At the top of Fiesole, this restaurant is situated in the perfect place to get a view of Florence. Probably the best restaurant with a view here. The view is good, but the food is fantastic. Fresh pasta, expertly grilled meats and seafood. The staff are attentive and keep the wine topped up. We were here with family and this was an excellent first meal for the trip. It set an expectation for the holiday that was thankfully continued for the rest of the week. The only downside to the wonderful roof terrace is that it is busy, and the tables are quite close together. It being outside, it also means that the smokers are out in force, and it being Italy it definitely smells strongly of cigarettes. However, once the couple closest to us(and who had been chainsmoking all evening) left, all seemed right with the world and we continued the meal. We didn’t have room for dessert and there was parking just a short walk away from the restaurant. They have an inside dining area but it was quiet. Everyone, just like us, wanted to take in the view.

I truly think that this was the best meal I have ever had. We ordered the truffle burrata. There was just enough truffle to make it so that you definitely tasted it but so that it didn’t overwhelm the delicate flavor of burrata. Next, I had the pici with bork cheek and onions in a very light cream sauce and my boyfriend had the linguini with truffles. They were both divine, but we agreed that my pici was a masterpiece. For our secondi, we were fortunate enough to have the chef experiment on us(they saw how much we were appreciating the food and discussing it that they tried something new for us and asked for our feedback). We had baccala with roasted peppers and made on the spot mayonnaise. The dish didn’t quite come together but the baccala was of extremely high quality(you could tell by its thickness and the strength of the meat itself). It was a great experience to talk to the chef about his new idea and to feel a part of the meal. For dessert we had tirimisu(again, made to order… not just taken out of the freezer from that morning) and the cheesecake. The tirimisu was great because it was so unique in being made just then, but the cheesecake was to die for. It was drizzled with ample blueberry sauce and fresh blueberries. They cake was just dense enough, but not too dense, and the crust was like a graham cracker crust but more delicate/less artificial. The atmosphere was spectacular and romantic and the service was the best I have had in Italy. Go here!!!

Situated right in the corner of the central square of Fiesole, facing the beautiful San Romolo cathedral, this wide classy restaurant is well known among the locals and it lures a crowd of over 25 and couples in romantic anniversaries. The place is on two levels, entering by the bar, through the kitchen there are two spacious rooms and the stairs bring you on the top terrace that benefits from a stunning breathtaking view of the city of Florence. Service is professional but never forgets the cheerfulness of Florentine young managers, always ready with smart lines and jokes. But let’s get to food! Their choices is à la carte but they do have a daily menu which I strongly recommend since it’s surely fresh and new. I know for sure they’re best dish is meat tartare, to be tasted with egg or truffle, both or without, as you prefer. But believe me, meat lovers, will go crazy!

It’s been a while since I have been up to Fiesole and I hadn’t yet been to this attractive new restaurant on the corner of the town’s main piazza. It’s been open for two years and is run by young people, and features a fabulous terrace(thus the name) above the building that overlooks the whole city of Florence. Attempts to photograph the view simply did not render the beauty so I am not including any. We ate inside as it was too cool in the evening that we went. The inside has 2 large rooms and is nicely decorated, with very comfortable dining room type chairs that were perfect for a long meal. I really like the contemporary style and youthfulness of this locale. The food was good quality, perhaps not the best ever, but I reserve final judgement until I can go back and choose my own menu: I went last night with a family group of 18 and the menu was chosen for us by one family member so it wasn’t exactly what I would have chosen. The owner and chef are very attentive to food allergies and limitations, so accomodated me in a very professional manner. 5 stars for service and décor. Perhaps a bit less for the food, but a place I would come back to with a small group of friends for dinner up on the terrace on a summer’s night for sure.
