I was all ready to give them a solid 3 star review… A decent hotel that needs to be updated but has a great location… but then I was woken up at 8AM. 8AM Windsor time, or 5AM California time(where we were visiting from). I awoke to loud music and slamming against the wall. Strange time for a party, right? Then came the drilling, the sanding, and more slamming. What the heck were they doing in the room next door? Turns out it was actually a guy doing construction outside my window(my room was on the 15th floor) on one of those window washing rigs. The noise continued all morning, making it impossible to sleep. We complained to the front desk, but a manager wasn’t available and it didn’t do any good. That aside, the hotel seemed like it was newly acquired and hadn’t been updated. The side of the building still has a faint«Radisson» written on it, which is probably why that guy was working outside my window. The rooms offered little more than a TV(with a broken remote), a bed(with a broken«SleepNumber» remote), and a coffee maker(that worked fine!). Wifi was only in the lobby, but there was an ethernet cord available on the desk. Parking is in a public garage across the street. They offer room service, which I didn’t try, and there is a small shop/deli in the lobby, which was not very impressive. A Thomas bagel and Philadelphia cream cheese was the best they had for breakfast. The plus side to this place is its location. It’s right on the waterfront with an impressive view of the Detroit skyline. Bars, restaurants and Cesar’s Palace are all within easy walking distance(assuming the weather isn’t too ugly). The hotel also offers a shuttle to and from the casino that runs till 3AM, which is nice. It is fairly clean and safe, so don’t let the two stars deter you if you can save a few dollars by staying here. Just make sure they’re done with the renovation if you hope to get in any sleep.
