Not bad in general. It is a great location for a nice chat with friends. I love the simple design of the café. I feel completely comfortable with the black and white colour tone as well as little potted plants. I have been here twice. First time for the spinach pasta lunch set and second time for the all day breakfasts. I rather have the spinach pasta than the all day breakfasts. The pasta was al dante and the cream sauce taste good. The full brekky and avocado on taste breakfast sets tasted good, crunchy toast, poached eggs and so on but not particularly surprising for me. The drinks, hot chocolate and café latte were creamy with beautiful coffee art.

I have mixed feelings about the Cupping Room. On a rainy Sunday afternoon, my party of two did not have to wait; however, the space was full and we did share a table, which we didn’t mind. Café: — Espresso(HKD30) — White regular(HKD38) — Brioche french toast(HKD108) From what we had heard the coffee here is supposed to be very good. While I thought the white(a latte) was good, it wasn’t special. My friend seemed happy enough with his espresso. The brioche french toast was pretty delicious. A caramelized banana comes with it, as well as a scoop of mascarpone. The combination of everything in one bite was quite nice. We really wanted the avocado toast but by the time we got there it had sold out. This is not a working café. Free Wi-Fi as with most places in Hong Kong, but it is quite noisy and I didn’t notice outlets. This place is best for brunch.

This place has terrible service, and food is just so-so. I usually come here with my girlfriends because it’s a very girly brekkie place. My fiancé also took me here, because he said the coffee is like number 1 coffee. I am not a coffee connoisseur, but I know my taste buds. It is good if you like the sour kind of espresso, but I like the Italian kind of coffees — with a smoother finish, or however you want to call it. Anyway I’m not here to talk about the coffee. I am here to talk about the food and the service. First of all, you have to get the water yourself. But they add a service charge. «…» Secondly. My two girlfriends and I came here for their lunch set. We all ordered the salmon with quinoa kale salad. Two of the salmons came roughly 20 minutes into ordering while the third salmon came in roughly 45 mins after ordering. In fact, they gave us a pasta first but we told them that’s not what we ordered. Then, they came back with the third salmon. Halfway into eating the salmon, my friend pulled out a hair from in between the salmon meat and the salmon skin. She told the waitress and said, instead of giving me another plate, I’ll just not pay for the meal because there is a piece of hair in my salmon. GROSS right? So the waitress went away with the plate and came back with the same plate and said, No we can’t give you this food for free because you’re basically finished with this meal. EXCUSEYOU? There is a piece of hair in my salmon, I could sue you. So that’s my review. I hope they fix the attitude of their staff and fix their food cleanliness. I would not recommend people coming here because, ugh, gross and unacceptable. No thank you very much. Also, don’t boast about your coffee like that. Not everyone has the same taste in coffee. Just like wine, some people like red some people like white, some people like merlot some people like pinot noir… Coffees are all the same.

I came for the coffee, but stayed for one of the most beautiful and delicious poached eggs on toast dishes I’ve ever enjoyed. Perfectly poached eggs atop thick bread, along with a generous spread of fresh avocado, ricotta cheese, and radishes… all in a presentation that was near artful. It was so good that I went back the next day to have it again, only to find out they were out! Ah well — can’t blame the masses for having superbly good taste, right? The good news is, The Cupping Room specializes in a smattering of delectable egg dishes and offers them all day long. They also make a fantastic flat white which instantly brightened up a cool, cloudy morning. Seating is quite limited, but those poached eggs on toast are well worth the wait for a seat. Now please excuse me whilst I drift off in a daydream coveting those poached eggs!!!

I must say this place was underwhelming. I ordered the full brekky and when the waitress delivered the order and I started doing my thing — aka taking photos, the waitress came back and halted me just when I was about to dig in. There was another girl at the communal table who ordered the same thing. She came first so she should get the food first. Fine. Then they started fuzzing about the eggs. I liked mine over easy but the guy who took my order actually never asked me how I wanted my eggs cooked and this order came with 2 over easy eggs. The other girl wanted the eggs well done so I said I don’t mind and I will take this one. Save everyone the trouble.(Srsly, if someone already started sniffing on my food and the waitress said it was a mistake and wanted to give the food to me, I don’t think I would like that). The waitress insisted on sending the order back and cook everyone a new plate. What kind of logic is that? After some time, the waitress brought this same place back to me. Needless to say, my food is cold by now. WTF. Did I mention we were seated in the second floor of the café and walking up and down that narrow stairs is quite a hassle itself already? And then there was another incident about switching tables… I came with four other friends and when we arrived, only the communal table was available and we were seated like we were at a bar — so talking was almost impossible, if not very uncomfortable. We told the guys we would like to move to a smaller table when it frees up. We didn’t even mind to be very cozy with our friends. Nope! They insisted on giving the table to a party of three. This place has a lot of potentials but I don’t think I will return.
