This place is really bad. The waiter treated us rudely and I didn’t like the food, or maybe I have different preference, one of the dish we ordered was the salty soya, it was really bad, first bite of it and that’s it. Leaving the place…

A really popular breakfast place in Hong Kong as you see the shop filled with diners in the morning and a small queue that is consistently formed outside the shop buying the sticky rice roll and soy bean milk as take-aways. If the locals are queuing, it cant be bad, right? So I decided to join in the queue and got myself one of the sticky rice roll and a cup of warm soy bean milk. The sticky rice roll is filled with the fried dough and some salty vegetable bit. Didnt really like the salty vegetable bit but the sticky rice still taste pretty good overall. The soy bean is not what we are used to in Singapore as it’s not sweetened. But the creamy and warm soy bean is just great to warm your stomach on a cool morning. With everyone just rushing pass you in Hong Kong, the little bit of warmth makes the day a little brighter and a little warmer. :) I’ll be back for more breakfast next time Im in Hong Kong!

Solid 4 stars We arrived into Hong Kong late Saturday night, and ventured out to find food around 11pm. To my surprise, a lot of restaurants in the Causeway Bay area were closed. We decided to order Thousand Year Old Egg Congee and take our food back to our hotel to eat. They were very generous with eggs and meat in the congee. *THUMBSUP* Small venue, like all typical restaurants in HK – so in other words, not much seating area in the restaurant.

Came at a lunchtime on weekday and it is pretty packed. I got the shredded ham, chicken and pork with cold noodles($ 38). It wasn’t the prettiest look dish presentation-wise, but after I mixed up the ingredients and took a bite, I was pleasantly surprised. It was really good and peanut flavored! The peanut flavor is similar to the Shanghainese appetizer of shredded chicken over bean thread noodles. These noodles were quite similar since it also had shredded chicken. It also had the stated ham, but I didn’t see any pork. In its place, I saw bean sprouts instead. Besides the peanut sauce, it had another savory sauce. The dish had just the right amount of sauce — not too much, but just enough to give the overall dish good flavor. They were efficient at finding you a seat, taking your order, and food came relatively quickly. Return visit? Yes! So I can try more things such as the Shanghai dumplings, soy milk, and pan-fried buns.
