This place is awesome! Love their fish balls, fish cakes, fish dumplings … they even have fried fish skins. I tried the rice noodles with fish balls and fish cakes. I think their fish cakes«ends» are the best. Very very tasty.

Authentic cheap eats To speed up the waiting process, the serve will ask you to line up outside the store and start taking your order. Once you are seated, the food will arrive quickly. There is a second floor seating. The rice noodle was soft and fresh. The egg noodle was crispy and filled with flavor. The fish balls are the signature here. All in all, good cheap eats!

I came here twice when I was in Hong Kong. Once to sit in and once to do some take out. I must say I really do like this place for noodle in soup. I ordered their special and beef ball in rice noodle. I have to say it’s pretty good here with a decent size(keep in mind i don’t eat a lot). Each bowl was about 28hkd which works out to be about 4 something CAD. To me that’s cheap. No way you can find that here. I also heard that beef balls are also made there. A very traditional place to eat in hk because I have to say it doesn’t look super clean in the restaurant but the food is really good. When you order a noodle, you can order a plate of veggie was like 7hkd. Good deal to me. They also have deep fried fish skin there too. I heard they were famous for that too. Not something I like but my friend did order some. I would totally recommend this place to others if they are around Time Square at Causeway Bay.

江仔記is a traditional fishball noodle shop that in my opinion is just as good as Tsui Wah, if not better. Located on Canal Road East, it’s only a couple minutes’ walk from Times Square so it’s at a fairly convenient location. From the outside, it doesn’t look much at all — it just looks like your typical traditional noodle shop, where hygiene is questionable but the food is always good. But give it a try — I don’t think you’ll regret it! I’ve only ever had the fishball noodles here. I know they do other things, like beef brisket noodles and ‘lou mein’, but it’s the fishballs they do best. When my family does hotpot during winters, this is where we buy our fishballs! There isn’t much service to speak of; the waiters are snappy but efficient, and you don’t have to expect to wait more than ten minutes for your food to arrive. The fishballs here are absolutely heavenly — soft but chewy, and don’t have that really gross fishy taste. The soup doesn’t taste like mouthfuls of MSG, so it’s not overly salty. The portion isn’t huge, but it’s just enough as a quick lunch for me. The only issue that bothers me about this place is hygiene — I’ve always associated Canal Road with being unclean and polluted due to all the buses that drive along it. The shop looks a little run down and in dire need of a renovation, and don’t even think about taking a peek into the kitchen window behind you. I always give my chopsticks a quick wipe before I use them. But for great noodles at such a reasonable price, I guess you can’t ask for too much!
