Unilocal doesn’t get love in Italy so let’s boost it up! This place was amazing, dinner starts later than in used to as most places in Florence don’t open until 7pm. The wife and I randomly searched for restaurants and ended up coming here(most of trip advisor top restaurants are panini stands, lame). It was about a 15 minute walk from the city center as we had to cross the bridge, but definitely worth it. We got there around 8pm and only a couple of locals were eating there. We started with the house Chianti and toast with special ham, so so so good. I was expecting prosciutto with toast but out came a salami pâté looking dish. I was a bit disappointed but when I took my first bite I was throughly impressed. The ham was so soft and tasty and the toast was perfect. It was served with some lettuce and chunks of Parmesan cheese(huge chunks). Our next dish was the ravioli, the wife chose it and I just ate it. Came with 4 total and was super rich, in a good way. Lastly we ordered the fried chicken, rabbit, and vegetables with spinach and white beans as sides. All I can say is… wow, I was expecting pan fried but came out deep fried. The chicken and rabbit was a little on the dry side but was really well seasoned. The overall crisp was delicious and so well fried. Even after 15 – 20 minutes it was still so crispy, the fried veggies were the highlight of the dish. The spinach and white beans were solid veggies. I have been in Italy for a week up to this point and can say this has been the highlight of my trip(comparing local shops ranging from 50−80euros for two)

Best steak hands down! Everything was amazing. Didn’t know what to get, took the suggestion of our server. Was not disappointed!

Excellent Florentine steak that we shared«family style». Try the beans and potatoes as a side as they are great too!

We are definitely not sure what all the fuss was about. This was the worst dining experience we had in Florence. We asked for a steak medium well but got it medium rare. For those with children, the place is definitely not children friendly. The wait staff is insincere and unattentive. Our waiter tried to get a £50 tip for a 47 euro dinner. The steak was not even that good, and the selection was very limited. Too many good places here to waste a meal at this place.

Chun P and Erica P ate here three nights in a row… so of course, when they saw that we were in Florence, they told us to go eat here. The great thing is that it wasn’t far from where we were staying. We just walked over and they warmly welcomed us in and gave us a great table in the back. Gave the perfect view for the cozy restaurant. We started with the bruschetta which was very tasty and then for our«primi» we ordered the spaghetti with olive oil, bacon and onions. So deeelish! We then ordered the steak Florentine. We were surprised when they brought out the steak before they cooked it. Me: Let’s get the grilled vegetables She: Thatsa big… maybe a salade… Meaning, you both need more roughage if you’re going to eat that huge steak for two! And she was probably right. We ordered it medium, but it came out rare, toward the bone, a little more tar tar. I’m okay with it, but the partner ended up eating more of the edges which were cooked medium rare. The steak was great, and we even added a little more olive oil and some balsamic. Of course, we had to have dessert. Crème brûlée and a chocolate cake bomb which went great with the rest of the wine! It was such a great meal and the staff was very friendly. I believe the owner’s wife came out to say ‘grazie” and shake my hand. I wish we had more time to come back, but it was our last night here. Ti amo Da Sergio! Arrivederci!!!

Absolutely the best restaurant I had ever been to in Italy if you are looking for authentic florentine cuisine. This is a must go if you are bear Florence. It is family owned and family run. The service was amazing, they really take care of you while you are there, making sure to explain the items on the menu if you don’t speak Italian. The atmosphere is very pleasant and comfortable. In terms of food, I didn’t want to eat anywhere else after eating here. The bruschetta with chicken liver patté was amazing, the best patté I’ve ever had. Speaking off the English menu, definitely try the long noodles with pork and sausage, the steak with beans, DONOTMISS the fried rabbit!

BESTRESTAURANTINFLORENCE… MAYBEITALY!(Maybe thats a stretch?) We accidently stumbled upon Da Sergio, a nice hole in the wall, after we gave up trying to find another restaurant… 1) Only 2 other reviews in Italian, I’m the first American to review Da Sergio! 2) Look on the map, this place is waaaay off the main tourist areas. 3) We ate here 3 times… only once was there another tourist couple. The other diners are all real Italians, all of them seem to be best friends with the owner and staff The problem with most Unilocal restaurant reviews is that there’s no prices listed… I don’t care for places that cost $ 50+ pp. Enjoy! MENU 7 euro Spicy tomato short pasta(Penne arrabiata)…best arrabiata on Planet Earth!(overhyping?) 8 euro Pepper & Cheese Pasta(aka alfredo)…best alfredo on Planet Earth!(overhyping?) 8 euro Machino’s Ragu in Tagliatelle… best ragu on Planet Earth!(overhyping?) 8 euro Carbonara pasta… best carbonara on Planet Earth!(overhyping?) 9 euro Spinach Ricotta Ravioli… yum! But only 4 pieces: P 13 euro Roast Beef in red wine… yum! 18 euro Steak Slices… waitress told me it was just enough for 1, but its definitely 10 – 12 ounces of delicious rosemary infused steak that can be easily shared by 2 people as a Secondi. 1.50 euro«Naturalized» Water… clean, crisp, and cheaper than other restuarants charging 3 euro. 10 euro bottle of house wine… GREAT! Or 6 euro for a half litre.(Just realized its cheaper to buy by the half liter… doh!) On our 3rd and final night, the waiter brought us two free glasses Grappa! :D
