We decided to try La Colombetta since the reviews on trip advisor were spectacular. This was literally one block from the apartment we were renting in Lake Como, just off Piazza Mazzini. My one mistake is that I did not look to see if we had to dress up for the restaurant or make reservations. My husband and I got to the restaurant and the first thought was«this is fancy». We both had shorts on and decent top from touring around Lake Como all day. We were a little hesitant to come in because we weren’t sure if we would insult the restaurant. We tried anyway and good thing we did. Since we didn’t have a reservation, they were able to seat us in the cozy courtyard, which was actually perfect. Right from the beginning our server was very courteous and helpful. She poured each of us a glass of Prosecco which was complimentary. My husband and I started with the asparagus gratin, which was chopped asparagus with cheese just ever so lightly melting on top of it. It was delectable. The asparagus was cooked perfectly and the cheese just gave it the rich savory texture it needed. The second course was the ravioli Bolognese. We both agree that this was by far the best ravioli we had eaten in a long time. The meat was tender and seasoned perfectly cooked in the ravioli pasta that was perfection. For our third course we had the lobster salad. I wasn’t sure what to expect but what came out was amazing. Lobster cooked in a red sauce with sliced onions. The lobster was tender and not overdone and the sauce it was cooked in paired nicely with the onions. We ended with the panacotta that just melted in our mouths. We would definitely go back here again and agree that it should be on any foodie’s list if they are in Como.
