We’re staying in Corniglia in an Airbnb and were recommended to go here by our host. It was fantastic. We ordered a bottle of the house white wine, the fried seafood plate and spaghetti with seafood. The fried seafood plate was surprisingly good, loaded with calamari, shrimp, anchovies and other fish. The spaghetti with seafood plate was also delicious in a garlic oil type of sauce loaded with mussels and clams. All of It together with the wine was 41 euros. But the best part was the view. We came here at 7pm and got to enjoy the sunset. Definitely worth it.

Avoid like the plague. Unless you like terrible food and a comedy show of abysmal service

What? No write-up for Cecio in the Cinque Terre, the«five towns» in Italy Rick Steves thinks he owns? I found Cecio in all the tourist guides geared at the plebes. They made it sound really good. It was. You can get all kinds of dishes here, including things with seafood and even pizzas. However, why not opt for the thing they do really well? Gnocchi with pesto sauce, which is native to Liguria. The views from the restaurant terrace over the Mediterranean are fantastic, the prices are appropriate, and the service is decent and fairly quick. The last time I was there, with a cousin, the waiter was kind of a goofball and said«Oh, yes, America. Michael Jordan» and laughed. Even though he was cool, we kind of shook our heads at that one. Also, don’t be surprised if you end up striking up a conversation with people from another country, in Europe or elsewhere, at an adjacent table. Lastly, there are a few of these crafty little cats on the terrace that know how to endear themselves to the patrons. These little bastards — well, technically they are — will sit there, purr, and stare at you as if you are their owner. Yeah, yeah, I gave them some food, but got a picture as a «fair trade.» They also rent rooms. We didn’t require this since we were day hopping it. From Genoa, it’s about 1 hour by train. From Florence, it’s about 2.5 hours by train, with a connection at La Spezia onto a milk train servicing the Cinque Terre. Also, if you are thinking about calories, «fuggedaboutit.» The climb up the stairs and the inclined streets to this place from the seaside train station at Corniglia is like climbing a 75 story building, so go ahead and get dessert. Cecio is where I’ve eaten every single time I’ve gone to the Cinque Terre.
