I have thick Asian hair that looks like it’s gone through a flat iron. And I crave for the casual beachy waves but I have absolutely no patience nor skills for a decent style. As such, I need to make sure my hair is cut well so that it swings into place, and requires minimum attention for it to look decent. Oh, I also forgot to mention that I cut my hair maybe twice a year, so the haircut needs to last. Enter Numayama San, imported from Japan and has been cutting my hair for more than 7 years. Numayama San has been cutting my hair since he was invited to Hong Kong by Japanese hair salon Beautrium, which is famous for their slide-cut which adds subtle layers and volume to the otherwise flat Asian hair(those who read all the Japanese fashion magazine in the millennium should know which place I’m talking about.) Fast forward to today– Numayama San is working under the Private Eye franchise and I’m still a loyal customer. His Japanese precision and Hong Kong frankness blended with Japanese diplomacy is what keeps me going back(«no, this hairstyle will not work because you are too lazy to style your hair and your face shape is not so good for it») I could go on with the amazing Numayama San(he cuts hair dry! His perms are legendarily natural!) but this wouldn’t be a true review of the salon itself. But then again, who cares about what the place looks like or what services they offer when you’ve got the perfect hair stylist?(One caveat, though: he specializes in elegant, girlish Japanese styles. If you are looking for Miley Cyrus’ edgy/skank you’ve come to the wrong place)
