I ate here with 2 friends for an early dinner on a Saturday. We were swayed to come in by their charming outside waiter/greeter. The restaurant seemed nice and I was happy to find a place that had a few vegetarian options. The restaurant was pretty busy but we got a nice table towards the back. There was also live music which was a very nice surprise. Food: 3 stars Atmosphere: 4 stars(I gave it an extra star because of the live music) Service: 2.5 stars I thought that the food was very average. I got the onion soup(which I was told was vegetarian) and enjoyed it well enough. It was good but definitely not amazing. I also got the falafel plat with frites and a side salad. It wasn’t bad but both the falafel and fries were of frozen food quality. Also, the«falafel» wasn’t what I would consider a genuine falafel. Instead of being primarily made of chickpeas, it was mostly couscous. This made the«falafel» nuggets very dry and crumbly(not to mention very bland). The sauce that came with the falafel was also very bland. However, both of my friends seemed to enjoy there meals. One got half a chicken with frites and the other got a croque madame. The service was only ok. Nobody was rude, but nobody was very nice or friendly either. The only problem was at the end of the meal. First, its not a huge deal, but we were brought the check without asking, which made me feel like I was being asked to leave. This is especially true since the waitress hadn’t done that to any of the other tables around us who were French speaking and had been there much longer than we had. But, she might’ve been trying to act according to what she thought we would’ve want since we were American. I’m not sure, so I’ll assume the best in that situation. However, I was very annoyed by two other«misunderstandings». First, I ordered from the fixed menu because I thought it seemed like an excellent deal. But I guess I should know better and that if something seems too good to be true, it probably is. The sign said, «entrée + plat + dessert 13 € 95». When the waitress collected my dinner plate I told her that I would like the crème brûlée. She then told me that the sign meant that you got an appetizer OR a dessert. I think that is very misleading considering the word«or» is no where to be found and there are plus signs in between the different parts of the meal. So I paid 7 € for a cup of soup and 7 € for«falafel» nuggets and potato wedges. Terrible deal! Then, I was over charged for my drink by a little over 2 €. But at that point I just want to leave and I could tell by the waitress’ expression that’s what she wants too. Definitely won’t be coming back.

Very casual, yummy Morrocan and French food served with fast, friendly service. The chicken and citron tagine was delicious. The perfect place for a quick bite, and they sometimes also have live jazz. Note that the elaborate ceiling is a historic landmark. With so many ho-hum choices in this touristy area, Chouchou is a standout.

I’ve been making my way through Paris’s onion soups. So far this one has been the best. I’ve had it twice now. All of my main courses have been excellent as well. The service is also excellent and charming.

We stumbled off the metro from CDG, checked into our AirBnB and stumbled out again, landing at Chouchou bar. We were tired and jet-lagged and the lovely guy who stands in front to rope us in was successful. Atmosphere: We got a nice table just inside — the windows were open so it was like we were outside but with a roof :-) The atmoshpere was comfortable, not loud and pleasantly bustling. I loved it. I got a campari and soda and all was right with the world. The host also did some waiter duty and he was nice to my son, so I was elated! The rest of the servers were not as charming but service was fine. We ordered escargot — I used to order them frequently from the Crêpe Bistro in Davis — a cute place run by a French expat French professor. The escargot was always divine at the Crêpe Bistro. Chouchou’s were muddy and not a good introduction for my daughter. Perhaps they forgot the step where they feed the snails cornstarch. Bleh. I am always happy to travel to get away from the aversion to anything besides cow and chicken legs. I was pretty happy to see kidney on the menu. My mom used to make kidney and it’s so good! The kidney was from a young animal and not overcooked but it tasted dirty. Double bleh. Nevertheless, Chouchou was a fine choice and the cocktail, staff and atmosphere were perfect for the evening.

Location is just by George Pompidou center and 2 minutes from a metro station, if that is not appealing enough the food is excellent. Add to that live music and you have a good idea what to expect when you seat. Service could get better but it’s Paris.

We stopped here for dinner because it was a sunny day in Paris and they have an outside patio. Sadly, we were not seated outside. Nevertheless, we ordered our food and were pleasantly surprised with the flavors and price. I ordered the lamb with fig and walnuts tagine, and hubby ordered the skirt steak with frites. My tagine was quite flavorful and came with a nice and fluffy couscous. Hubby’s frites were excellent, the skirt steak was flavorful — albeit a bit chewy. The bill for our meal was very reasonable. In fact, this is one of the cheapest restaurants we have eaten at in Paris. Overall: The service was good, they provide English menus, they take credit cards, the bathroom is clean, and the ambiance is lively. I would go again.

my friend and I were visiting paris from canada and we where looking for some french cuisine with a nice environment and that was reasonably priced. chouchou is all the above and more. the service here was very good and the food was fantastic. the staff spoke english and French which was nice. they had a fixed price menu and we both ordered the french onion soup and the chicken dish, both of which were very yummy. I wish we could have gone back to this place.

Rue montorgueil is a beautiful place for walking and hanging out. A lot of boutique shops, and petite café at every corner. Had lunch at Chouchou and it was good. The duck was prepared like a steak and didn’t taste like duck at all, in a good way. The steak wasn’t tender but the flavor and sauce topping was very good. Frites was also fantastic.

When the drizzle abated, we decided to eat outside under the awning of this randomly chosen spot. I had onion soup(for the weather — salty but good) and a skirt steak cooked medium because we couldn’t communicate what medium-rare meant. It came topped with sauteed shallots(too sweet), a blasé salad of no consequence, and very ordinary fries. During dinner, we met an old poet, Philip Sentner, who tried to ply a meal off the date. «I’m so hungry,» he said. And he did look desperately hungry and I thought, what would Henry Miller do? So I made him a deal — leave the lady alone and he could have what was left of my meal. I was not hungry and ate about a third of my steak(quite large), none of the salad, and a couple of the fries. He seemed to enjoy the meal, but of course he would. This experience with a cliché — a starving French poet — made the meal much more memorable. The food itself was ordinary.

Friendly staff, reasonable prices, street is not busy so noise is low. All the soups were very good, Chicken Tangine with lemon was very good as was the salmon wrapped in a light crust; Moelleux au chocolat, crème anglaise was excellent. Hot chocolate was also excellent. Extensive menu.

This place is only about a block from where I live in Paris, and its located on a very nice and busting street. There are a lot of choices for restaurants on this block but the menu for this one looked nice enough. It was 13.90 € for Entrée+Plat OR Plat+Dessert so you dont exactly get the full on 3 course thing. We came here for lunch on a Saturday and the waiter was extremely attentive. He brought the board that contained the items for the formule to our table and patiently explained a few things we didnt understand. Entrée: soup de l’oignon This dish was a little sub-par in my opinion. It was a tad too salty for me and there wasn’t that much cheese in it(disappointing!!) The bread still had a taste of oil/grease in it from it probably being fried or crisp-ed in oil? Not really sure. Plat: confit de canard This dish was very good. It was the the thigh of a fuck with thinly sliced potato medallions. The potatoes were roasted to be crispy and had good seasoning on it. When I ordered this dish, I wasn’t exactly sure what part of the duck I was getting. The thigh isn’t exactly my favorite so I wasn’t crazy about this dish but objectively speaking it was executed well. I’m giving this place 4 stars because of the great service, good location, and because my two other friends really liked what they ordered. It was steak with a green peppercorn sauce with frites. They loved it. I saw the other tables had really yummy looking tagine things in those big dishes… I really want to try that.

–Food= 3.8 Star –Service = 3.5 Star –Atomosphere = 3.5 Star (Maybe a little bit more because it has a terrace and great view of those wandering the streets in Paris.) –Meal Price = 5 star This was not the first choice of restaurants we wanted to go to during lunch that day. We passed by it in search for a Moroccan restaurant known for its(with great online reviews) Couscous. Sadly, the place wasn’t opened until 5pm. So as we walked back we chose this place out of all the little outdoor rustic restaurants because we saw how great the food looked as we passed by earlier. Walking the restrooms were first used. Thank you lord it was clean and roomy! The french tend to have small, ‘petite’ sized restrooms and feels very claustrophobic. I mean seriously, a toilet is a dirty place, the last thing you want to be is in a small cramped room of just a toilet right! Inhaling all that gross air and slowly causing a slow death of toilet bowl fumes! Yuck! Sorry, Anyways Major plus it was pretty tidy & roomy even if it was a Unisex restroom. We sat down and as we viewed the menu my boyfriend was quite pleased they also served Couscous. A great selection of one too! There was four of us, and I ordered the ½ rotisserie chicken with sauteed potatoes, they were actually just fried potato wedges(weird). Boyfriend the Lamb Shank and Merguez Sasuage Couscous, and his two cousins were Veggie Couscous and Steak with bernaise sauce and Potato wedges like mines. Anywho, I don’t quite remember how much their meals were but I was shocked my plate was only 11,90 Euros. My chicken was a huge amount, they slabbed on a bunch of wedges and it came with a small side salad! The Couscous came out looking great. As well as the steak. Yum. I love steak. All in all it was a worth-it resatuarnt. What made it even greater was for the 4 of us with all large meals, the total came out to be just under 54,00 Euros. Seriously, WOW! That’s usually the cost of a meal for 2 and maybe 3 if you do the conversions from US dollars. This place was not only cheap but the food tasted even better than good since it was Cheap! Who doesn’t love cheap great food? I know I do!

It’s a fine place near Les Halles and Beaubourg they have set menu and they did let me change the main course for a tagine which I was craving for. They have a terrace on the street and the service was good. The tagine was fine but I was expecting better in Paris.
