Albergo Terminus

Stayed here recently in an upgraded room that had views of the lake. After a full day of travel and an international flight, it was the perfect way to relax in comfort.
The staff’s English and patience with your Italian is hit-​or-​miss but Chiara was the sweetest, most helpful hotel clerk of anyone we encountered during our entire Italian trip.
It’s a beautiful old building on the lake and very close to the Duomo, stazzione and funiculare to Brunate. It’s also right across the street from the Como water ferries. Our room was very comfortable with an upgraded bathroom (heated floors!), a big comfy bed, good wifi, and a cable.
My only regret is that we stayed in Como and at Albergo Terminus only one day — I would highly recommend the hotel.

Great hotel in the middle of the Piazza area of Como, on the Lake! Great location, excellent waitstaff, very nice complimentary breakfast much better than a continental with fruits, cereals, coffee, juices, etc. Front desk staff were so pleasant, helpful and wonderful! Great location, too and very accomodating!

Location is amazing:
— less than 5 minutes walk from the train station, if you are getting there by train from Milan
— only 30 minutes from the train station in Milan called Cadorna (beware, that railway is managed by a separate entity, so you’ll need to find the right counter to get your tickets)
— no noise whatsoever, no worries, it’s far enough
— right opposite the lake and right by the boats
— possibly the best starting point for fully exploring the lake
Ambiance:
— historic building, several rooms with full or partial lake views
— breakfast outdoor in the morning is unique, «al fresco» :-)
Room:
— upgraded room was average size
— fully remodeled bathrooms
— did hear that non upgraded rooms are not as nice, so beware when you book
— super clean throughout the room and all common areas
Service was fantastic
— concierge did some extra planning for our departure with multiple options, made sure I limo was on time when needed, spoke intelligible English, etc.
— breakfast staff went out of their way to please, bring warm drinks, suggested we took extra food to go, they were smiling and kind
— provided great restaurant recommendations
Food was good but you can find better places:
— breakfast is typically continental but limited choice
— hotel restaurant food was poor
— bottom line: except for breakfast, dine elsewhere
Price is fair
— room rate is not inexpensive, moderate /​high by Lake Como standards, but it’s offset by just enough great points that you don’t feel overcharged
