It wasn’t the best soft serve but they were cute. Plus, ice cream is a great idea on a hot, humid summer night.

I’m sorry, but this mediocre froyo/soft serve(dont even know what this is) for $ 35? I appreciate the not normally seen flavors like lavender, corn and sea salt, but none of the flavors came through. I had the sea salt and lavender… bah-land! Oh, and the people that work there? They cannot be bothered, so just leave them alone.

Ok ok, I was suckered into coming to try this despite its mediocre reviews because it looked just so darn cute! And it was raining the day I visited so I sought shelter in here as well. But nonetheless, most the reviews hold true — its just cute looking but it doesn’t taste very good. The lavender soft serve was not comparable to the lavender soft serve that I had in Japan at all, so I was disappointed. There were barely any pineapple chunks in it and the edible flower tasted like paper. Womp womp. The cone tasted like its been laid out for a while too mehh no bueno. The shop is really tiny but the décor is just as adorable and hipster as the desserts itself. There’s a little counter for customers to consume their ice cream but I don’t remember if there was any seating, probably not. It wasn’t busy at all when we came during the afternoon but I heard from the saleslady that there’s generally lines once it gets dark and the kids come out in Kowloon.

The ice cream cone has the aesthetics but is lacking in the flavor department. It’s ridiculous long queue makes it a try-once-and-forget-about-it kind of place…

Who would’ve thought that ice cream is becoming the next ubiquitous food trend in HK. Actually, I can’t say that this is an established food trend yet, since ice cream chains have yet to pull a CaliMex(expanding to whatever direction you happen to look at), but there is a fair share of new ones coming out. And they all have their gimmicks, we have the celebrity– backed honey comb ice cream with multiple locations(this has Cali mex potential), the egg waffle sundae in Wan Chai, then we have Oh! Cow in Tst. Everyone has a gimmick amd Oh! Cow is no different, their Instagram-worthy concept is ice cream topped with cotton candy, coming in custom cones bursting in psychedelic colors. The flavor is actually alright, cotton candy tastes like well, cotton candy, but the lavender ice cream I had barely hinted of lavender, due to the strong flavor of the cotton candy. The cone was a bit stale and I tossed it out, but there was a pleasant surprise of chocolate rice krispies underneath the ice cream. That was its saving grace. Next time I will likely go back to the solid Holly Brown for cold treats, though. Oh! Cow will need a much stronger emphasis on the basics if it wants to avoid becoming a try– and– forget gimmick place.
