Authentic local food. This place is very authentic and is a good place to experience the local culture. We were recommended this place from our host in florence. The food and wine are both good. The layout of the interior was also very nice.

If you are an American tourist(like me), I highly recommend Trattoria dell’Orto! Tucked away in a less crowded neighborhood of Florence, this trattoria has competitive prices, friendly service, and absolutely delicious food. Their ribollita is the best I’ve eaten in Florence — warm, hearty, stick-to-your-ribs stew. The atmosphere is also incredibly cozy and gives you a sense of the local feel: there were a few Italian families and couples dining at the same time, and everybody seemed to be genuinely enjoying themselves. I will definitely return to Trattoria dell’Orto the next time I am in Florence!

I highly recommend this place, especially for those tourists willing to experience the local culture. Trattoria dell’Orto has rustic furnishing, which makes it very welcoming. Food quality is high, while prices are very competitive. I’ll surely get back sooner or later.

First dinning experience in italy and my wife and I should have saved this place for last because so far nothing else has compared to it… nothing fancy here but I’ll take mom and pop style quality of food and true florentine authenticity over fancy atmosphere any day… the people that run the place rock and you can tell they spend all day preparing the food as it’s truly legit.

This is one of my go-to trattorias for a delicious but affordable dinner in Florence. It’s in one of my favorite areas of town, just near piazza Tasso, though the specific street it’s on can be a bit«deafeningly quiet» by night! The owners are super friendly, but not in that sleazy sort of way you often see in Florence’s «pieno centro.» Two of my favorite items on the menu are their potato-stuffed tortelli and their swordfish carpaccio. If in a big group, try to book the terrace outside – it’s such a relaxing place to dine. One of the things i really love about this place, the mark of most good Italian restaurants, is that they WON’T let you«have it your way.» I was there once with a few friends and a guy in the group – Tuscan born-and-bred – asked for parmesan cheese to add to his pappardelle al cinghiale(wild boar pasta). The waiter politely but adamantly refused and told him he should know better. These days in the US you could probably file a lawsuit against a waiter who behaved that way, but in Florence, that mindset is the mark of a place that knows what it’s doing and refuses to cater to touristy tastes.

Our server was awesome, finally great service! We got their large bottle of house wine in red, which was 1.5 liter for 12 euros. $ 16 for a magnum bottle of great tasting, easy drinking wine, only in Italy! Their bread basket came with four varieties, wheat, white, bread with dried smoked anchovies, and olive bread. I liked anchovies with their olive oil and balsamic. We started with two different salads, both were fresh. I got the Florentine steak at 4 euros per 100 grams. I got 700 grams at 28 euros which was 1.5 pounds of pure delicious t-bone steak. And yes, I finished it all! That was the night I earned the nickname Pancia. Maggie’s risotto with zucchini flowers smothered in melted cheese was just as phenomenal. I think Kristin got the tagliatelle with a sharp cheese. I forget average food so I may have her pasta confused. Our tiramisu was soft and creamy. This Trattoria has a Tuscan style ambiance with outstanding service. We had great food and wine at fair prices. Everyone should have an Italy experience like this.
