Mango Tree

Portions aren’t exactly the largest at this restaurant, but they are filling and you’re really paying for the ambiance (cue my one fancy word per review. I think). The lamb shank was probably my favorite dish as the meat fell right off the bone upon stabbing my fork into it. It was like poking a really ticklish baby, not that I do that often, but I was one of those ticklish babies. Not anymore of course.
The satay chicken and beef were what you’d expect: grilled meat on a stick, and the scallops were cooked very well. Soft-​shelled crab did their soft shell thing, and the coconut martini left much to be desired. It tasted like straight up coconut milk, which ain’t a bad thing, but I couldn’t even smell a hint of alcohol.
Definitely recommended for a date spot with solid food, quick service, and the ambeeyontz.

This place is hidden away in elements and surrounded by luxury high end shops.
Been to all of the Bangkok branches and been wanting to try this particular branch. The food was overall OK. Ambience such as the dim lighting will already set you in the mood that the bill will not be as cheap as what you would pay for at other Thai places.
Good for 1^st dates, intimate gathering or special occasions.

Fabulous dinner tonight at Mango tree. Started with Thai shrimp cakes and pomelo salad. Just had soup with river prawns, lobster and now deep fried bass in chili sauce.
Beautiful view of the skyline and attentive service.
Highly recommend for authentic Thai dinner!

We went here for dinner on a weeknight and were pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and service. In Hong Kong, there is an endless stream of delicious food, but very few places have the classy atmosphere. We ordered a bottle of wine for the table and decided to share 3 different things. We got pad thai with egg, chicken green curry and fried chicken. The food was okay, but the atmosphere and wonderful service kept us here for a couple of hours. Not sure if it would be the first place I went back to in HK, but I did enjoy it.

tried their afternoon tea set finally! quite good! i mean. thai-​style afternoon tea! the dinner dishes are also quite good as well. ok i mean «quite good» cos their hot food is only barely warm not even hot. desserts r delicious. great view. good service. i would recommend lychee smash n mango tango for non-​alcoholic drinks, curry duck, n definitely the afternoon tea set for girls;)

My sister and brother-​in-​law recommended Mango Tree at Elements. First things first: it’s not cheap. Apparently Thai food is «elevated to an art» here, which just sounds like a pompous way of saying they’re inflating the prices because the lights are dimly lit and you’re not sitting on a stool. But, it must be said, there are a few standout dishes.
We had gone during a deal where Mango Tree paired European wines with Thai appetizers (European drunkenness and Asian finger foods? Now that’s the kind of fusion I can get on board with). We opted for a medium-​bodied red with Thai shrimp cakes served with a sweet plum sauce. The char grilled pork neck fillet too, done esan style with a tamarind sauce, is delicious. I love this dish generally because the pork neck is fatty and rich, grilled with scorch marks that should come alive from the sour, slightly spicy, douse of tamarind or lime.
We weren’t too pleased with the grilled squid, which just tasted a little too chewy and lacked all the best parts of being «grilled», fast, almost rustic, and slightly charred. The green curry too, was far too creamy for my liking, but it’s hard to come by a Hong Kong Thai eatery that does green curries as ‘watery’ (I say this lovingly) or as flavorful as ones I’ve tried in Southern Thailand.
The creaminess was again seen in the tom ka gai, the coconut chicken soup with lemongrass, galangal, and other Thai spices. That said, the subtle hints of lime and lemongrass were not lost in the coconut cream, so I give this a thumbs up.
What can I say? It doesn’t beat the real thing, of course. But it’s a praiseworthy attempt in a space that is, in all, incredibly romantic.
Good for: sexy first dates.
