Okay seriously best meal(s) we had in Italy. I mean we aren’t even done with our trip yet and I know this will be the best. Save yourself any trouble and just eat here. The food is cheap and very simple. The service is included and yeah, they refused to give me olive oil for my bread because it’s apparently a real«Italian trattoria» but after I went back and googled what a trattoria was(I’m American lol) I understood why they didn’t serve it. The bread wasn’t too good but you don’t want to eat it anyway! Save room for everything else. The bread doesn’t matter. Most people were ordering the massive steak. It looked so good. We didn’t order that but had pork and beef ribs as well as the tagliatelle and salad. All made to perfection. My mom and I are still drooling and dreaming about their food. I wish we could eat here all the time.

DONOTEATHERE, ANDDONOTBELIEVETHEREVIEWS!!! This was without a doubt among the worst restaurants I have ever had the misfortune of patronizing. I do not make it a habit of giving bad reviews, but in this case, I will make an exception in the hope of saving you from the same horrible fate that befell us. If that’s not enough, read on… 1) The wine list: 6 selections… with photographs of the bottles. Yes, I know. We should have left immediately. 2) The bread: Bland and flavorless, OK, so we asked for some olive oil. The waiter refused stating this was a ‘traditional’ Tuscan restaurant and would not serve olive oil with the bread. OK. 3) The appetizer: Crostini with liver pâté. OMG, this was truly disgusting. Not only did it taste bad, it was so repulsive to look at, my wife immediately flagged down the waiter to have it removed from the table. I’ll spare you the visual. 4) The salad: Mixed greens with sliced tomatoes and olive oil. The greens were fresh and tasty. The tomatoes sweet and ripe. Thank you for that! 5) The entrees: a) Veal Marsala — This consisted of two thin slices of grey meat that looked and tasted as if it was boiled in a flavorless grey/brown sauce that appeared to be just barely thickened, possibly with cornstarch(?). I took one bite and sent it back asking for the Ravioli Bolognese instead. b) Ravioli Bolognese — This arrived in a pool of oil that I drained into my empty, uncleared salad bowl. The pasta itself was tender and tasty, and seemingly freshly made, presumedly, NOT in-house. Assuming your definition of Bolognese is a bland, flavorless, red sauce with some ground meat in it, then I guess it was OK by that standard. Perhaps our only salvation(other than this review) was that on our way out, we managed to convince 5 other innocent and unsuspecting potential customers to avoid this mockery of a restaurant.

Very disappointed in this restaurant. A week before New Years Eve I called to make reservations specifically requesting 12⁄31. I was assured a spot for 2. When we arrived last night, we were told there was no reservation under my name and could not accommodate us. It was difficult to find another restaurant late New Years Eve! So, I would not recommend this restaurant for a special occasion!

What a fine night. There are many great trattorias in Firenze. We have been having great luck all along and saw the reviews for this place and went for it. Very laid back atmosphere. Very upbeat service. Great food. Pasta, veal, cannoli, cheese cake, and Chianti! Our wonderful host surprised us with grappa to finish. Perfecto! Best one yet. We will be back. Hope you enjoy as much as we did.

Authentic cuisine at a great price. Ask for house wine and the cannoli is a must. The steak looks amazing but we had a delicious sausage with white beans.

We couldn’t decide where to eat on our last night in Florence but we stumbled upon La Burrasca as it got good reviews and was close. When we arrived, we noticed a sign saying that it had the best Osso Buco in the world. The sign was right; my Osso Boco was the best I have ever had. I absolutely melted in my mouth and exploded with flavor. My wife had the mixed seafood platter. It was a plate brimming with clams, muscles and prawns. The waiter said the it had calamari but when my wife said she was not crazy about calamari, he swapped in two large prawns instead. We started with Pici with clams and muscles. Any remaining sauce was sopped up with the thick Tuscan bread. I would return in a minute.

Delish, delish, delish and the host Thomas was the best. We had the Florentino steak, a Penna pasta dish and a vegetable side. All were excellent. Cannot beat the prices. Thomas was so gracious and amiable. Highly recommend.

My boyfriend and I were in Firenze for just a short time and were lucky to be invited out to Burrasca by our local host. The food is all excellent. Simple and authentic. Everything you want in an Italian dining experience. The menu is great and the wait staff is welcoming, informative, and patient. Go here.

Excellent place for dinner with delicious food. We got a the caprese salad, pasta, and mixed grilled meet for the two of us and I can say that we could have easily skipped the pasta. also our waiter was very friendly and since we stayed a bit late we got to hear some stories about Florence. The only complaint that it was a bit hot inside.

We went to Firenze for vacation and planed to try their famous T bone. We googled and decided to go this one, and it turned out to be a fantastic choice! Their T bone steak is 1kg and it’s for two persons. It’s 35 euro, which we think is very good price for good steak. They only do rare and that’s our usual choice :) It is a small restaurant and there is only one waiter. But he is handling all the tables very well. We highly recommend tourists to go there for a Firenze steak experience!

4th of July far from home– so I promised my carnivore son Florentine steak instead of hamburgers and hot dogs! What a fun choice! We were there early– I know– Tourists!- but we’d been touring all day and skipped lunch. Our waiter was fun and friendly and the food was overall very good. We started by splitting a plate of farfalle with tomato pesto and then had the steak with roasted potatoes. Pasta was fine– steak is only served rare– check the pic– but SO tasty! Only one complaint– close to the bone the steak was a bit gristly. Portion was still large and super flavorful. Also only € 35 compared to € 50 – 65 elsewhere.

We were in Italy for two weeks and this was the best meal we had the whole trip! The Florentine steak was the most amazing and juicy steak I have every had. The place is small so make a reservation. Waiter was great, he spoke English and helped us figure out how much steak we would need for 5. Everything we ate was simple but so good and full of flavor. Highly recommend this restaurant.

came here since it was recommended by our hostel host and was blown away! had the bistecca alla fiorentina — since it is their local speciality — and loved it! I usually don’t love steak but this was super juicy and tasty all its own. price was also really good. we heard it would be about 40 – 50 euro per kg to get bistecca, but this place was only 35. we also tried the chicken liver crostini(meh) and the asparagus side dish for veggies but both were so-so. the highlight was definitely the meat. we’d go back for that and maybe try the tomato soup or something.

Heard about this place in Rick Steves’ book. It is located on a small street and could be easily missed. It is small, but cozy. We got there around 8:15 — 8:30pm and glad we did because this place is popular among tourists and locals alike. Make a reservation if you can! It will quickly fill up and they will turn you away if their tables are reserved. The food was authentic. We had the burrasca antipasti(prosciutto, salami, anchovies, olives, sun-dried tomatoes, cheese, pâté on crostini) zucchini ravioli and rosemary pork tenderloins. Very reasonable prices.

Having only two nights to stay in Florence We knew we had to be careful about the restaurants we picked, so we asked locals. This Trattoria was recommended and we are glad we asked! As soon as we walked towards this gem we heard mostly italian being spoken;(staff does speak English and Spanish as well) which was the first good sign this wasn’t a touristy spot as that is what we were trying to avoid! Inside all the tables were full with each of them containing an abundance of delicious looking meals! We ordered polenta with bolognese and a pumpkin risotto which both were easily better than any other food we’d had in Florence. We finished our meal oddly with a truffled egg which was cooked perfection as well. The service staff(which I believe included the owner of this wonderful restaurant) was top notch, patient and made us feel welcomed! We will definitely be back here again if in Florence again! Thank you!

Well I don’t usually fall into the tour guide thing but on our first night in Florence this was a quick step from our hotel and we were tired… thank God for the tour guide on this one… WONDERFUL! The atmosphere is small and quaint. Perfect for a first date. The waiter spoke perfect English and was extremely helpful. The menu was charmingly handwritten. We started with a Bruschetta. The tomatoes were fresh and plump. The olive oil and basil was perfect. The bread was perfectly toasted. We then moved on to a spicy pasta that my wife fell in love with. I had the rabbit… she also fell in love with this but I was able to keep her off long enough for me to devour it. Absolutely wonderful. The house red and white wines were quality yet cheap. I recommend this place. My one problem is the location is outside is less than desirable. Ok the grid: The good: Excellent food Excellent service Very good price The bad: Inside nothing! The ugly: Location outside is seedy. Don’t drink too much wine considering you might get tossed :)

Trattoria La Barrasca is a homey restaurant with simply cooked, simply plated food. The menu and check were all written by hand. There were around half a dozen primi options and more secondi options that consisted largely of beef and veal prepared in different ways. My friend and I haven’t grown the stomachs to eat full Italian meals, so we split a primo, secondo, and contorno. * Ravioli with artichoke — 7EUR The artichoke wasn’t in the ravioli filling but served diced as a sauce on top of the cheese-filled ravioli. The artichoke sauce seemed to have some spiny parts mixed into it, in addition to the hearts, which we didn’t like. * Veal steak — 14EUR A bone-in cut that was served well done. We weren’t asked how we wanted it cooked. I am not sure how big this was, because when we asked a server how big the different beef options on the menu were, he seemed reluctant to answer in either hand gestures or grams. The steak was tender, with some flavorful fatty parts. It tasted much better while piping hot. * Roasted cherry tomatoes — 3.5EUR Very simple dish. Glad to have vegetables in our meal. * House sangiovese — 6EUR for 0.5L A bit too acidic initially but it grew on me. No extra cover or service charges. Our female server was incredibly nice. My friend and I were admiring a large pyrographic art piece on one of the restaurant walls, which depicted a view of the Piazza del Mercato Centrale with the Duomo dome in the background. She noticed and dropped off two free postcards of the art piece at our table. A few minutes later, she stopped by to chat with us and tell us more about the piece.

Our last day in Florence, after some early morning wanderings, we knew we had time before our train left. We originally wanted to eat at Mario(a highly recommended place), but there was a wait of at least 30 min. We ain’t got time for that! So, we decided to wander around, looking for local hole in the wall type places, and stumbled upon Trattoria La Burrasca. Upon entering, we knew we wanted to try the Florentine Steak. It is a small restaurant, with maybe 10 tables max. When we arrived, there was only one table in the restaurant. Upon looking at the menu(apparently the specials change daily), we were thinking of just sharing everything, so we were going to get the steak, and a pasta dish. The server, however, was very adamant that we not mix the pasta with steak, so we opted for a few sides instead. And obvs, we had some chianti and acqua. The steak is 35 € per kg, and as we had 3, we would received a 1.5kg steak. The waiter also did warn us that the steak is cooked rare, but it ain’t no thang. They brought out the uncooked steak to show us what it’ll look like, which got us hyped for it. Our sides came out, and were a little salty, but we only cared about the steak. The steak came out, and was humongous. Imagine 3 tiny Asian girls trying to tackle this steak. Somehow, we were able to devour it, it was that good. The meat was super tender, the seasonings super tasty, and the rareness of the steak didn’t hinder it at all. As we were finishing, we noticed a able of 2 guys gawking at our finished steak, I’d like to think that seeing us table it pushed them to order the steak as well. Definitely a hidden gem in Florence!

Second night in Firenza, we decided to check out this Rick Steve’s recommended dining spot This spot is located in the Northwest corner of Mercato Centrale Indoor seating only very reasonably priced handwritten menu, changes often did not have Ribollita(vegatable soup) or Zuppa al pomodoro(Tomato soup) at this time NO table or bread cover charge We ordered 1. Rigatoni in tomato sauce with mozzarella & olives, 6 € Rigatoni cooked al dente, balanced marriage of sauce, mozzarella and olive 2. Fiorentine steak, 35 € per kg or 3.5 € per 100 grams, we ordered 800 grams to share The waiter presented the steak to us prior to cooking on a chopping board The thick slab of meat is cooked just under medium rare, because the steak did not have much marbling, we found the meat toward the middle of the steak to be very chewy and underwhelming 3. A side of mixed salad, 3.5 € For 3.5 €, this spring mix salad with tomatoes is a steal Good value, adequate service (this entry was written by my husband)

Big fat steak… YES We ordered some pasta and steak to share and we were not disappointed! The wondrous scents wafting out of the kitchen are painful as you patiently wait for your meal. The kitchen staff seems to sing a lot and is readily audible in the dining area. Perfectly seasoned and cooked steak. Medium rare and juicy!
