Mrs. Fields Cookies

Cookies and I have been long lost lovers since I started traveling. In some East Asian countries, butter can be difficult to come across so cookies are hard, crunchy things that lack soul. When I found Mrs. Fields, I knew it was fate. I didn’t even hesitate to buy a cookie and continued to do so during my trip. I need the cookies!
This Mrs. Fields delivers the same cookies that I am accustomed to back in the States: soft, supple, melts in your mouth and fills your soul with buttery goodness. Now THAT is a cookie! I have no regrets about eating so many cookies, either! Plus, the location for this store is perfect: right in Central Station! Can’t get more convenient than that. Glad to have gotten my cookie fix on. Onto the next country!

Mrs. Field has been in my memory since I was a little kid; i still remember seeing those cookies of different sort as the highest degree of cookie perfection. I think that was also the time when i started developing my liking towards the soft and squishy type of cookies. Mrs. Field’s cookies were definitely luxury items to me, my parents were so hesitant in buying them even i asked them time over time; perhaps it is also the rarity factor that makes them cookies that much more perfect.
Yet as time goes on and I grow older, I then discover that there are a whole lot more fish in the sea; Mrs. Field’s are good, but I have had better…
Having said that, I still enjoy their triple chocolate cookies and all of their chewy types. The last thing you have to worry bout a Mrs. Field’s cookie is that they are not decadent enough; imagine a cookie that the main purpose of the cookie dough is to hold the chocolate chunks, that’s exactly how their triple chocolate cookies are like. Don’t get me wrong, their cookie dough is just as good, that’s why I also like their coffee flavored chewy cookie. They are slightly flatter and wider, but instead of being flaky and soft, the texture is more like soft caramel, it’s yields when you bite into it, but instead of breaking apart right away, chewing is definitely required. Not melt in your mouth i know, but the more you chew, the more flavor you get.
What makes me go to Mrs. Field’s more often now is due to their special offer after a certain time (which i forgot… should be around 9 – 10 pm) of which when you buy 3 cookies you can have 3 more! So after eating a few on spot, you can still save some for breakfast the next morning or for tea later. I generally would not recommend eating half a dozen of cookies that time of the night, but the thing is…
the cookies are actually quite good and it is quite tempting to have a bite on every flavor… may be that’s just me~

My relationship with Mrs Fields is less of an ‘I’m craving Mrs Fields and I want some NOW’ and more of a ‘I’m so hungry I’m dying and Mrs Fields is the only option worth considering in this MTR station’.
I pretty much only get Mrs Fields when I’m super hungry while in an MTR station. Quite a few stations have it — the Wan Chai and Central stations do, and so many of the Kowloon side stations too that I’ve just lost count. It’s a great snack to get to fill yourself up when you don’t have much time. They’re quick and easy to eat on the go, and since it’s right inside the station you don’t even have to go out of your way.
That being said, I’m actually not a huge fan of Mrs Fields. Their stuff is really, really sweet and sometimes, I feel like I’m just eating mouthfuls of sugar. Once, I let my mother try a little bit and she thought it was so sweet we rushed to a Seven Eleven to get a bottle of water so she could rinse out the taste in her mouth. It’s not THAT bad, really — my mother just can’t stand anything sweet — but after two or three cookies I can feel the sweetness welling up in my mouth.
I normally get the six cookies for $ 27. You’re allowed to mix and match, and most of the time I go for the white chocolate macadamia and the double chocolate chip. The cookies here are really soft and kind of taste like cookie dough — I personally prefer cookies with more of a crunch, but they’re fine when you’re running late and just really hungry.
Mrs Fields definitely doesn’t make the best cookies in the world, but they’re not too bad. Give them a go if you really could use a snack when travelling on the MTR but don’t have much time to spare!
