A glance at the menu and I decided to have a meal here. The tea and the appetizer(peanuts, pickled cabbage) are added to the bill. And still, no napkins. Shanghai style noodle with seven sauces: dry noodles, slices of green bell pepper, sprouts, burdock pickled in a sweet brown syrup and seven seasoning of various flavors and texture: 1– Chili oil — spicy 2– Hoisin sauce — sweet 3– Peanut powder — dry 4– Peanut sauce — creamy 5– Sesame paste — creamy 6– Soy sauce — savory 7– Vinegar — sour Very simple noodles but the sauces allows you to make different combinations and play with the flavors. Pan fried buns: stuffed with greens and mushrooms. The buns came out pipping hot and crispy on the bottom. Located on the 10th floor, the restaurant has a beautiful view of the harbor and the Sky 100 Observation Deck. It was past lunch time so the restaurant was nearly empty. I had an interesting meal. At a table nearby, a professor was talking about abstract concepts to his guests. The kind of speech that leads to deep reflexion. Not the usual discussion you hear at a restaurant. :D

This Shanghainese style veggie spot was delicious and top notch. From décor and design to the variation and unique dishes offered, I thought this was a great experience. You have to navigate the bizarre elevators at World Trade Centre to find the one that will take you to the 10th floor. Kung Tak is also on the same floor at Ruby Tuesday, but don’t let that be a deterent in you going to this wonderful restaruant. LOL!~ Being in the life situation of eating less meat these days, what a treat to enjoy a meal at Kung Tak Lam. All dishes had great flavor. Great quality vegetarian dishes, full of unique greens, tender tofus, delicious bean curds and Shanghainese noodles. The tofu dumping was a highlight for me and was so unique… it has the consistency of butter, but was soft, syrupy and tofu filled. Kind of a party in your mouth! A special Shanghai red bean flat pancake for desert was the icing on the cake! The staff was friendly, welcoming and available. The room is designed in soft kelly greens, cream colors and has a view of the harbor. The chairs and carpeting are up to date and do not have that warn feel, as is often the case in a Chinese restaurant. The room feels bright, polished and welcoming. Menu has pictures and is also in English.
