Enh not bad. For Irish pubs in Florence I prefer the old stove(by pza. repubblica) or the fiddler’s elbow(in pza. santa maria novella), but Lions fountain isn’t bad during the day for an easy pint. Don’t expect a real Irish feel(when you have to tell the bartender how to make a half and half it’s a bit suspect), but it’s not a bad place if your jonesing for a bar where the folks speak English. Prices are okay, they have lots of shots for each different US-based program in Florence(most of which are just odd) and the vibe is a nice grungy dive feel. So again, not bad, but unless you’re looking to relive college(after 8pm especially) it might not be your first choice…

This place is so nasty!!! I was there on a crowded night and one of the female bartenders was clearly very sick and coughing horribly in her hands all night! Who even does that??? Especially in the service industry! She would literally cough in her hands then immediately take straws and put them in people’s drinks. After coming back for a second round of drinks and seeing her continue to do this, I talked to another male bartender to tell him what was going on. He apologized, then did nothing about it and when we were leaving she was still working and still coughing everywhere. Absolutely horrifying. DONOT go here unless you want to get the plague.

This place has two purposes. Daytime its a great spot to relax with a beer, grub and conversation with mates. Nighttime its packed with American college students doing what American college students do.

Youve got to be in college to like this place. The one and only bathroom. In there was a hugh turnoff. We were going to watch the Patriots superbowl game there but after visiting the establishment in the afternoon we decided against it. The staff was super nice and for a college hang out, it was pretty clean in the afternoon. But 1 bathroom and alot of people drinking doesnt work for me.

Honestly, for me as an American… This was a refreshing … Much needed find! I loved all of it! Music– food– pints-bar tender — Vanessa(bar tender) so friendly and helpful and English speaking which was a must for me after a night of drinking! Try a pint draft!

Full of American students and young, thirsty men who will tell you they are Italian but are more than likely Albanian. I spent many a night here when I studied abroad in Firenze. It didn’t hurt that I lived across the street. Come here if you’re a homesick American or want to meet some REALLY friendly guys, otherwise I’d recommend going across the Arno for some real Italian bars and nightlife. Bathroom is probably the worst I’ve ever encountered. The bartenders there are all adorable and from all over the world.

After a few days not really communicating with anyone in Florence, I decided to go to the English-friendly Irish Pub the Lion’s Fountain. The place was packed, and there was a guy playing covers on an acoustic that was pretty entertaining. If you’re only in Florence for a couple of days and you only go here at night, you’re kind of missing the point, though.

I wouldn’t think I would go to an Irish Pub while in Italy, but hey it was a hot day and I needed a cold beer… We passed by this place while walking around Florence like all the other tourists. They seemed to have a nice sitting outside so we got one of the barrels and we ordered some beer and wine. Great place to cool off and get some rest. We met a nice couple from Amsterdam here, that was sitting next to us and we chatted a bit.
