Salmon, miso and poached eggs breakfast was superb. Of course that only pales in comparison with their coffee. Roaster’s lab take pride in their coffee! My double shot dry cappuccino was exquisite. My gf’s flat white was on her own words«thriving and redonkulous»

Really glad i took the trip out to this place. Really good artisan coffee, though the cappuccino was a bit too sour for my liking. Great flavour nonetheless. Good food, though it would be even better if fresh fish was used instead of frozen. Has a very lovely décor and nice staff. If that doesn’t win you over, there’s a lit candle in the bathroom so you can do what you need to do! Can’t wait to come back! For the coffee… not the bathroom!

How my girlfriend and I do breakfast in HK: she goes with me to get my traditional Chinese breakfast, you know, the preset meals of noodles and eggs & I go with her to the local gourmet cafes afterwards. We came here this morning because it’s our goal to hit up all the local coffee hotspots. She had the Portobello vegetarian breakfast $ 98 + $ 50 extra for egg whites. I had the Nitrogen coffee $ 68 And she had the Caramel cappuccino $ 42. I must admit that her breakfast beats mine hands down. She did well. The nitrogen coffee tasted like a Guinness as advertised. And her caramel was superb.

Giving it 4 stars cuz Jen K thoughts the macchiato was too sour. The piccolo latte, essentially a Gibraltar, with a bit more(1oz) milk than the macchiato, displayed good balance of sweet and sour. There’s also way more room than coco espresso. Prices are nearly exact between the 2. Support the nano roasters+baristas and avoid starfucks like the plague. Also a women-owned business.

All the toys and machines are impressive at Coffee Roastery Lab. Different brewing method to pick from. Different Grinding Machines. And even an actual coffee roaster on site. But at the end of the day, I just want a perfect cup of coffee. Macchiato($ 32) has a nice crema and the touch of milk was nicely foamed. But why the 3 star? As the espresso was unbalanced: overly sour. Sometimes it is cool to draw in customers by doing all these pour over, Siphon, aeropress, opera and what not. But the ultimate is to have a balanced cup of coffee.
