This is a tiny shop with a micro-counter if you want to eat in, but best for takeout. Menu is limited to roast chicken, fish n chips, soup, salad, and a few drinks. The kitchen looks quite clean but several chickens were sitting out in the open air unrefrigerated. Thawing, perhaps? Music is cheesy dance and the place would be classed up by jazz or classic Brit rock, but you’re likely to only endure it for a few songs while you wait. I ordered the fish n chips lunch special served with a small salad for $ 88. Food itself was fine, but it seems there was a communication issue. I love nice, crispy fries. No love for limp potato. So when I asked«could I have the chips extra crispy, please?» and the guy responded«yes, sure» I thought I’d actually get them extra crispy. Nope. Good thing I went home to eat and could crisp them in my toaster oven. The fish fillet itself was solid — nice crunchy batter of the right thickness and consistency, though the fist itself was a bit flavourless. Lemon wedge and sides of vinegar, tartar, and catsup helped. The side salad was tasty and fresh and the oil and balsamic dressing tasted nice. I also like to be environmentally conscious and eco-minded when I shop and eat out, so I brought my own bag, but when I put it on the counter, the guy said they needed to use their branded disposable paper one because of the special shape and size of the to-go box. So I told him I was only going to take my order around the corner and didn’t need a bag at all. Turned away to use my phone and when the order was ready, boom there it was in the bag that I didn’t want. At least the bag and takeaway box are both paper and not styrofoam and plastic.
