Nichtsdestotrotz: klare Empfehlung.

Was waiting in line from 7:45 — 8:35. The food tasted really good and the service up to standards. I don’t want to beat around the bush. I got mild food poisoning after eating here so no matter how great the food tasted, I’m afraid to return. Note: the strawberry ice cream is really photogenic and addicting!

After traveling from Vietnam, we were tired but hungry and ready to explore a bit of Hong Kong for the night and needed to find a restaurant open later than others and which served great food. After reading reviews on Unilocal about TeaWood Taiwanese Café & Restaurant, I figured this would be a sure bet. I was right. The food was quite delicious and the Mango Ice Cream Toast Dessert we ordered was sublime. I have never had a dessert anywhere like this before and it was unique and really, really good. This café and restaurant offers a wide selection of coffee and tea drinks, fruity sodas, food, and desserts but does not serve alcohol which definitely makes it a hot spot for a younger clientele because of this fact. It was incredibly busy, clean, and impressive; however we sat for about six minutes until we were greeted by someone even though wait staff kept walking by and looking at us. Once we were greeted though we received great service and ordered pork dumplings and the entrée(I can’t remember the name of it but it was really good). The entrée has a soft boiled egg, rice, minced beef, sausage, and what seemed like collared greens. We then decided to order a toast ice cream dessert and I am so glad that we did because it was awesome. The juxtaposition of the crispy toast combined with the cold and extremely creamy mango ice cream with pieces of fresh mango scattered on top with cream was delicious. Just a note, the dessert takes about twenty minutes so order it with your food to have it timed accurately. I would recommend this café and restaurant to anyone who wants to try something unique because I have never had a dessert like they serve in the States.

The tea shop was bright and roomy, nicely decorated and clean. The menu was bilingual with beautiful food photos. The staff was efficient but not attentive enough to offer us glasses for water and bowls for sharing. There was a 90-minute time limit but we didn’t feel rushed during our stay. We ordered TeaWood Stewed Beef Noodle, Taiwanese Style BBQ Sausages, Taiwanese Style Marinated Meat Combination, and Traditional Taiwanese Style Chicken in Soysauce, Sesame Oil and Wine. The beef noodle was rich in flavour yet not too greasy. The self-made thick noodle was cooked perfectly and the texture was great. The beef was juicy and delicious. The cilantro added an aromatic flavour to the broth. The BBQ sausages came with sliced garlic and green onion. Eating them together was a good combination, the simple ingredients enhanced the already tasty sausages. The marinated meat combo was another great appetizer. The dish contained two chicken wings, sliced duck gizzard, soyed beef, pork belly, tofu, and half a soft-boiled egg. The egg just melted in the mouth and would leave you wanting more. The rest of the meat was yummy as well and not too salty. The traditional chicken came in a ceramic bowl with a tea candle underneath to keep it warm. This dish was different from what I’ve ever tasted before. The chicken was deep fried, the pieces were quite small and a tad boney. The taste wasn’t bad but it wasn’t what I was accustomed to for traditional Taiwanese style chicken. A little expensive but amazing and authentic Taiwanese food. I would like to come back and try their famous desserts next time.

The famous Teawood brick toast! Taiwanese beef noodles! Taiwanese food! Not only do they have yummy Teawood toast, but they also have yummy Taiwanese food as well. I would recommend having the Taiwanese beef noodles and any type of pasta. What is great about this place is that they make their own noodles! Initially, I didn’t think I would be impressed, but their noodles are quite good. I loved the shape and texture of the noodles. Perfect consistency since I like my noodles chewy! However, the rice dishes were just average. Now to the Teawood brick toast! It’s SO delicious. What I love about it is that it’s drenched in this cream sauce which keeps the toast moist. I prefer the chocolate because the fruit flavor was too much fruit for me. I’ve been here four times already, and all four were at different times of the day. Come for dinner if you want to wait an hour or more. It’s crazy busy during dinner time. I was not happy at all. They also call all their numbers in Chinese, so if you don’t speak Chinese you’re at a bit of a disadvantage. Also, order in advance because you’re only allowed to be in there for an hour! Now go eat their tower of toast.

Can someone say YUM up in here?! View of the streets from high up and good food. Taiwanese Pork Chop bento was pretty darn good. They made the minced meat rice correctly. Milk tea was nicely flavored, though we forgot to request an iced one! Chocolate strawberry brick toast was not the best I’ve had but it was still good. Rocky road ice cream, slightly chewy and not so fried bread, whipped cream and strawberries! Yum! A cute place, food came out quickly and servers were polite(you may need to flag them down). Great for a date or catching up with a girl friend!
