Thought this place was great. I had the Zalouk and it was quite tasty. Also had the side salad which surprisingly delicious. I would eat that salad every day. Very friendly wait staff as well and a nice atmosphere. You are packed in there and close to your neighbors but as a solo diner I kinda liked that.

Another great place that Unilocal introduced to me. The food was so good that I can’t wait to go back. We had the mezze plate to share as our starter — Delicious and in the perfect size so no one feels like didn’t had enough. It’s a great thing to order if, like me, you get food envy when other people’s food arrives. This way you can try everything For main course I ordered the beef kofta & I’m really glad I did. The meat was so juice and tasty that I still can taste It when I close my eyes. The desert was the top of the list for me especially as it was a bit of a surprise. Everyone at the table was already very satisfied when out came a selection of little deserts including the best baklava I ever had in my life with a delicious chocolate ice cream and some very tasty Turkish delights The restaurant itself is lovely — very relaxed perfect for both couples and larger groups.

Amazing food — so fresh I think you can see from my photos the colours really jump out and the food tasted every bit as good as it looks. We had a mezze plate to share as a starter which was fantastic — really big and enough of everything that nobody had to compromise. I would definitely get this again. For main course I had the beef kofta which I am already craving. Very moist and succulent — served with couscous and greens. For desert as with the started we got a selection of deserts which was perfect for me as I like to try lots of little bits. The icecream was amazingly chocolatey and I loved the Turkish delight. Overall the meal was very good value including the wine. Although I was very full and really committed gluttony I left feeling light as a feather — this I’m sure was down to the excellent fresh ingredients. Without question somewhere I will be adding to my regular list !

This is my new favourite place! The mother will be dragged here soon on her next«try some new food that’s not potatoes» adventure! Run by really friendly lads, Brother Hubbard gives you tasty, authentic food that introduces your taste buds to middle eastern grub! As a small independent café these lot are really doing it right in my eyes! I came here with other Unilocalers and from finish to end I really enjoyed everything we where served. We had a mezze platter to start and share between us and it came out on authentic dishes and bowls that where so beautiful and great for presentation. I’d recommend the Hake as a main course, it literally melted in my mouth and the Cous Cous and veg along side was great too! Also the nicest Baklava I’ve had and it’s my favourite dessert :) could live off it! Overall il be back to try the other bits and pieces and I also can’t wait to try lunch or some of their yummy cakes for breakfast with coffee!

Brought to Brother Hubbard as a treat and a lovely treat it was. I’d never managed to get to Brother Hubbard before, as during the week they would be shut by the time we got to Capel Street post work. But then they started doing an evening dinner menu and it was all middle eastern fare. Interesting. While waiting for the rest of our group, we started on a bottle of rosé. Delicious and good value at 26EUR. I really recommend it if you like rosé, Avaniel Tempranillo. First was the platter of starters. And can I just say how beautiful the serving platter was. Very authentic. The starting food was quite nice. For a main I went for the beef kofta and oh my gosh, what deliciousness I was served. It was a tough call what to order as a main because everything on the menu looked great. I’m glad I ordered that. But I am looking forward to trying out the other dishes sometime. The dessert platter deserves a special mention. Delicious chocolate ice cream, tasty Turkish delight and yummy baklava. I was always curious about baklava, but never ventured to try it. So I took a deep breath and dived in. It was so so good. One person at the table declared it was the nicest baklava she’s had. Wow. Brother Hubbard is cool and hip. The heated outdoor area out the back was constantly catching my eye throughout our visit. It’s fantastically lit and fitted out. The people out there looked very happy despite being outside on a very cold spell of weather in January. I look forward to returning to Brother Hubbard. And making an evening visit to Sister Sadie, which is nearer to home.

Went here for the first time last night as part of the Yap on Unilocal event. Inside very nice environment simple but elegant furnishings with a bit of character. The menu is middle eastern, one of my favorite food types so was looking forward to it. Its a little bit different to your normal menu. Starters and Deserts are platters of food shared between the table. So the only decisions you have to make are 2 or 3 courses and what your main course will be. I like it when a restaurant has a limited menu, its a sign that they have taken time to produce a good selection of food and will be cooking it fresh. Obviously if you are a fussy eater this may not be the place for you. For starters we had soup, hummous, bread and bits and for desert it was chocolate ice cream, baklava and spiced fruit. All very nice. For me the platters were the stand out part of the meal. Which to be honest is generally my experience with Middle Eastern food anyway. For main course I had a lamb chop dish, plenty of meat to go around. I didn’t think the lamb was particularly spiced in any way but it was pleasant enough. For sides their was some cous cous and vegetables which were very nice. Other people at the table had the Beef Kofta which was delicious(I was pretty jealous of that dish) and someone also had Hake which looked good. After 3 courses we were all pretty well fed, but you definitely need the two courses to fill you up. With our food we had a bottle of Rose which was pretty nice and suited the food well. The staff were very nice, only minor gripes took us a while to get asked if we wanted a drink. But once we had started being served very efficient indeed.

Really great. Hipster to the max, I say that in the most positive sense. Great food that sometimes takes a bit, but good things take time — so bring a bit with you. You might have to wait, but the wait is very much worth it. One of my favorites in Dublin, hands down.

Holy Moses! My friend and I stopped at brother Hubbard for brunch on a Saturday. It was very busy and we had to wait for 20+ minutes for a table. During our wait, we stalked plates being delivered and spotted the pulled pork. So we ordered it and by God it was GOOD! Can’t wait to go back for more.

LAGLORIA.

This place is GORGEOUS! The food is delicious, the coffee is amazing and the whole ambiance of the place is just perfect. It’s a great little spot to sit and have a coffee alone or with friends. Their desserts are AMAZING. I just love it and can’t wait to come back soon!

Great hearty food that makes you feel good. The kind of place you could stroll into hungover on a Saturday or come for a romantic date on a night out. Can’t recommend this place enough for brunch, lunch or dinner. You’ll definitely find someone you like on the menu.

I’ve been to Brother Hubbard a few times and can’t really fault it. It’s a great spot for both breakfast and lunch. Everything they do here they seem to do really well. The menu is relatively small when it comes to food choice, however, I don’t mind that as the options they do have are delicious! I had breakfast here the other day and got the granola and an orange juice. The juice was fresh and thick with orange pieces, yum yum. I got a scone and coffee to finish then(I’d just come off a night shift, you have to treat yourself sometimes). The scone was perfect and came with a selection of preserves, coffee was great too. It think the whole lot came to just under € 10, was was very reasonable. The lunch food is also great and I’ve noticed they do an evening menu of middle eastern food which I’m looking forward to checking out!

Truly the best sandwich in dublin! I have been eagerly awaiting the chance to visit brother Hubbard and finally got my chance a few short days ago! Needless to say I was not disappointed! A fan of pulled pork I got the ‘best sandwich in dublin’ which consisted of a heap of beautifully slow cooked pulled pork on some fresh soda bread that was crispy and delicious and came with a side salad and I chose the roast potato salad which was truly amazing. Got an orange fizz to wash down the meal and couldn’t have been happier and it all came to around 12.50! My girlfriend ordered the flatbread and lentil soup and upon tasting some of hers I found it to be just as good as my order! Great atmosphere and staff made the visit all the more enjoyable. Two very happy customers who will definitely be back again!

Who knew Brother Hubbard has a little bro’!!! Right next door to(big) Brother Hubbard is Little Brother with basically the same menu and loads of overflow space on the weekends. Bro Hub was bustin’ at the seams when we walked in so they sat us next door. We grabbed seats facing the street and people watched while we chowed down on the most delicious pulled pork open-faced sandwiches. I threw in a slice of gluten free bread and was a very happy camper. The eats are nicely priced and the location is pretty cool — in between Cineworld and the Liffey which makes for a pleasant walk coming from any direction and a cool post– or pre– flick eatery! Also, if you’re fan of the bro’s, check out little sister Sadie off S.C.R. in D8 … I plan to and will post a review at some point! Good eats seem to be all in the family here!

5 stars being given purely for the brownie — epicallly fudgey, gooey and rich — brownies do not come better than this. Coffee was awesome too and just love the whole laid back vibe of the place — great spot for brunch or a coffee and the lunch menu reads deliciously too. but damn, that brownie tho’!!!

The last few times I had breakfast or lunch here, with the food still the same quality as always, I really felt the service has gone down a lot. ‘Too cool for school’ is never a good attitude to run a business with, even if it’s considered ‘hipster’. Sorry guys, has the success gone slightly to your heads?

Ordered a coconut lemongrass chicken hot pot which has just incredible flavors. This is not very curry like where it is soupy but instead is pretty dense of a dish that has generous portions of juicy and tender pulled chicken in a curry like sauce(not much lemongrass flavoring though which was to be honest a little disappointing) on top of what seems like a bed of multigrains. If I were to describe this, I would say it’s a lemongrass hinted pulled chicken stew one that was very filling, satisfying, and doesn’t leave the residue of flavors that will have you begging for water as some curry places may leave you with. The toppings on top were a delicious slaw of onions, carrots and red and green peppers — a fantastic pairing to add a crunch to the hot pot. Also came with hummus and sourdough and my goodness, some of the most fresh and well seasoned hummus I have ever tasted. The flavoring of the hummus mixed perfectly with the sourness of the sour dough and was just plainly stated — delicious!

So I found something that made me reevaluate my opinion of Bro Hubbard. If I just avoid the crowds and lunchtime, and go during the morning, then I can fully enjoy the best they have to offer — breakfast. What I wrote on my last review still stands, though the business owner was kind enough to inform that their salt was perfectly soluble even though I thought it was simple coarse salt. But lets get to what really matters, what made me start going back? Basically, what drew me back was Little Brother next door. And after that I started appreciating more their pastries — the buns are to die for — and coffee, though I stayed clear from the espresso since my first experiences here. At this smaller location you can either sit there, upstairs or by the window, or have everything to go. Alternatively, also during the morning, the main space, Brother Hubbard proper, is a very enjoyable spot with a good brekkie menu. During this time of the day, the little patio to the back isn’t too crowded and is the perfect setting to enjoy a filter coffee, without having to sit awkwardly at one of the small tables inside. And did I mention you can get the newspaper with your breakfast? How cool is that?

Brother Hubbard’s 2 building space means there is more room for everyone! The croque Monsieur was really tasty, and really rich. Same issue as Sister Sadie — the tables are inches apart. Not a comfortable spot for guests wanting to have a conversation that is private or just not interfering with someone else’s conversation. Not anything to write home about, really! If you’ve been to Sister Sadie you’re better off because of the great outdoor seating that is relatively new!

This place has become one of my go to spots for a nice weekend breakfast or brunch. They do delicious coffee and a lovely Mediterranean style breakfast plate with olives, hummus, a boiled egg, sourdough toast and other assorted good for you goodies. They really like to push their pulled pork; there are signs all over the place telling you about how it won an award but I can’t really say I was that impressed. I love pulled pork but their stuff is fairly average. If you want good pulled pork go to a BBQ place like the Bison Bar. This place does other things way way better and they should be plugging those things instead. They do some really nice coffee and pastries. Where they really shine though is their hot chocolate. It is probably one of the best I’ve ever had. They serve you a big cup of foamed chocolate milk with a small jug full of melted chocolate ganache. They get a little bit crowded on the weekend; they have become popular for brunch. They have a second premises next door; Brother Hubbard’s Little Brother. The Little Brother is perfect for dropping in to pick up a quick coffee, even during their busiest times.

Incredible!!! Have been here loads since they opened, it’s my bunch staple in Dublin! It’s ideal for a quick coffee and one of their amazing scones, or a longer leisurely brunch catch up with friends. They have loads of veggie options which are diverse, nutritious and delicious. Their middle eastern breakfast plate is to die for– it’s my go-to hangover cure! They have a little garden area in the back which is gorgeous to sit in on a nice day too. I really can’t fault them, except for that fact that it’s so good it’s often packed! Highly recommended.
