Italian food in Hong Kong has long been very toned down and suited to local taste — a little on the sweet side, a little less oomph. However, I think this place hit a new low for me – I cannot even finish my whole dish.
What happened? I got the mushroom risotto. The arborio rice was cooked a little past al dente, but that is to be expected in Hong Kong (Hong Kongers like their rice soft!). However, it was over salted, had no flavour except for an overwhelming creamy cheese taste, and was overall quite a poor dish.
I sampled my friend’s pasta and didn’t really like it either. The years of living in the U.S. west coast have surely changed how I appreciate Italian food…
The restaurant does have a good atmosphere for those just looking for a date night. I just prefer to have good food on my dates.
