place! It is hard to judge a place with«whiskey» in its name on the merits of its beer list, but I was drinking beer. I like how they have various sizes you can order of the beers on draft. The beer list itself was not remarkable — the best thing they have is Guinness, I had the Rickard’s Red(best of the rest, probably). The thing that makes this place special, though, is the beautiful view of the Detroit River and skyline. It is spectacular. The service was very friendly, too, and the atmosphere was chill and pub-like. Wednesday is ½ off food, I believe. Note, if you have a US credit card(without micro chip), there is a minimum amount you need to charge. Also, if you want to park in the adjoining lot($ 5), you need to have canadian coins. Otherwise, parking is ample(metered until 12 midnight) at the riverfront.

My girlfriend brought me here for dinner for my birthday. The food was great, the service was excellent, and the view of Detroit was spectacular. Definitely a place I’d go back to next time I“m in Windsor.

I asked the fella at the front desk of the hotel I’m staying in where he’d suggest I have supper … I was craving a pub. He recommended Papa Cheney’s a couple blocks away. This evening the special was all the wings and/or ribs you can eat for $ 18. I was craving wings … a dozen cost $ 16 so it made sense to get the all you can eat special. So that’s what I got. It came with six wings, six ribs, fries, carrots and celery and beans with bacon. The wings were okay. I’m not a fan of battered wings. I got them with medium sauce and they had a good kick to them. I’m not a fan of beans but did try them. The fries were really good(tossed with salt). The ribs were the best part … the sauce was also medium but were peppery. I could have had as many platters as I wanted but I found one was enough … I didn’t finish what I had. The pub was quiet … not surprising for a Monday night. My server was Chandalle and she took good care of me.

Pappa Cheney’s in my opinion is a Windsor drinking establishment. If I am bringing people in from out of town, this is usually the first place which comes to mind to take them in Windsor. There is a pretty good ambiance in this place. There are two floors, the top floor has pool tables and couches, while the bottom floor caters more towards table and chair dining. The real reason why most people go to this establishment is because of the cheap alcohol. I believe it is something like 2 dollars for a shot on whiskey, and on Wednesday some food is half off. It’s a pretty good time basically. The food is usually pretty good here, though I haven’t eaten here very often. The fish I recall was pretty decent. The only downside is, you have to get here pretty early. If you don’t there is usually a pretty long line, and they are very strict with the capacity at this place. Also the bouncers can be pricks, I have watched them literally throw someone out the door, and kick them a couple of times outside. I never really drink so much, that I have been in this position, but if you are a sloppy drunk, maybe this establishment isn’t for you. In total, I go back every so often. I mostly like the place.
