I’ve been here only twice and won’t give it another strike. First time, it wasn’t…bad, but certainly not good. I thought I’d give it another chance. My mistake. I ordered the Montréal Smoked meat poutine. The beef was mostly gristle. No, I’m not kidding. But the plus side is that there wasn’t much of it. What there was too much of, was mustard. Look, I love mustard, always have. But this thing was drowned in it! Seriously, there was more mustard than gravy. And the gravy was lumpy and cold. Not sure if there were any fries in there, I couldn’t see them for the mustard. But hey, at least the girl serving me was rude and wasn’t able to do basic math!

Awesome place. All different types of poutine. Would like to try them all but I’m only here a few times a year for business. Parking sucks and a hard place to get to. But food is great and wonder if the poutine guy is real.

I always say the only good thing that has ever come out of Canada is Bieber and poutine, but this poutine honestly sucked. Maybe it was my choice in combining hard to match American culture(the Phili cheesesteak) with Canadian culture(fries with gravy). This thing was loaded with mushrooms and I had to pick most of them off since they were awful. The«steak» was not my favorite thing in the world. But the fries were absolutely perfect. The fries saved this place from a one-star review. Maybe just stick to the original when you go here. Unfortunately I don’t think I will be back again.

If you like poutine, and i mean real poutine with shoestring fries double fried and real authentic gravy with cheese curds then don’t go to Smokes. What they serve is not poutine. It’s fries and gravy. Oh sure they have a lot of gimmicks to make you think your having a special kind of poutine experience but at the end of the day it’s just fries and gravy.

I had bacon bbq mac n cheese poutine and my husband has philly cheesesteak poutine and it was bountiful and fattening and glorious. I’m not sure what else one could possibly want from a poutinerie — there are three sizes, a myriad of fun, interesting and unique flavor profiles and friendly employees. The actual location is quite small, but there’s plenty of spots outside to pop a squat and dig in. I probably should be thankful I’m not one of the folks that works near this place, as I’d not be able to resist and therefore would not be able to fit into any of my pants.

Tried it for the first time during Jazz Fest. I had the BBQ Bacon Mac and Cheese Poutine. I tried to split a large with my friend but it was waaaay too big for two people. Can’t wait to go back!

Nothing but good things to say about this place. Brilliant restaurant with excellent food. Always hot, always delicious. It is truly a comfort food and will leave you wanting more, even if you’re full to the point of bursting.

Went for the first time today. Was immediately happy even before the food part came! Staff were incredibly friendly and outgoing. Had bacon cheeseburger and my girlfriend had something amazing with spicy chicken? It was so good that even I ate some and I usually don’t do spicy! Location is great too. We will be back.

Smoke’s hasn’t made its way west to Edmonton just yet, so it was a nice treat to grab a traditional poutine on my walk through the Exchange on a late Saturday night. The place was quite busy, which makes sense for the late night and after-bar crowd not concerned with counting calories. The traditional was a perfect late snack, and I really dug the gravy. Come further west, Smoke’s!

I was so excited to find a restaurant dedicated to poutine in my hometown. This was a must stop during my short visit and it definitely did not disappoint. Between 5 of us we shared two wow size poutines and one regular size which still left us with left overs. I noticed a sign on the way in that their much requested perogy poutine was back on the menu. This was a must try and it was ah-mazing! We also had a traditional poutine and a prime beef deluxe poutine both of which were sure to satisfy. I would eat poutine every day of the week if I could. If you have never had poutine before I reccomend starting here. From the fresh cut potatoes to the authentic Quebec cheese curds and gravy this is one of those wacky canuck things that will leave you craving more, more, more! Just remember cash or debit only please.

Visited Winnipeg and my nephew was raving about this place. I guess it’s the only place that’s popular in this city lol. I had no idea what poutine was all about when I first came in. I wanted to treat my family but they only accept debit cards or cash. Well, that’s minus star. We ordered Montréal, nanchos and chili bacon poutines. My sister paid $ 37 for these 3 large size. Expensive for just a hole in a wall restaurant IMO. The food? Nothing special. Tasted like those french fries with nacho cheese, chili beans and ham on top — aka poutine in Canada. It’s good that I tried this place and now I know that when I’m in the area visiting again I’d pass and try something else.

Only in Canada could there be a restaurant dedicated to fries, cheese and gravy a la mode! Offering a variety of toppings and variations on the Canadian classic, Smokehouse Poutinerie is still a popular place in Winnipeg. I stuck true to the Traditional and received a heaping amount of fries, piled high in cheese curds and drenched in gravy. I heard my pants sigh. I agree with others that I think the gravy is lacking. I also wish the fries were a bit more crispy to compensate for all the gravy. But overall, its still a delicious overindulgence!

We came here for late night munchies and were glad it was still open. Good thing we had a local with us as she knew where to park as there would have been no way we would be able to find this place from the street. Very limited seating and even more interesting characters. I love late-night dining. What I swallowed: TRADITIONALPOUTINE: Man, I have no idea what to order. They have SOMANYOPTIONS it’s hard to choose just one. And I didn’t want to have consumer anxiety by picking something so outlandish that I couldn’t enjoy my crispy fries. I’m so glad I did tho. My crispy fries held up to the gravy goodness and the cheese curds were just the perfect amount to not be overbearing. Not too much, not too little, just right Baby Bear. «HOWDOYOULIKEYOURPOUTINE!!!» INMAHBELLY!!! Poutine, I love you.

What a fun place. They have PICK-A-POP!!! Love the many poutine menu options. The hostess recommended the triple P — so good. My husband was plenty envious when I sent a picture of my lunch. Will be taking him here soon.

I am a fan of poutine through and through, and unfortunately my opinion of Smoke’s is nothing more than average. They definitely have an interesting offering, with a menu comprised of everything from a philly cheese-steak poutine, to a chicken fajita inspired mass of fries, salsa, and sour cream, among other things. I decided that the traditional poutine was going to be the way to go for my first visit, and I wasn’t overly impressed. It was indeed the standard poutine of fries, cheese curds, and gravy; but for some reason didn’t blow me away(perhaps based on my high expectations of a poutine-only joint). At the end of the day, we finished the entire thing, which unto itself should be an indication that it definitely wasn’t BAD. My recommendation would be that if you decide to embark on your own poutine adventure at Smoke’s, definitely try one of the specialty poutines that you can’t get elsewhere. Happy gorging!

I came, I saw, I ate poutine. You want more? Nutritional facts: Poutine is probably about a thousand calories per square inch bite. Guess what though? I’m in Canada so SCREWYOU, CALORIES! To expound: Smoke’s is a casual little joint that serves up that Canadia-land delicacy extraordinaire in about seventeen or so different variations. I opted for traditional, as, well, «when in Rome» and all that, but they’re serving up all sorts of shiz on those fries. Smoked meats and pickled things and Mexcian-ish taco-y type toppings and chili and pulled pork. I’m no native so I can’t speak to the authenticity of the traditional option I rocked out on and got busy with, but I can certain speak to its decadent, salty, cheesy delightfulness. Also, being the cheese expert I am — and I am! — I can testify to the curds’ proper curd-y nature. I bet poutine is the just the thing when one finds themselves schnockered, late night, in Winnipeg, MB. When in Rome, friends.

I was visiting my girlfriend in Winnipeg last weekend. First time in Canada, so of course I had to try poutine. My first poutine experience was in Puerto Rico of all places, and while I was excellent, I daresay it was traditional. Smoke’s serves Quebec-style poutine with 10,000 options. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger poutine, my girlfriend got the nacho one with vegetarian gravy. Holy balls… so good. This is obviously a heavy food, making it a favorite for late-night post-bar meals. We were there at about 8pm. As such, I felt the weight of every bite and was extremely full when I finished my smaller-size box of poutine. But I was also happy as a clam. The fries were crisp, though softened by the gravy. The gravy itself was savory and created a great base for the poutine. The curds were firm and squeaky. The toppings I had were bacon, cheese sauce, and ground beef. I figured it would be a good entry-level poutine that still showcased some Smoke’s originality, and I think I chose right. I’ll definitely stop for some poutine whenever I see a Smoke’s.

When in Rome… You eat poutine… and Smoke’s is the mecca of Poutine… I bow down to his greatness. It’s small and casual… with bags of potatoes stacked up in the room… Noticed a customer wrote«cowboy butt’s drives me nuts» and«I love poo» on the chalkboard… sweet, I like this place already… Kind of overwhelmed at first when I saw there was 20 different kinds of poutine(and that’s all they sell)…I chose Philly cheese steak, and they recommended the Bacon Cheeseburger poutine. Pulled up a stool and dug in… The philly cheese steak was just ok… the steak meat wasn’t great and as a whole, kind of bland… However the Bacon Cheeseburger was the BESTPOUTINE I EVERATE… ground beef, crispy bacon and cheese sauce… on top of the fries, cheese curds, and gravy… Holy…It was like winning the lottery while having an orgasm. Just good recognizable rich flavors and combined into one goulash of epicness… It is the unhealthiest food you’ll ever eat… and that’s a compliment. If you really need crispy fries, go to New York Fries. But if you want variety and the best poutine combinations… this is the spot. I will be back for the Nacho Grande poutine.
