Another thrift store that knows which crowd it wants to serve and sell its products to. If you have and love your hipster style, this is the place to go. The thrift store seems to specialize in the 80’s and sporty 80’s in clothing style which is the roots of the hipster style. The prices are a bit too steep for me but for the crowd that it serves, I am sure money is not the object because style and personal presentation comes first. Not a bad place to go if you want an experience, as when I went there they had a live band playing and a DJ in the store, but it is a specific style of clothing that is being selected for this store.

Enable Ireland is located on the charity shop mecca that is Georges street, and despite the tough competition, it stands out amongst the other, slightly less shiny charity shops. Great, ornate window displays and a plethora of books, Enable is the diamond in the rough of the George/Aungier street charity shops. I got a few great records here about a year back and kept returning as they have probably the strongest selection of cds out of all Dublin’s charity shops. Loads of women’s clothes, but fellas, not so much.

Enable Ireland is such a great charity shop. First, I must agree with Laura that their window displays are really well-thought out. On the plus side, they’re usually not so scary. They’re fantastic because not only are they color-coordinated, but they give some really amazing ideas of the kind of fashionable ensembles that you can put together from items at a charity shop. That, my friends, is an art. The fact that every Enable Ireland window looks so great makes me think they might have a full-time creative director on their side. Kudos to this genius, whoever they may be. Anyway, inside the merchandise isn’t quite as impressive, but given the window’s dose of inspiration it’s not terribly difficult to find something that’ll do. They sell clothes for men, women and children and all of the prices are fantastic. Oh and they have a really awesome selection of books that are sooo cheap. I couldn’t believe some of the finds there, and am currently building a library purely from Enable Ireland!

I’ve never actually bought anything here, but their window dressings deserve acknowledgement. First of all, Enable Ireland are an NGO that work to assist people in Ireland suffering from disabilities, and their families. So, you’ve got the general gist of the charity itself. I was walking past a while ago though, and it was late-ish at night, when I glanced in the window and stopped in shock. Now, I’m used to the generally poor quality of window displays in charity shops. They appear to have a strange ability to make their merchandise as disgustingly unappealing as possible. However, this time was different. I swear it was akin to looking at a shop whose main focus was bondage wear or something. Truly scary. I was reminded that it was racing season so I could have mistaken glad rags for unsavory getups, but I don’t think so. So wrong… so very very wrong. But kudos for the bravery all the same!!!
