Coming Out is a pretty cool gar bar located on Via San Giovanni in Laterano, aka Rome’s Gay Street district. They are located just literally outside of the Coliseums’s shadow and offer a full bar and food menu. Our group stopped in after an afternoon of sight seeing and were pleased by both the friendly staff and the ultra modern décor.
Their menu includes a lot of Italian classics and other dishes as well. The menu is very affordable, with many of the pasta dishes clocking in around € 6 and a cappuccino setting you back € 1.50. They also serve up some excellent mixed drinks. The crowd was mostly locals during our visit, but I could see it getting touristy, especially with outdoor seating in the summer. If you are planning to stop in for a quick meal and a drink, get there early in the evening. Otherwise, stick around for when the disco starts later in the evening. Overall, highly recommended especially if you are on a budget.

Gay bar? Ok it is an establishment that caters to the gay community. It’s a Resturaunt right across the street from the Coliseum! And bar, in Rome (for us Americans) is the equivalent of a sidewalk café or small Resturaunt in the U.S. the menu was very contemporary and was about 30 pages long. We were so happy with our food that some other patrons started a conversation and before you knew it we had been talking for an hour or so.
The waitstaff was attentive and very polite. If I’m the area again, I’m eating there, no question.
The pizza, pasta and salad were very good and can find nothing but good things to report here!

Staff was really nice. It was busy there so if you are on break during your tour make sure you order drinks and food right away. You can also ask for you bill, they won’t bring it out until you ask because it’s rude to do so. It takes about 20 mins for your food to come out. Gnocchi was okay. Pizza wasn’t bad but the price is right.

einer der übelsten kaschemmen, in denen ich bislang war. sämtliche im ostblock und afrika eingeschlossen. der laden selbst eher schmuddelig. eher MEHR. die bedienung unfreundlich, inkompetent udn arrogrant. mit den schlechten zähnen und der unreinen haut, dazu in kik-​klamotten fragt man sich, woher er diese chuzpe nimmt. die schokolade brauchte eine geschlagene viertelstunde. war dann lauwarm. ohne die bestellte sahne und unterste kategorie. der preis alles andere. dafür hätte man sie auch im sacher bekommen. beim bezahlen wird man auch noch beschupst. also aufpassen. ich bekam statt sieben nur fünf euro zurück. der hansel glaubte wohl trinkgeld verdient zu haben. das ganze kam auch noch als handvoll kleingeld mit viel kupfer zurück. ich kann nur raten. DRINGEND EINEN GROßEN BOGEN UM DIESES ETABLISSEMENT ZU MACHEN. ABSOLUT NICHT ZU EMPFEHLEN. selbst wenn s die einzige bar ist. dann lieber gar keine.

Really disappointed with the place here. Drinks are eh, I ordered a shot of rum and pear juice and it was awful. It wasn’t even a shot it was just chaser. Service is eh too, they’re kind of slow with drinks.

This was a great place. I came here with my boyfriend for lunch after we explored the colosseum, yes we are straight, but the food was good and the staff was very friendly. Also, a beer that is hard to find in Rome, desperados, is served here!

The hub of the tiny Roman gay scene (pretty much confined to this block), Coming Out may seem humble by New York standards, but there is much more beneath the surface. The crowd is international (lots of tourists) and features all genders, ages and flavors; think «catholic» with a lower-​case c! Nestled in the shadows of the Coliseum, and just down the street from St. John in Lateran, the ghosts of ancient Gay Rome offer much inspiration for the crowds that clog this block after midnight. Grossly understaffed, yet high on charm (you will go to great lengths to attract the ONE waiter’s attention), Coming Out manages to churn out strong, quality drinks and surprisingly good food. Yet despite whoever you take home that night, the staff at Coming Out still remembers who you are the morning after! Upon our second visit, the adorable Errico stopped everything to greet us in the street. Priceless!

Sehr hübsche Männer putzten das Lokal whrd. wir auf unser Essen warteten. Die Einrichtung hatte es auch nötig gereinigt zu werden. Erinnerte ein ganz klein wenig an die Korova Milchbar aus Uhrwerk Orange. Der Service war gelangweilt, das Essen war gut der Preis für die Penne Arrabiata ok. (6EUR), der fürs große Bier nicht (4.50EUR). aber so what:) wir werden nicht mehr hingehen. Ansonsten bestimmt eine nette Bar wenn man sich mit den schönen Pfauen verständigen kann und ein Mann ist.
