THISREVIEWISONLYFORTHECOMEDYCLUB. We went to the comedy club over the weekend. We were visiting Detroit and decided that we need a breath of fresh air. We needed somewhere without guns, with police, with flowers and laughter. We ended up in Canada. This is a fantastic little comedy club. They are currently having a comedy festival. The comedians were all really good. It wasn’t expensive. They kindly accepted our American dollars because our stupid American debit cards don’t work with their ATM(you know, we don’t have the chip that stops people from stealing all of our info) We didn’t order any food(we had poutine before arriving– SIDENOTE– PUTPOUTINEONYOURMENU. Please.). We only ordered a couple of drinks. My husband wanted coffee because of the drive back to Detroit(the passport people scare us). They brewed him coffee and then gave us spoiled milk. Doh! I hate it when that happens. The bartender was very friendly and apologetic. My husband switched to a red bull and they gave that to us for free. Very friendly, especially knowing that we are out of towners and probably won’t be back. This is a great little place and I highly recommend it for comedy. (Ouch– the blond bartender upstairs did have a bit of an attitude problem. I don’t blame this on the entire establishment. When was asked her what type of beer something was she looked at us like we were insane and responded with«it is beer». Ummm…)

Came for the Kone Pizza… but also a good place for brews and hanging out on the patio of Ottawa Street. Rockhead Pub is located in a tiny little place on Ottawa Street near Gladstone Ave. The place is pretty cool as they have a giant bar with tables and TVs located all around the place. The server/bartender was a real nice guy and sparked conversation with most patrons in the place. The menu is typical pub food but they have this one special menu consisting of Kone Pizzas. Kone Pizzas are essentially pizza dough wrapped in to a cone. Its similar to an ice cream cone but instead of sweet, you get meat… and cheese. The concept was a cool one that I had to try. They have a couple of different pizza ones as well as deli and dessert ones. I ordered the Meat Lovers Kone while the gf got the Yogurt Parfait Kone. Both cones are under $ 6 each, tax included. We also split a plate of tacos. The Meat Lovers Kone was incredible. The first couple of bites were pure bliss. The perfectly baked mozzarella mixed with italian sausage and bacon were good. After the first couple of bites though, there isn’t much meat and as you get deeper into the cone, you just end up with cheese and grease. It’s kind of a disappointing end to such a beautiful start. The gf loved her parfait cone and just gobbled it up without so much as an offer to let me try it. Oh well. The tacos were good. They were standard tacos so there really isn’t any point in describing them too much in detail. Ground Beef with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and shredded sharp cheddar in flour tortillas. Medium sized tacos which came 4 to an order. Also comes with a side of salsa and sour cream. They tasted good but nothing spectacular. I would definitely come back for the Pizza Kone again. They have other varieties that I’d like to try as well. I will also come back to try their traditional pub food like wings or the burgers. They looked real good. For now, I’ll drop 3 stars on them, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that goes up once I try some actual pub grub from the place. Looks as though this place has real potential. Spread the word.
