While the other location didn’t advertise it, this Tsim Chai Kee seemed to advertise their nomination as a michelin star location. I guess one has one over the other? Well, I highly recommend this location over the other one a few minutes away! First off, it’s on a major road so it’s easy to get to and find. I walked in a few minutes after it opened and the staff were still dining but all gestured for me to sit somewhere. The waiter seemed nervous about me ordering(I assume he couldn’t speak English), but he was very nice the whole time. I tried to order in Cantonese but he seemed to be quiet regardless. Still, I enjoyed the service a lot more than other places during my stay. I ordered the wonton and fishball with yellow noodles and it was delicious! Both locations have similar qualities but the inclusion of the fishball meant more protein so I was definitely full by the end of the meal. The meal was also quite affordable. Who says you have to go to Tim Ho Wan for a cheap michelin star meal? This one was great and I didn’t have to wait in line, sit with others, or get ignored by the staff. Ah, I love it!

Sadly, my expectations for wonton mein have been grossly lowered due to my time in Chicago, but I must enthusiastically recommend the cheap, delicious bowl of noodles served at Tsim Chai Kee. Someone I’m sure has something legit to say about the alkalinity of the noodles, but I like toothsome noodles, so I really enjoyed the springiness. But don’t enjoy the noodles alone too much because holy moly golf ball-sized wontons!!!

Overrated for the noodles. Only the prawn wonton and sliced beef was good. The fish balls were a bit tasteless.

Definitely the best wonton soup I’ve had of all the recommended in Central/HK island. Very simple menu(English and Chinese available on the table) and only costs about US$ 3. Wontons are pork and shrimp and definitely the biggest and most flavorful in comparison to their competitors. First came here while taking a Foodie tour with some friends who were visiting and glad I did because with a very small entrance(just stairs leading downstairs off the street) it’s easy to miss this place. Note: they charge either 3−5hkd for a small pack of napkins

Don’t know what it is but this is another wanton place. Taste wise it’s more or less the same as the 2 «Mak» chains in HK. The menu has fish balls vs. beef tendons & no congee. portions a bit larger so one item + some veggies & you’re good to go.

Yum Yum Yum! I like SIMPLE, straight to the point food. This noodle shop only offers 3 toppings in their noodles: Beef, Plump Won-tons, and huge fish balls. You can choose to have 1 topping or all three! They only have one size and it’s «just right» for one person. Although, I’ve seen people still share. Average cost of a bowl is $ 30HKD. Sometimes there’s a wait. But it’s never for long. There’s two locations in CENTRAL that I know of. So if one has a long wait, you can walk 5 minutes to the next one. Cheers!

Looking for something quick and cheap to eat in Central? You cannot miss Tsim Chai Kee! Tsim Chai Kee is known for their freshly made ping-pong sized wontons. Compared to the other wonton noodle shops in the area, I find this family-run eatery serves food of great value. A bowl of noodle costs less than $ 30 and the portions are much bigger than any wonton noodles I’ve tried elsewhere. The soup is freshly simmered every day using a type of dried fish to give it a sweet taste. Another thing I like about Tsim Chai Kee is that they’ve only got 3 options on their menu.(minimize your trouble to think about what to order) There are only wontons, fish balls and beef. If you do not know what to try, you can even order a combo with everything! Your belly will surely be satisfied!
