First time at Metro Plaza, we picked this place solely because it was lunch hour and there were seats available in a bright and attractive corner of 5th floor. C’mon, have you seen the Chinese lunch crowd on weekends? It looked clean and the color menu was inviting, not to mention we hardly see German food in New Territories side. Flipped open the menu and was taken slightly aback by the pricey entrees, but then again you have to pay premium for niche cuisines. We settled on a warm appetizer tray($ 168 hkd), pork belly sliders($ 72 hkd) and a mocktail called Hulahoop($ 58 hkd). I have to say that we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of food. The tray had a good assortment of sausages, smoked salmon, fried shrimp, and something that resembled quesadillas, all tasty, hot and fresh. The sliders were on a fluffy wheat bun and garnished with onion relish and sun dried tomatoes — excellent. The drink was just ok, but I suppose that’s what we get for not ordering beer during Oktoberfest. As we were leaving, we noticed several tables with the same 2 entrees: pork knuckles and prawn truffle pasta. I’m guessing that’s what they are most popular for and will definitely try them next time.
