What has happened to The Beach Bar? The service is horrible and the food has really gone to the dogs.

Great location, fantastic for a drink beachside. The food is terrible, and the service is worse. The wife was pissed, so who do you think hears about it? Thanks guys. Come to this place to drink, but eat before or after.

Came here around noon for lunch, and the service was lackadaisical and really unconcerned with customer service. They provided 1 menu to us and then walked away. When they came back we ordered a drink, and asked for 2 more menus as 3 of us were planning to order food. They returned with drinks and still no menus, so we ask again, and they say okay, and then don’t come back. After about 10 minutes we go over to the bar and request 2 menus and our server hands them to us and acts like that’s the first time we requested one… she comes around about 20 minutes later, and we attempt to order food. That is when we learn they only have 2 things on the menu of about 30 items… Never mind that a beach bar and grill bothered to open their doors having no food to offer during lunch… but if you knew we’d been asking for food menus with the intention of ordering food, and we’ve tried to ask for menus 3 times, this should have come up!!! A simple start of «hey folks, food supply issues. yadda yadda» would have been more than enough, but to keep us waiting after ordering drinks for almost 30 minutes before providing that info… She spoke English as a first language so there is really no reason for such sub-standard service. After about 2 hours of hanging out by the water, we checked back with the kitchen and they added one more menu item(calamari) to the menu, so we ordered that… it was sub-par, and under cooked, and disappointingly not crispy at all. The facility itself is really cool, with an awesome layout… I can see this place being great at night when the bar is in full swing, but as a restaurant, its shameful, so many better places to eat. The drinks were good but over priced. They also boast smoothies and awesome specials on their website, and none of those seemed to be the case when we actually showed up, management and staff need to get the act together… the afternoon staff is d-rated at best.

Great location, lazy help, and worse than bar food. My wife, friend and myself all got sick. Beware of the Tuna Poke! It looks like it could be a fun place on the weekend at night for a sunset for drinks ONLY.

Great location! Service could be better. Beer came out late and warm.

We ordered a few drinks which were mediocre and a couple appetizers, the deep fried ribs and poke… The appetizers were disgusting. The location of the bar is in a good location right on Ypao Beach.

I LOVE The Beach Bar!!! We were back home on vacation and we spent almost every day here(curse you Typhoon Dolphin)! Gun Beach was a secret hideaway growing up. It used to be covered with jungle, you needed a 4×4 to get here, not really, but it helped. But not anymore, they’ve developed this place, but still kept the beauty of the beach and cliff-side front and center. As you can see from most of the photos posted, sunsets are gorgeous here. You can sunbathe(us transplanted PNW peeps need our Vitamin D), go snorkeling, play beach volleyball, grab a cocktail, and some grub. But if that wasn’t enough, you can also grab a cultural dance show!!! They have happy hour drink specials from 4 – 7(perfect timing to see the sunset) Monday to Friday. All day Saturday and Sunday, they also have drink specials. And, you can see a band playing as you sip you drink with the sunset on the beach as a backdrop! Now you know why we came here almost everyday! Actually the staff are über cool and laid back! It is island life… So if I’m on-island and it’s about 6 – 6:30, I think you can pretty much bet I’ll be here.

Ordered a seafood burger, but there was barely any seafood in the burger just something that tastes like bread crumb batter without any seafood. Probably the only thing edible was the French fries and other stuff in the menu like their local plates. Other than that service was quite slow in getting drinks, my beer was warm when the waitress served it. Saw it sitting in the bar for a good 5 minutes until she brought to the table. Not focused and no teamwork other employees weren’t doing anything that time.

This place is right at the end of the road, next to the Gun Beach public parking area. It is so easy to walk on the beach, play volley ball, catch a sunset, or enjoy a drink. gotta go see for your self.

Now that i’m back in Cali. I dream of this place! I dream that one day soon… I can drive here and watch the sunset while I sip on my drink after a somewhat grueling day at work. One day. In the meantime, I will write and rave about this place. not a shabby place for a sunset shot, great happy hour deals, and good service. I also came here to watch their dinner show and loved it! Heard they have a new one now. so gotta review that the next time I come here.

Location is fabulous! Service was bad. Two servers couldn’t decide who had our table so neither did much. Nachos took 30 minutes and our entrees came out less than 5 minutes later. The nachos didn’t have much cheese. The fish and chips were superb with the perfect amount of batter! The hamburger was big and delicious. Drinks were reasonably priced and very good. The main reason to go here is to eat outside at the beach. Just be prepared to make it a leisurely meal and don’t arrive hungry.

Ten star location! All the beers in the world seems like. Full bar with great bar food. Friendly servers and master mixologists. The thing that makes this very different is the location on the beach, hence the name. Go figure ha. This spot is next to the Spot where the last Japanese soldier held out on the hill till 1973 from World War Two, awesome ! This is one of my ten best spots on the planet

Went here on the night of my 21st birthday, I enjoyed the drinks I ordered, the atmosphere, and I got a free drink(it wasn’t intentional, I was asked to show my ID and it was noticed). Pretty cool place!

I actually arrived to Guam when this place opened up for its first night. Nothing but great memories. I haven’t been there in a while though(I moved Off-Island). So hopefully this place is still the same as when I was there? I loved the Chicken Kelaguen that they had there when they made it a menu item after they started selling more food. I say if you wanted a great place to hang with coworkers, or a nice date(during the daytime) or even a chill place to kick it after a stressful week on the job, this is that place.

The pros: it’s on a beach, so the location alone sets this place far ahead of the game. And as with any beach that allows you to enjoy the sunset with a tropical beverage while a very good live band to plays out the day, there’s little that can beat it. The cons: The quality of your experience at The Beach will depend heavily on the crowd. There have been times when I’ve been with friends and have had a very relaxing, enjoyable evening of adventure and people-watching and frolicking with booze in the sand. There have been other times where I’ve had to beg my friends to please be mindful of the gross dudes prowling the joint who seem to be looking to take advantage of someone that doesn’t have all their wits about them. The bartenders are nice, but I’ve had classier beverages made for me in red solo cups at college frat parties. As such, there’s really only one mission at the bar: get schwastey faced. All in all, it’s a fantastic place to day drink, have some chesa and listen to live music as the sun goes down, but once the it gets dark and the weirdos start showing up, I’d rather head elsewhere.

I have only come to the Beach bar during Ladies’ night, so I can only comment about the experiences I’ve had. I’ve had a good share of good times and absolutely terrible times there. A decent enough parking space. The Beers and mixed drinks are average and priced as so. The venue could get more opened since the bar area can be such a tight space, usually clogged up with drunk locals and military trying to find an easy lay. Nothing can be said about the service other than satisfactory. The Wet T shirt contest is fun to watch and would normally turn into a very wild strip show. Security close at hand at all times of course, but be warned, the participants of the contest can range from drop dead gorgeous to absolutely revolting.

The beach bar is a crap shoot. I’ve had 5 star days and 1 star days and nights. So I guess it averages out to 3 stars. As for the location, it’s right on gun beach. So there is beach access and showers/bathrooms. As for the bar service, it is, like nearly everywhere else on Guam, totally inconsistent. But service aside, it’s an OK spot. They oftentimes have live music, and offer adult slushies(the 190 or 180 octane — can’t remember the exact name — is an orange citrus burst of just liquor joy in your face). They also have beer specials and, if the island is in stock, offers a decent variety of drinks. I don’t know if they offer food in the late evenings but I’ve stopped by before for lunch when it was quiet and the service was great, food was good, and drinks were wonderful. Then again, I’ve stopped by in the late evenings with a large or small crowd and the service was horrendous, the drinks(save for the slushies & beer) were horrible.

There are hammocks and couches on the beach so you can lounge while drinking or snacking at this open air beach bar… the ambiance here is what makes a vacation perfect! While the views and atmosphere were stunning, I was really disappointed with the drinks. They weren’t very good. I like sweet-girly drinks. These were why too strong and not sweet enough. FYI — The kitchen will cook up your catch of the day.

Before a breakfast meeting in Tumon one morning, I stopped by Gun Beach around 7 am(when the bar was closed) and there were people passed out on the beach from drinking at The Beach the night before. If that’s any indication of how crazy it gets there, it might be too much for me. Having never been to The Beach during peak hours, I can’t say how crazy it gets — but it was very relaxing and nice to sit on the beach and have a few drinks in the afternoon. The bar is all open air and you can sit at the generously sized bar or by the tables on the beach. They also have a covered stage on the side for live music, though they didn’t have any when I was there. It’s right on Gun Beach, so there is plenty of parking and it’s easy to find. I heard about Gun Beach from a friend who said it’s «the place to be» in Guam, but that must be later in the evening because when I was there is was all tourists — which was fine with me. I gave this place 4⁄5 stars because the parking was plentiful, the location is very convenient if you’re staying in Tumon and the view is beautiful. But, deducted a star because the beach was not taken care of. There was empty beer cans and bottles all along the coastline, some cups under the couches in the bar area and a few pieces of trash floating in the water. If a private citizen comes and drinks on the beach, I can understand that the responsibility doesn’t fall on The Beach to clean it up. But, certainly a lot of that trash was from The Beach bar itself and it’d started to make a mess of an otherwise immaculate location.
