Note to self: have no expectations. My biggest disappointment in Dublin so far. Maybe it was all in my head after getting so many recommendations about this place. Of course I ordered the Featherblade steak with leaves and it was perfectly cooked but plain as can be, apart from the black pepper on top there was no ‘divine bovine’ taste to it. The Truffle Mac’n Cheese side was also disappointing, no mouth-watery daydream afterwards. Fries were good. Service and decoration were very good tbh, really appreciated the big cushion on their lovely bank, short people struggles!

Awesome atmosphere, came here on a work trip from the US and can’t wait to bring my girlfriend here on my return visit. The food was based on a set menu which is awesome since having a large variety often adds to complications. The service was top notch and my steak was superb! Great for large parties as well.

We had a great experience here — loved the food ESPECIALLY the sides. If anything, I felt the sides were the main star of the meal, and the steak was the back-up dancers. So, let’s just talk about the sides. The sweet potato — chunky pieces of sweet potato with a crispy outside. I don’t know how they made these taste so amazing… but these were amazing. The beef-dripping chips — need I say more? Amazing. The creamed spinach — yes. The broccolini — came with fried garlic pieces(omg) and was cooked perfectly. So much flavor! The truffle mac n cheese — you’ll want to get your own; you can really taste the truffle. the pasta was a bit too cooked for my liking(I like it chewier) but it tasted perfect. For dessert we ordered chocolate hazelnut brownies — these were perfect. I think it’s enough to share with someone else. The only reason for 4 stars was as I said, I didn’t feel the meat really stood out.

That’s it. Stop the presses. Ladies and gents, this is officially my new favourite restaurant. I had tried to go here with some friends a couple times in December, but each time we went they were packed full and there were no seats or reservations available. I’d been dying to try their steak, especially given how reasonably priced it is. So, I ended up getting a reservation for my husband and I for lunch on Christmas Eve. You better believe I snatched that right up. So we arrived, and were taken to our table. We decided to just get a appetizer and main instead of doing the full 3 course menu. I’m usually not too big on eating desserts when we’re out. The menu only had two appetizer and two entrée options, so we got one of each and shared. I don’t remember the name of what we had, but the first dish was essentially deep fried sesame chicken, and the other dish was mixed crab with sauce and some bread. To be honest, I wasn’t blown away by the appetizers. Despite this, I still give the restaurant 5 stars, and I’ll tell you why… The steak here is absolutely FAN-TAS-TIC. I had the hangar steak, and my husband had the featherblade steak. Each steak was served with chimichurri, whiskey peppercorn, and a bearnaise sauce. I tried a taste of each, and to be honest the steak was better without the sauces. The steak was cooked exactly as ordered(which can sometimes be a challenge when you ask for a rare steak in Dublin). We finished off the meal with an old fashioned for«dessert» and it was the perfect end to a great meal. If you get the chance to eat here, and you love steak, do not turn it down. But make sure you make a reservation or you’re not getting in.(Tip: You can book a table online)

This is my 3rd time here and I can say that each meal has been super. The steak is not the usual cut I would order but it was so tasty. The sauces and sides are too die for especially Mac & Cheese. The vibe is pretty funky and good for groups. Service and staff are so pleasant.

Featherblade, you sly cow, you. I came here for a spontaneous dinner with a friend and we both took one look at the menu and decided on the Picanha steak for our main with Sweet Potato Fries on the side and a Whiskey Peppercorn dip. The Picanha, a popular cut in Brazil, was their guest steak and seeing as I’ve a whole lifetime to try their house special steak, I thought I’d give the guest a try. The server explained that the Picanha is already marinated in a garlic and herbs, so the need for a dip wasn’t necessary; so I opted out on the extra sauce. When my entrée came, the steak was already sliced and served with a side of mixed greens. I loved the mixed greens, but the presentation was a little plain. I understand that the point of Featherblade is to keep it simple, but that doesn’t mean your presentation has to be. It was, however, a foreshadowing of what my steak would taste like – plain. The steak wasn’t marinated at all. It was cooked to my liking, medium rare, but it was bland and tasteless. I decided to steal some of my friend’s dip and it made all the difference! I would highly recommend getting the Whiskey Peppercorn sauce with the steaks. The other downside to that was the fact that the sauce came in small portions, so paying an extra few euros didn’t seem reasonable. I didn’t expect a gravy boat, but I also didn’t expect that sad excuse for a serving. But everything else aside, I think this is a great addition to the community and I would come back to try their Featherblade steak. This place is still fairly new, so perhaps the next experience will be better!

It’s been a while since I’ve walked out of a restaurant in Dublin and thought to myself, «that’s a new go-to.» A go-to as in somewhere I know I could bring a whole mixture of people at different times and it would always be a hit. It’s not too fancy, not too casual, the price point is incredible, and the food is top notch. I also thought to myself, how the f*&c did I not think of this? Steak at a reasonable price. It actually hasn’t been done yet. At least not in this casual-chic type style. Such a simple idea — two or three choices for starters, mains and desert. Comfortable and stylish surroundings but still zero fuss. And a price tag that ensures it doesn’t have to be a special occasion to eat there. The lads themselves as well are welcoming and super-friendly. You can see they’ve put their all into it and it’s just lovely to see. I will be back and I’ll be bringing others along. Several times over no doubt.

Featherblade is such a fantastic spot, it’s the perfect addition to Dawson Street. I booked a table on a Tuesday night with no trouble. The menu is small but perfectly put together. We both had steaks and chose the truffel mac and cheese(amazing), creamed spinach(delicious) and some of the best chips I’ve had in the last few months! We finished the night off with a delicious chocolate tart. All of this and a bottle of wine cost us less than 70 quid! Get in here now!

I had only recently heard of a new steakhouse opening on Dawson St so I headed down to try it out. Wow! I have to say I was really impressed. The venue has changed a few times over recent years but I am confident that Featherblade will be here for the long haul. Dublin has badly needed a steakhouse without the burden of a fat wallet. I went with as a group of 4 and our meal was great value. We shared the mini fish and crisps and the lamb starter before each ordering the token featherblade steak(only € 13). The sides were absolutely delicious, I was personally a huge fan of the wilted spinach and the truffle mac and cheese. I always order my steak medium rare, if not rare and if I have one pet hate about Irish restaurants serving steak it is that they tend to completely overdo it. Well thankfully this cannot be said for Featherblade. My steak was served exactly how I like it! We didnt have desserts and unfortunately the coffee machine was out of action but that didn’t stop me leaving a very satisfied customer. I would absolutely recommend the lavender gin and tonic! I also loved the concept of the litre of wine :) If you are looking for a steak restaurant without all the frills this is definitely the venue for you! I know I already have plans to return!

Came here for lunch. The place itself looks pretty nice, though I felt the seats were a little too high? And the space is really narrow. Could use some rearrangement. Ordered a prawn starter which cost me € 7. Miserable quantity of 5 normal sized prawns. But I must say it was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Was really tasty. Didn’t take a picture of it but it was basically skewered prawns. Had their feather blade steak that cost € 11 and € 1.50 more for the sauce. The meat itself was a good cut. But it was served cut to me, and I really hate it when someone cuts my steak. You could see that the steak was not evenly cooked on both sides. You could also see that it was not really medium-rare as expected. And felt so though that it was being sat out for a long period of time. Also I felt it wasn’t cooked on the spot as it came out so quickly. It also came with a miserable quantity of a salad though. The sauce itself wasn’t too spectacular. Had their brownie which was just baked, I think. It was warm and soft with their caramel sauce. It was pretty good. But I must say it wasn’t a bad price and thus a three star. Not many steak places around in Dublin that is affordable. So I’ll probably come back here when I feel to slaughter some cows again. However, stay away from the appetisers and desserts. They rip your money off. Portions were pretty small, so don’t expect to be full at all.

How can I not give this a five??? € 13 steaks(I know, in Dublin right?), the staff are super nice, the seats are comfy thanks to the chunky cushions on the wooden bench type seats. The starters & dessert change weekly so keep an eye on social media! The only constant menu item is their namesake, Featherblade. The menu is simple but don’t let that fool you. It can be hard to choose but whatever you choose I think you’ll find that the food is delicious. We had a choice of two starters then Featherblade or Flank steak with a number of sides to choose from and three sauces then a choice of two desserts. I chose the sesame crusted salmon with avocado purée and Asian slaw to start. Very tasty, lovely tang from the Asian slaw dressing. I also got to taste some of the crispy lamb — which was like a Bön Bön. V yum. For my main I chose the Featherblade cooked medium rare with Bearnaise sauce. The meat was tender, melt in the mouth yumminess. I liked the Bearnaise because it wasn’t over powering. We shared the roasted sweet potato, truffle mac n cheese and there was also an order for the courgette, kale & carrot salad which I didn’t try. The mac n cheese… OMG creamy cheesy goodness — you could eat it by the bucketload :) Sweet potato was charred and utterly delicious. I could’ve eaten far more of them — am sorry we didn’t order more! :) Dessert I decided to be «brave» and try the beetroot and lavender panna cotta with lime shortbread. I know that doesn’t sound like it should work but it did. It was bloody gorgeous. The tables were a little close but given that we were there early on a Saturday evening that was no way an issue. I can’t find fault as much as I’d like to. A perfect example of keeping it simple and doing it extremely well! Will definitely be back(if we manage to get a reservation!)

Located on a deconstructed Dawson Street sits featherblade. Great to see a simple menu for a change and even better to see the forgotten cuts of steak put center stage. The crispy lamb starter was lovely and served with piccalilli or at least an interpretation of picalalli but very good all the same. The flank steak was cooked perfectly and as tender as some top end cuts that other restaurants charge 4times as much. Not a big desert fan but the beetroot Panna cotta looked intriguing and tasted even better but probably not going to be everyone favourite. The beer selection is limited and woukd suggest they look to adding a few other options. Small but good wine selection. No coffee as of yet but machine due soon. No real fault here at featherblade and I will be back. Vegetarians need not apply…

A new steak restaurant on Dawson Street you say? I’m there! Tried here with my brother a couple of weeks ago before a gig and we were raging we didn’t have more time to sit and enjoy a proper three course meal as everything looked so good. At Featherblade they specialise in unusual cuts of meat, the namesake itself being their centre-piece. Our server explained to us that the meat is marinated for hours on end before being slow-cooked and then finished off to your liking. The menu is small but well-balanced, with just enough choice to give you a little bit of a dilemma. We both opted for the featherblade with some beef dripping chips and truffle mac n’ cheese to share. The steak was really tender, cooked perfectly and was a fairly decent size too. The chips were really tasty but the mac n’ cheese really was the winner for me, I would literally eat it by the bucket! I really wanted to try the squash arancini to start but we were pushed for time so had to go without. I did see somebody else get them though and they looked delicious. We shared a chocolate and almond tart for dessert and it was yummy too, really rich and creamy! This place is a must-try for me. I haven’t given it 5 stars as I’ve had better steak in Dublin but for what they do I can’t knock them. So how much did it all cost? For two steaks, two sides, two beers and one dessert it came in at just under € 50. Not bad for a really good meal, the steaks particularly good value at € 13 each. The staff are really friendly, the décor is nice and simple and it’s perfectly placed in the heart of town. We walked straight in to a table on a Thursday night but I predict it won’t be that easy as popularity grows so get yourself down there sooner rather than later!

What a tough time steak places on Dawson street are going to have now. A great lean cut of fresh beef, grilled to perfection and will not break your bank(at all). I agree this place will soon become way too busy, the menu is simple and clear, the sides are extremely delicious, my personal favourite was the creamed spinach, it was divine! But the star of the show was defiantly the feather blade steak. This place is also very serious about superior quality of food and excellent service. The new gem of the area.

Thrice cooked, beef dripping chips! Great new Restraunt on Dawson street. Professionally run, excellent front of house and kitchen. We started either the shredded lamb shoulder and fish and crisps, both were excellent, lovely freshly made salsa verde with the fish, land was dressed with slow cooked onions, yoghurt and pomegranate seeds. Lots of attention in both dishes. Ciara had the Skirt, I had the Featherblade, and both were excellent steaks. Nice flavour and texture, well cooked, and very good presentation. My steak came with a herb chilli sauce on the side, which had a good bang of chilli not too hot, with a herby back, lots of fresh thyme. Clearly this is a kitchen that has a wealth of experience. And the chips highlight that, very addictive, floury, crispy, and beefy all at once. Front of house are excellent, after a very mild booking misunderstanding, Jamie, one of the co patrons, greeted us warmly and made sure we were well looked after, all the staff that we met were enthusiastic and knowledgable. It was a great experience. We were talked into a San Sebastien Cheesecake for dessert, and it is well worth leaving some room for, lovely bake with nice sharp fruit. Great steak, great restaurant, great value. Well done.

Date night just got a whole lot more interesting! I want to write a One Star review because I want to slow down the popularity of Featherblade– I know in just a couple of months its going to be impossible to get a reservation here. Great location. Great(simple) menu. And Great staff. If you were trying to find fault with this place you might wonder why it is so dark inside but even that works so well. The menu couldn’t be simpler– pick from two steak options and pick a couple of sides. The starters weren’t on our menu but our server /owner of the restaurant did a great job of explaining the options. I highly recommend trying the chicken starter. Although personally have never heard of a featherblade steak I would definitely buy it again. This restaurant is up there with some of the best steaks I have had in Dublin and the best part is that it is a third of the cost of anywhere else. You can get a great meal experience for € 20. We did have some wine at the table which again was super reasonable. The cocktail menu looked good but unfortunately at this visit we didn’t have any. We did speak with the owner and his personality certainly added to our experience. Can’t wait to go back.

I’m really glad to have visited Featherblade this week as I predict it will start becoming difficult to get a table soon once word spreads! This place is going by the motto of «do one thing and do it well» — it has a single permanent main course, the 9 oz featherblade steak, with one other steak cut(the hanger) on the menu the night we ate there. The menu is simple but it works as everything on it that we tried was done so well. My starter of slow-cooked braised beef croquettes were really tender and flavoursome. The highlight had to be the main event, the featherblade. The meat was beautifully cooked and insanely good value for € 13. We also ordered a selection of sides, all of which were good but particularly the truffle mac and cheese and the tenderstem broccoli. Our waitress was also very friendly and attentive and knew the menu really well, providing some good side recommendations. The only fault I could point out is with the restaurant layout — the tables are very tightly packed and it could do with some more space. Overall a great concept and really well-executed. Try it quick before the crowds start!

Stop what your doing and get your ass down to this new heavenly place! Stumbled on this great find, only 2 days open… Hot New Business, yes it is! From the moment we stepped in to the time we left, the staff were super friendly, offering great information on the very simple but amazingly well thought out menu. Featherblade is doing steak, fantastically well and when I say steak we’re talking about them using the most unusual cuts of the meat so their show stopper is the Featherblade Steak but special on was the Hanger steak… Both for € 13 each, I kid you not… It is the best value and most delicious steak I’ve had in such a long time. Natalie who took care of us explained, the cuts are unusual but if prepped well, all parts of the cow/beef can be made so juicy and tender so these are marinated over night and suvee the steaks for like 8hrs or so, and then pan seared before being served on your plate. The simplistic approach to their menu is awesome it means all the love from the kitchen are invested into a particular thing and by god, you sense the love on your plate. So we kicked it off with the beef ribs for starter which was on a specials board, the meat was slow cooked to perfection, melted off the bone and flavoured really well; they were big, juicy and tender! Mains, the hubby went for the Hanger steak and I opted for their menu show stopper, the Featherblade, the idea was we would swap it up and so we both got to try each, adding on fries and their whiskey peppercorn sauce it was truly a foodie’s dream. Both steaks revealed different textures but both were, 100% delicious. A beautiful plate of food… Featherblade, what a brave move but you are bringing something awesome and new to the Dublin Food Scene and I applaud you! Tossing over dessert, could we fit it in… Before I knew it I was ordering the donuts which are created for 2 people to share, the donuts are made in house along with their dips, the mini donuts came with passionfruit curd, crème anglaise plus salted caramel. Holy devine, let’s all just take a moment to salute that salted caramel dip — yumtastic! We also had Jamie, one of the business owners come by our table with a surprise complimentary drink for us, so using our earlier order they surprised us with a red wine for the hubby and another one of their refreshing Berry Fizz cocktails. He talked about how just opening and how quickly they’ve got the place up and running plus also really keen to get our opinion what we liked, didn’t like(the great playlist… ha ha) and areas for them to improve… I swear, for a place only open 2 days they’ve nailed it and I wish them all the best. I’ve been already raving about the place and spreading the word, we’ll certainly be back regularly. Only one slight, niggly thing from me… the bench seating is great and makes awesome use of your space but if they tables were spread out a little more. I think diners are always a little uncomfortable trying to squeeze between little gaps and as winter sets in we’ll be contending with bulk coats/jackets and sense some embarrassing knocking stuff off your neighbours table… Little extra space per table would go down a treat.

WOW! This is easily a 10 out of 5 stars place! By chance my wife and myself stumbled across this restaurant last night. They had only opened a few days ago so we were happy to try it out. You’ll be greeted with an incredible smile and welcome when you come in. The staff are brilliant and they really know there stuff with regards to the steak and wines on offer. Steak. Yes, I said steak. These guys have done something I’ve not come across in Dublin yet. They offer you a choice of two steaks. Both cuts I’ve never heard of before, the Featherblade and the special that night the Hanger. My wife had the Featherblade and I had the Hanger. Wow! We were not disappointed. The steaks are marinated for 24 hours and then slowly sous vide over another 6 to 8 hours and then flash fried before it comes out to you on a plate! They were both some of the best steaks I’ve ever had, incredibly tender and juicy, they were melt in your mouth good! we ordered a side of chips each and we shared the Whiskey Peppercorn sauce! it all just worked perfect. I nearly forgot the ribs we had for starters! 2 huge ribs packed with fall off the bone tender meat, cooked in the same way as the steak — delicious! Warm Doughnuts with Passion Fruit(not sure it really has a place in this dessert, but yummy anyway), Crème Anglaise and the best part for me was the Salted Caramel! OMG! everything is baked in-house, you could tell from how fresh and soft the doughnuts were! They also have some amazing cocktails on the menu, the Berry Fizz is really really nice! Usually when you see cocktails on the menu you thing €€€ but for € 7.50 its great value. And to finish off what was already an amazing meal the owner came over with a round of drinks on the house for us! Now that is service! Great guys, great story and amazing food.
