Not sure what’s holding me back from 5 stars here to be honest. Food is fantastic, service is fantastic, drinks are fantastic… I’ve been here twice now for two different kinds of meals. First was ordering from their a la carte menu. I had a prawn cocktail type dish(though it wasn’t a traditional prawn cocktail), pork & sorbet for dessert. The prawn cocktail was both delicious & visually amazing. Huge big prawns displayed like a giant claw waving at me from the dish! Loved it. The pork was moist but not fatty. Very well cooked. The sorbet was about the best I’ve ever tasted — my husband & I have a rule where we’re not allowed order the same food at the same meal & it’s safe to say that my dessert won! The second visit was for their Sunday Roast. They are not kidding when they say it’s the best roast in Dublin(sorry Mammy). We had the chicken which came with stuffing, vegetables, mashed & roasted potatoes and gravy. It was honestly beautiful! The mash was creamy without turning into a complete mush, the roasties were cooked in Drippings so you got the delicious deep fried flavour without all the grease, the chicken was cooked to perfection, moist throughout and full of flavour & the vegetables were the right balance of cooked & still crunchy. On both occasions we still had a good amount of wine left at the end of our meal but the staff didn’t approach us to make us feel rushed & we managed to enjoy our wine while relaxing. There’s a lounge downstairs for pre or post drinks(we did both). The give you popcorn with your first drink & the service is quick without being rushed. The atmosphere is just so relaxed but without being slow. The décor is modern throughout, with the exception of the ballroom which is still in it’s original condition — maintained meticulously I’m sure. Definitely worth a look in. Possibly my new favourite in the city!

Fire stands out in the area as it is a large and more modern experience. The food was very good with a host of options and quality selections. Although the price is steep, the experience was worth it. Reservations are recommended but they accommodated us well. The portions are good and worth sharing.

Well, it’s actually 3 and a half stars. I passed this place out a dozen times on the way home from work, and I always thought, «Jaysus, that place looks fierce schmancy!» and I always thought i was too much of a pleb to even be allowed in let alone be able to afford to. I’m blessed therefore that my employers pushed the boat out this year for the Xmas party and decided to book a room upstairs just for Ulearn staff, so I was well-chuffed! When you enter, you walk pass a very pretty garden with a waterfall, and you feel like you are walking into the Big Brother House. It’s all glass interior, glass and wooden décor and ambient lighting, and people inside were all well-dressed in their fancy clobber. I thought ‚“Damn, I should’ve scrubbed up a bit more. I hope they don’t clock my trainers!” I was gutted that when i saw a lovely Steinway grand piano right at the entrance that there wasn’t anyone hired to tinkle away some pleasant jazz, like a proper-upmarket joint… but the playlist they had running through the system was decent enough, ranging form old school soul to funk and a bit of instrumental… all in all, I like the look, feel, sound and smell of the place. However, I wanted to get acquainted with the taste of the place(we all arrived famished!). This is where it gets a bit disappointing. There was a set menu, and i went for wild mushroom salad starter, artichoke gratin main, and a cheese platter for afters. There were very big gaps between the dishes, and it took a very long time to serve our starters, and the staff were a bit coarse. At one moment, my mate got a very pointed double-tap on the shoulder so that he’d promptly move out of the way so he could set the drinks down on the table. It really wouldn’t have killed him to say excuse me. And I was very disappointed that they were very stingy with the fish in the fishcakes and the artichoke in my gratin. They did that thing that cheap-ass restaurants do which is to pad-out using more potatoes. Not good, considering it was a costly night. Overall, Interior fabulous, food pretty good but not mind-blowing, not the friendliest staff… so a bit overrated. But good. ish.

Wanted to go somewhere new and special and found Fire highly recommended. We were looking some good meat and found their steak menu comprehensive. There was also an intriguing set menu on offer but we decided to order the prime rib for two. This turned out to be a delicious tender cut of meat cooked to perfect and seven with delicious pepper cream sauce and mustard Mayo. The side was delicious bacon and potato cubes and we also got some creamy mash! Accompanied by a bottle of Spanish house red it was highly enjoyable and there was a great buzz in the restaurant. The staff were courteous and professional and this led to an overall enjoyable evening. Highly recommended.

Walked right in. The bar is hip and the grounds are beautiful. Atmosphere at dinner is tops and would be awesome for any date or special occasion on the town. Spendy, but the food and service well worth the cost. Set menu or A la carte. Had to slow down the servers since they expected me to me in a rush. Tried the watercress soup, Irish sirloin, and white chocolate /raspberry cheesecake. Wow. So much food, I could almost not finish!

I’ve been several times to this restaurant with my friends and must say i love it! I felt like a queen in the palace, very posh very luxurious design, however well affordable, enjoyed my steak there with a glass of red wine. This restaurant is absolutely perfect for celebrating special occasion or for a first romantic date to impress a lady! Also very central! Right on Dawson Street, perfect for those travelling on a green luas line into town.

Perfect service, beautiful place, loved the music, complimentary Champaign, amazing mouthwatering food prepared to perfection. I am so glad we came here… their drinks are on point as well… We got greeted at the door chairs pulled for us drinks offered at the lobby for all of our party to get there. Exceptional drinks made to our liking even when we switched them around a little bit. We got taken to our table upstairs and got complimentary champagne with strawberry and some of us ordered the Sunday menu and some other from the menu… superbbbbbbbb experience

The saying goes, the proof is in the pudding. I had the white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake, i must admit i could not refrain from wolfing it down as it tasted so good, I would whole heartedly recommend it. The chicken supreme for the main was on the simple side of tasty but still good nevertheless. The pre theatre menu is definitely good value at 30eur for 3 courses.

I won’t be back. I have been to this restaurant a few times and decided to go for their«Sunday Roast» menu with my family. I was really really disappointed and wouldnt go again. The place was empty and lacked atmosphere. The roast beef when served up was luke warm at best and was quite tough. Although the place was nearly empty the service was poor and when I was finished I couldn’t get the attention of any waiters and had to walk over to a bar to request my bill and then was walked to the entrance in order to pay! What really peeved me off was what they charged me for a gin — € 11.20WITHOUT the tonic. That is extortion and a disgrace when we never specified a brand of Gin when ordering. They pulled a fast one by serving up an extremely expense one. They also charged my 11 year old full adult price for sharing the roast! As they say«fool me once shame on you — fool me twice shame on me». They won’t get a chance to fool me twice as I won’t be back as they have let their standards slip too much for me to return.

This place has been on my list for a while and when we visited here I had high hopes as I’d heard lots of good things. We chose from their pre-theatre menu and I’m glad we did as the food was just ok and I left a little disappointed. I had prawns to start then chicken. The setting is lovely but it was kinda empty so it lacked atmosphere. Like I say it was OK but I wouldn’t go back.

Our family of eight ate here to celebrate my mom’s birthday. We made reservations and were seated in the large dining room upstairs. We had a variety of selections for appetizers and for dinner, and even tried some of the desserts. All were fantastic and expertly prepared. I had the Moroccan Lamb skewers as a starter and was pleased they weren’t over cooked. Steaks, seafood, and salads were all excellent. Highly recommended for large groups, and don’t be scared to bring the kids. The atmosphere is loud and friendly. Overall a great place to have an excellent meal.

My god this place was excellent from the moment we walked in the door to the moment we left . We were greeted by an extremely welcoming host. Our jackets were taken from us to be hung up … We were brought to our table in a very warm manner … The restaurant itself is beautiful … extremely high ceilings. comfy seating. tables spaced out from one another … tables themselves had a wide surface … all very modern and elegant. intimate Appetisers of bread brought out to us straight away while we looked at our menu. When we decided we wanted to order. The waiter came over very promptly and efficiently and introduced himself by name.. Throughout the whole night he was friendly and helpful and professional . My goats cheese for starters was devine … My hake for main was very flavoursome and creamy. My chocolate framboise for dessert was very luscious and rich. The wine went down like silk. His steak was cooked exactly how he liked it At the very start of the night the host made small talk with us and asked what the special occasion was. I mentioned it was my birthday. just in passing. then when the waiter came out with my dessert later on in the evening he put a candle in the cake and wrote happy birthday in the sauce along the plate. They really went that extra mile and I’ll most certainly be back. service and food cannot be faulted

From start to finish you can’t go wrong with Fire. I can’t recommend this venue enough wether it’s for a special occasion or casual dinning this place is a must. The Sunday roast is amazing succulent rib beef, roast potatoes and home made gravy, it’s the best in town. I do love the fish cakes for staters also . Fab cocktail list and deserts, again you must dine here for any occasion. The staff are so friendly and welcoming.

This is really a 3.5 star rating as it’s better than a 3 but not quite a 4! I booked this restaurant as it looked fantastic with a great atmosphere. The decoration and lighting in the building is lovely and it really has the wow factor as you walk up the path. As we sat at the table, the whole thing wobbled and a waiter had to wedge a bit of paper under the pillar. Our water for the table was lukewarm & tasted of chemicals! In terms of the food, both of our meals were tasty and of good quality BUT nothing special. For the price and environment, the food really should have matched. Luckily we ate from the pre theatre meal so we weren’t too annoyed that the food wasn’t amazing. I think that this restaurant has to improve the quality and presentation of the meals in order to justify the price. The staff were friendly & attentive.

I dont understand the point of a pre theatre menu if you bumb up the cost with additional supplements ranging from 3 to 10 euro. Lots of other restaurant such as chapter one dont do this so why so you? food quality was ok but given the price I exoected more. My hake was cooked well but smothered in cream. Crab cakes dense but not much flavour We ate around 6pm so it was quiet whicg meant it felt like eating in a barn. While others like the way it is decorated I don’t but that is subjective. Paying for meal at end and machine ran out of roll so I never got my copy. He did try to reprint but after 5 min it was never going to happen Not value for money in my view.

This is an outstanding dining experience in Dublin. From the classy lounge downstairs to a beautiful dining room, the ambience is first class. The staff was attentive but not overwhelming. The food: Possibly the best steak I’ve had in Dublin. I’m a grain-fed Angus kind of guy, so grass-fed Hereford isn’t my favorite, but I found this steak to be very good and perfectly prepared medium-rare. The sides were very good(mushrooms and spinach gratin) and the lamb skewer appetizer was a great warm-up. I also sampled the salmon appetizer and it was very good, buttery in texture with a perfect salmon flavor. The prices were what you would expect for a restaurant of this caliber, high but not overly so.

hmm. This is a tough review to write. I would characterise the experience that myself and the eight other diners I was with as decent with mostly negative over tones. In summary, good, though inconsistent, food at a high price provided by very poor, inattentive and rude service. Starting off on a positive note, we were able to secure a reservation for nine folks both quickly and easily — for the evening of the same day that we made the reservation. Having dined at Fire about two and a half years earlier, I was delighted to see the finished product of the renovations that were going on when I first dined. The completion of a waiting and bar area on the ground floor was quite nice, felt comfortable and enabled early arrivers a nice place to gather while waiting for their full party to arrive. Getting to our table was also quick and easy, with a nice transition from the ground floor, up an interesting staircase, opening into the very large and open dining area. Once seated, things went down hill… Our server quickly delivered menus and then disappeared for 5 – 10 minutes, before coming back to take our order. No specials, no introductions … and no wine list… Upon inquiring, we did receive the wine list and then just as quickly asked«What do you want to order?» Quite rude. After placing our order(a mix of a la carte and set menus), we were presented with a nice assortment of breads and spreads. Really good. Both the freshness of the bread and the great flavour of the spreads was a nice way to start. Appetizers for those that ordered arrived reasonably quickly and the consensus across the board was that they were decent. I ordered the French Onion soup, and it was quite delicious, a good balance of beefy flavour, onions and sweetness. A not too salty, a common problem I have seen with this soup. After the appetisers, we experienced a long wait(45 minutes or more) for entries to appear. Our server was very inconsistent in bringing our entrees with a duration of 5 – 10 minutes before they fully arrived at the table. As an aside multiple servers were rude in reaching in front of the diners to place entries, pour wine, remove finished dishes, etc. All this while sitting at a round table with access almost 350 degree access around it! No reason to reach in front… While the entrees we ok, there were several that missed the mark. Good on flavour but clearly plated too early. Fish that was lukewarm in the middle while sitting on a burning hot plate as an example. After another long delay with the entrees it was time to move on to desserts. Desserts were ok, however we saw extremely long serving time. While my dessert arrived with the first group, my wife’s dessert didn’t come out until at least 20 minutes later… And she had the same dessert as another guest whose dessert arrived alongside mine! Coffees and dessert wines also came out very inconsistently in timing, some prior to desserts and some 15 – 20 minutes later… Closing out our bill was ok, nothing memorable nor any real issues. As I said, I think the food overall was good, though definitely pricey, but the service was clearly lacking…

Love the location, the setting and the views at this place! Really nice and a great spot for winter and summer days/nights. For starter I got the goat cheese, which was amazing. Full of flavour and a nice combination with the honey and beet root. I have also tried the fish cakes and they were delicious — wouldn’t know what to take next time! My steak was good, I got what I ordered and the portion was quite big too. Something was missing though, it was a boring dish for such a highly recommended place… it was very simple and I reckon I could get the same quality in a good pub too. The fried onions were weird, nothing really exciting. One downside is the fact, that I got white wine and it wasn’t chilled enough, what’s the issue there? No enough fridges? I am kinda between the 3 and 4 stars but have to stay with 3 with potential to 4! Fire, surprise me when I am coming next!

I went to Fire last night for my birthday, and after reading the reviews beforehand, I was very excited. The lounge of Fire is beautifully decorated and has a nice atmosphere, however that is where the positives end. A friend I was meeting was late to the restaurant, so the rest of us ordered drinks, which after 15 minutes were still not there and had to follow us up to the table. We ordered starters and mains from the normal menu. I got French Onion soup which was good and very filling and others ordered lamb skewers and goats cheese which they seemed to enjoy. We were handed a large wine menu, however the descriptions for many of the wines was the same. When I asked the waiter as to the differences between the wines he said he didn’t know. When I asked if he could find someone who did know he said yes, but then never returned. Another waiter took over our table, who also did not know any details on any wines and did not offer to find anyone who did. He leered over us until I finally chose a mid-priced wine then curlty said«good choice.» The service was painfully slow, and small details were off. Instead of giving each of my companions the type of sauce they ordered to go with their steak, they gave everyone pepper sauce. The steaks and fish were fine, but bland and had no special qualities to make them worth the € 39 euro for each. They never refilled our water. When the check came, I asked as to whether anyone had ever found anyone who knew about the wine list and the waiter unapologetically said no. If you’re going to spend your money on a nice meal, I would suggest going somewhere else.
