I came in here to order a photo cake for my birthday party and was very pleased with the result! It costed 27.50 euro for a square 8 inch(smallest available), and I was able to choose any colour for the icing(I choose pink), the flavour between plain or coffee madeira with butter cream and jam or chocolate cake, and the text. Then I emailed the photo I wanted and the date I needed it by. The cake was bigger than I expected and I’d chosen the coffee madeira as I like the flavour of coffee, but it was fairly mild in that you couldn’t really taste it, so even guests who aren’t coffee fans can eat it(I don’t think any of my friends actually noticed that it was coffee flavour!). But otherwise, the picture came out beautifully and was very pleased with the result overall. On a side note, they serve coffee, sandwiches and pastries too at quite low prices which I haven’t yet, but it seems pretty small inside perhaps more for a takeaway, although they do have a small number of seats. I’ll probably come here again to order my birthday cake again next year!

Such a lovely place. Went in for some take away cakes and the lady that served is was just lovely. The cupcakes were amazing also. Will definitely return.

This bakery is a small and unpretentious business. The space is not really well arranged or comfortable but the pastries are excellent(try the muffins!) and the prices are very affordable! They have quite nice offers: tea or small coffee and croissant for 2.5 €, 1 cookie + 1 sandwich + 1 drink for 4 € if I remember well. I recommend the place for a breakfast or lunch«on the go».

Nicely located close to The Happeny Bridge, this coffee shop and small bakery is a much cheaper option than Butler’s — seen across the street. Combos of bread and coffee from 2 to 5 euro and some nice sweets and funny decorated cakes are displayed. The place is very small and does not have comfy sofas but a big mirror and wooden high chairs and tables. Good for a quick chat and coffee.

This bakery has opened 2 years ago but I had never noticed it before. In search of a new place for coffee and hot chocolate we decided to give it a go and hide from the rain and cold in here for a while. Unfortunately, we only noticed after ordering, that they had their door fully open the whole time(with 7degrees outside temperature) so it was freezing cold in there. We were quite uncomfortable on the bar-type of chairs with the cold air coming in but we looked forward to our drinks and treats. I ordered hot chocolate which was made with skimmed milk and chocolate syrup. I took one sip and left the rest. It was very bad. Didn’t taste of chocolate at all. The biscuit I ordered with it was soggy and quiet tasteless. My friend’s coffee however was nice but her Viennese biscuit wasn’t great either. I can’t comment on the sandwiches as I didn’t try them but they are reasonably price and look huge.

I have been here several times(on a Saturday morning), and it has to be the best-value bakery in town! I have the Lavazza coffee(it’s good, and you get a big cup… not normally a fan of big cups of coffee but this was a pleasure to drink), and a scone — all for € 1.95! Where else in Dublin are you gonna get that?! They give you butter with the sone(it would be nice to have the option of choosing Low Low but at these prices, I won’t quibble). I’ve tried the fruit scone and the brown scone(both are fine). In fact, the brown scone tasted a bit salty(which I didn’t mind… it was like having porridge the Scottish way!) I have also purchased the five small rolls for € 1, and they are lovely and soft. The cakes look nice(yet to try). This place is perfect for a quick pit-stop. It’s not a place you would go to linger, as it’s pretty basic in terms of décor and just has 3 small tables and a few chairs. The table I usually sit at is a bit wobbly, and they give you a paper plate for the scone and a plastic knife(I thought it would be murder trying to butter the scone but I managed without too much fuss). I don’t mind the no-frills aspect, as the prices here are great!

I stumbled across this place today after I got some coffee from Butlers across the road. I was starvos and on the hunt for a roll for lunch. I peered in the window and saw they had some rolls pre made wrapped in clingfilm and they were HUGE. Sold. So I walked in and had a look at what was on offer. There wasn’t a huge selection and I always prefer when you can get one freshly made up. But looking at the bread I really wanted to try something. This bread at a glance reminded me of the standard of bakery bread you used to get everywhere in Dublin before those horrible Cusine De France people appeared in this country. Which was the WORST thing to happen to this country before they added a Euro to the price of a bottle of wine. All the rolls were € 2.95. VERY reasonably priced for the size of these bad boys. I asked for the BLT. The guy behind the counter, who I have a feeling is the owner or manager, was really friendly and noticed I had a Butlers coffee cup. «You should try our coffee sometime» «Is it good?» «I can definitely vouch for it and a coffee and a roll is € 3.95» I will be taking him up on that challenge of trying their coffee, but be warned nice bakery man I LOVE my coffee so it better be amazeballs. When I got home and tried the bread it was really really good. The fillings were OK. Standard processed bacon strips and fairly standard lettuce and tomato which was grand. But the important thing is the bread. I’m a bread whore. This bread was up there with Clarkes in Cabra. There was butter AND mayo on this however which I don’t approve of. A big no no. Another reason why I much prefer getting a sandwich made up rather than picking up a pre made one. However, going by the quality of the bread and the friendliness of Mr. Bakerman I am really looking forward to heading back to take that coffee challenge and to buy more of this lovely Irish bread!

From the outside this place looks like a tacky low quality bakery. Which it isn’t. They seem to have worked very hard to make the place look tacky. From the luminous pink & yellow signs to the hawker outside with a board, you’d be forgiven for not thinking much of it on 1st impressions. The food I’ve had there so far have been tasty. Basically, it’s a cheap normal quality bakery. It’s much cheaper than artisan bakeries in Dublin, but not that much worse. And it’s much better than Tesco, but not much more expensive.
