BT2

Here visiting on holiday and randomly found myself in this trendy store. Coming from New York I was so excited to see a store like this. Only purchased brands that were not available in the states, but sales help was extremely helpful, patient, and knowledgeable!

BT2 is a high-​end department store. So yes, the prices are high. (Actually, considering the designers they carry, a lot of the prices are better than what I’d find in the States. Though even if the prices are BETTER, I’m still not going to spend 300 dollars on a pair of jeans. But whatever: that’s true for all high-​end department stores, so I’m just going to compare BT2 to its competitors.)
The only thing that salvages this store from a one-​star review are the clothes themselves. (And that there’s a Starbucks upstairs.) Because they do carry some nice lines, and I was tempted by several things. But the customer service was abysmal.
Look: I’m not expecting chilled mineral water upon walking in to a store. But a «let me know if I can help you!», or at least a nod and a smile, seems reasonable. Instead, when I walked in, I got an up-​down stare from a skinny woman clad in all black. As I browsed for close to twenty minutes, not one person offered help, or to take the clothes I was holding to a dressing room. (Okay, so it turns out it’s impossible to write a negative review of a department store without sounding like a pretentious asshole. I hear myself. First world problems. I know.)
When I went to try on a few dresses, there was nobody helping at the changing rooms. Another black-​clad woman sighed heavily when I asked to be let in, and disappeared as soon as the door was opened. As I tried on a dress I wanted to try it with a pair of heels. My friend went to ask someone at the desk for a simple pair of heels; the woman there waved at the shoe section of the store and said to just grab something there.
The final straw was when I brought the dress I was about to buy to the front desk downstairs. Three girls — again, wearing all black — were giggling over their phones. I asked a question about dry cleaning. They looked at me blankly, shrugged, looked at each other and dissolved into giggles again. One of them turned back to me and asked «So, you ready to pay?».
Nope. Ten minutes later I found the same dress in another store on Grafton Street. I bought it and was thrilled that I hadn’t given BT2 any of my money.
I get that, in the scheme of things, they weren’t so egregiously rude. But standards are higher for such expensive stores. They should have someone greet customers warmly at the door; they should have someone offer to take clothes to the dressing room; they should have someone working in the dressing room; they should have simple heels on hand for women to try on with their clothes. These are basic customer service things for department stores, and BT2 lacked all of them.

BT2 is a lot nicer to shop in… Staff are nicer & more helpful… I purchased a pair of shoes on this visit & the lady I was dealing with went beyond to help me out…

Probably the best shop around for beauty & make-​up. Tons of choice, sales and really high quality products.

Juicy Couture, Dahlia, Lipsy, Manoush, Sonia Rykiel, Diane Von Furstenberg, Moschino, Cheap and Chic, Paul and Joe, Junk De Luxe, Penguin, Timex, Paul’s Boutique, Ginch Gonch, Nümph, See by Chloe, Diesel, Lyle and Scott, All Saints, Guess Lipsy, Miss Sixty, Fornarina… a list even the most modish of Dublin dwellers would salivate over. As BT2 themselves claim, their ‘concoctions are contagious’, and indeed their chic trends that see avant-​garde, idiosyncratic design combine with funky folk are certainly lip-​smacking to the eye.
In recent times BT2’s flagship shop on Grafton Street has retained a very distinct cultural as well as sophisticated edge. The clothes on sale are very contemporaneous and hip and this in conjunction with it being Dublin’s busiest and most exclusive shopping street I feel the atmosphere within the Grafton Street branch to be very pulsing. Such renowned labels are expectedly pricey, even a Moschino t-​shirt for example could be priced around the € 60 mark. Be prepared for the steep price tags otherwise it will hit you like a bolt from the blue.

Many lay claim that BT2 is a love or hate kind of store. But, in my book BT2 is just beow average. The fit is a bit weird on a lot of their clothes but some are grand, some of the stuff is nice and some of it is utterly hideous. But all of it is expensive.
It kind of levels out to be a sub-​par experience. But not hate for me. Certainly not love either, mind you.

Yes, BT2 is expensive, and that sucks. That even makes people angry (see review below). Personally, I don’t see any reason to get worked up, because this place is great! This is the kind of place where I see something I want so bad it feels like I need it, where I seriously think, «well, if I don’t eat for a month or two…»
Following a trend in high-​end department stores, Brown Thomas opened BT2, a shop that caters to young, trendy and loaded fashionistas and Trustafarians. If you think it’s going to be a cheaper Brown Thomas because it’s aimed at young people, think again. BT2 sells designer duds from Juicy Couture, Manoush, Sonia Rykiel, designer diffusion lines, and the higher end of the high street like Miss Sixty, Diesel, and Fornarina.
The sales assistants are suitably cool and well-​dressed, so they can be a little scary.

BT2. I am not a fan! To high priced, high fashion and high nonsense for my liking. If you want to be a label fiend and look like you have money to burn and think you have style by all means head here and waste your hard earned cash!
It is billed as youthful, fresh, edgy and contemporary. As being home to cutting edge handpicked brands from around the globe including Diesel, Fornarina & G-​Star alongside exclusive funky niche-​brands you won’t find anywhere else in Ireland! Well, thank havens for that, maybe the rest of the country can develop their own sense of style and not end up like some of the clones seen strutting down Grafton Street of a Saturday morn!

BT2 is the best place to shop for the fashionista who wants to buy all the season’s necessities under one roof. With exclusive brands like see by chole, Rock and Republic, and Diesel (amongst many, many others) as well as their in house line this is my favorite go to place on Grafton Street. I always fall in love with other a pair of jeans or a coat when I walk into BT2
I was also thrilled when I found the benefit product offering instore.
And a cherry on top, the Starbucks located upstairs will make sure you have enough caffinate to shop the racks and try on all your picks.
