Excellent authentic Malaysian food. The Asami Laksa and Chow Kuey Teow is good tasting and matches my Malaysian taste buds.

1. The worst food you could possibly buy 2. They are extremely rude 3. The food isn’t cooked to order 4. Sauces cost extra € 2 which does makes sense. I came in at 12:00 to Oder food, after ordering my food I asked for extra sauce for my food and the waiter started coursing at me because I wasn’t willing to pay him the extra money! I would highly recommend you check out a different place before coming here. This place is sad.

Really great shrimp and veggie chow mein. Chef cooked it with high heat, not much sauce, but flavorful, just how I like it. Guy at the register was very patient with drunk customers and my picky requests.

On a scale of 1 – 5, how drunk are you? Did you answer 5 or higher? Move to the next question. On a scale of 1 – 5, with 1 being highly averse, and 5 being completely accepting, how would you rate your aversion to fried/unhealthy food? Did you answer 5 or higher? Move on to the next question. What time is it? Did you answer 12AM or later? Move on to the next question. How many fucks do you give about greasy unauthentic«chinese food» being put on top of a bed of chips with your choice of a variety of unhealthy, incredibly salty sauces and then served to you in a takeaway box? If you answered ZERO, proceed to Charlies Four with all deliberate haste.

A small restaurant near temple bar area. This is a great place to go for lunch. Very CHEAP! 6.95 £ for a 2 course meal. I got a Singapore chow mein and crispy wontons. They were average but great value for the price.

Charlies 4 or as it is affectionately know on the«scene»… Gay Charlies I love Gay Charlies. It is facing the George and just up the road from the Dragon. I must admit I have never been here sober. So this review is based on my alcohol infused experience of this establishment. Without out fail if I am in the G, Dragon, Globe, Hogan’s or anywhere else around the South George’s Street area I will end up here for some late night drunken nom noms… It is over priced for what it is. But hey it’s 3am and all you want is MSG, salt, saturated fats and carbs. So it’s ideal for the 3am munchies. I have only ever had their famous Chicken Balls, Chips and Curry Sauce meal. Approx a tenner. Or their 3 in 1. A fiver… The food here serves its purpose. It is drunken munchies satisfaction personified.(see pic of Chicken Balls meal above)… It’s super greasy and super tasty. You will always get colourful characters here. Usually a drag queen or two knocking about. Usually never any trouble but there was one experience which stuck in my head. A stupidly drunk guy was coming onto a girl. He pestered and pestered. She told him where to go. He would not leave her alone and got a little too close for comfort. Her girlfriend then attacked him and they both kicked the sh1t out of him!!! He was battered like a Chicken Ball. Whether he deserved it or not was up for much debate amongst the shocked onlookers that night. But somehow I doubt he told his mates the next day that he was beaten up by 2 girls… Scarlet for him…

Open late night, which is very hard to find in Dublin! Charlie’s almost became a ritual. Really enjoyed the spring rolls and chicken chow mein. Definitely a lot better than the fast food«Chinese» you get in NY. Everything was fresh and wasn’t doused in MSG. Prices are high but food in Dublin is pricey. Since they’re also open after hours, they know hungry people are willing to pay any price. Usually hard to find a seat past 1AM. Staff is eh but I’m sure they’ve dealt with a lot of fools.

I have been here a few times after leaving the club and is a great spot for some late night Chinese. It is not the best Chinese ever, and the prices are about double what you would find at the Chinese places who deliver, but its in a handy spot. One thing I did notice the other night — I went in sober and they over charged me by six euro. I asked them about this and they told me the app prices as shown on the board are for lunch, not late night, and the prices are like two euro more at night. Having been the first time I was in there sober it was the first time I noticed, but I thought it was bad form to have one price displayed and another that they charge.

Yes you read correctly, the Charlie’s chain marches on into a fourth premises! Like any sequel it doesn’t differ much to its previous incarnations and expect hoards of people in here of a Friday & Saturday night mostly the worse for wear. Offering the same curry n chips n chicken balls style as its brothers the menu doesn’t vary much from the others, except for some more Malaysian style food in Charlies four. Still the place to go for late night drunken post pub/club food.
