Not authentic, localized version food. You will like it only if you are local HKer. Also, Kopi/Teh means Coffee/Tea in Southeast Asia. You will see these two words a lot in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. This shop cannot even spell«Kopi» correctly and put the wrong word«Kobi» in their name, I don’t think they can make the food right as well. I tried once and I will never eat here again. Really sorry about that.

«Ah Loi» is a Malaysian/Indonesian food outlet in Popcorn– on of TKO’s newest and most high end malls. The distinctive flavor of this restaurant hits you as soon as you sit down and notice that the decoration has a certain charm to it– it brings me back to this Noodle shop I went to in Malacca a few years back. The tiled flooring, the old magazines on the wall and some old gadgets lying around, with this very special green paint which is period for sure. You could see yourself being in Malaysia immediately. The food itself also you leaves you in no doubt what you have here– Nasi Goreng, Hainan Chicken Rice, curry of different sorts– all these are southern favourites enjoyed by many. I have been here so many times but I still find myself attracted to the chicked and nasi goreng which I find to be almost a type of soul food for me. You do have to order yourself at the front counter like a fast food restaurant but then food is brought to you eventually. This is alright with me as the wait is usually quite short. The only drawback to this place is that its not a particularly comfortable place to sit. I guess with space as a premium these days restaurants are hard pushed to squeeze as many patrons into the shop as possible and this place being so popular means that you really have to queue to go in one by one. The redeeming fact is that what you get is certainly good value– expect to pay around 60⁄70HKD per item and sometimes there are specials on depending on the time you go. This is a special place in Popcorn as most of the other places are quite mainstream and I really don’t know whether there’s another branch of this place– so for now I would say its worth the trek coming in here just to have it.
