Hotel Baby is located off of a rather interesting street in a busy part of the city. We saw a lot of prostitutes. If you’re still reading, then let’s talk: this wasn’t, and isn’t, a problem for us. As stated above, the hotel was in a great section of town, just above the Opera district, and close to the Saint-Denis subway stop. We could walk to the Pompidou. We had no trouble on the street, and in fact, it was a superb location, regardless of the type of business going on a few meters away. The hotel itself was rather small and slightly cramped. What I mean is that the room was a bit tiny for two, the bathroom was too small for two people to stand in and shut the door. But we didn’t go to Paris to stay in our hotel room, and all we did was sleep there in the comfy bed. The walls were thin, so if we weren’t up before room service, we would be woken up. Also not a huge problem, since room service seemed to start at about 10:00. Fine with us. The lift could barely hold the two of us while wearing our backpacks. So if you need a lift, this might not be the place. Regardless of this not being the Hilton, I’d stay there again, no question. The staff were all amazingly friendly, and talkative even if English was not their first language. We got a great price on the room, and to be there only for sleeping was fine. A lot of people need to look out of their windows and see the Eiffel Tower… not us. The streets we were on and near gave us a ‘real’ sense of Paris, rather than the romantic fairy tale. I’m thankful for that!
