I love this place. It is so perfect that we ate here 13 nights in a row two years ago on our trip to Rome. Unfortunately, in early May, 2016 the restaurant had a fire and is temporarily closed so check before you go.

Loved eating here for casual dining in Rome. I have a gluten allergy. The pizza here was great — best GF pizza I have found — and the house desert. Both GF. Also had lentil soup. We ended up eating lunch here two days in a row. Our waiter Christian was the best! Super helpful and friendly. I do not speak Italian but it did not matter. Will definitely go back next time I am in Rome!

A bit of a tourist trap(and a bit rough around the edges with dated décor and a basement style restaurant) — and excellent GF pizza. Honestly, the pizza was as good gluten-filled pie. The cheeses are super fresh and the crust is a good split between a chewy northern Italian style and a thin Neapolitan brick oven crust. Aside from the food, and in spite of the rather surreal surroundings, the service was fantastic. Really attentive and multilingual. The server made the meal!

Italian from California and Gluten intolerant. Raised on Nonna’s homemade pasta and bread, I know good pasta and finding good gluten free food is quite challenging. The location is good just easy to miss if you’re not paying attention — walking down the stairs felt mystical but inviting. The charcoal pizza was recommeded«good for the gas» which I just have to laugh at. Had good flavor but was not for me. But then, I tried the gluten-free pasta special which was out of this world great; Fettuccine noodle, mushrooms, wine sauce, and more… recommend this to gluten eating folks! I tried to go back the next night for a late dinner but found they closed at 10pm. I dined at a few other establishments but found that this restaurant had the best pasta, service… and the most darling waiter — Christian. With a warm welcome, great service and great food, I’ll be back.

DONOTGO!!! Our group of 6 just dined at this restaurant. While the food was very tasty, the service was beyond horrible. When we arrived and the waiter greeted us he said he was having a bad day. We should have left then. From not serving our wine or soda, to not bringing one of the meals, it was just terrible. He never apologized or said a kind word. Avoid this place!

Amazing gluten free pizza! I am celiac and they were very accommodating with a ton of options. Best gluten free pizza crust I’ve ever had! Even my husband(who is not gluten free) loved it! A must try!

It took forever to find this place even using our Unilocal and Maps apps on our phones. We realized after about ten minutes that we had already passed it. Maps has it a street over, where a museum or shop actually is. It’s a non-descript entrance where you go down from street level into the basement. We were seated right away but it seemed like it took forever to get our food. I asked the waiter for a recommendation and ended up ordering the gluten-free pasta with prawns. My husband had a platter of buffalo mozzarella and parma ham, and a latte. As we waited, and waited, and waited, I saw waiters going by with bread baskets. I asked the waiter if the bread basket was gluten free and he said no but he could order me some. He brought me a slice of toast, one side practically burned and the other side raw. It was cold and not at all yummy. My husband’s latte never came and he had to re-order it. When our food finally came, my pasta was completely uncooked. I understand gluten-free pasta is never going to taste like real pasta, and I understand the concept of «al dente.» This was just uncooked pasta. To their credit, the waiter sent it back and they remade the dish for me. I had to wait but didn’t mind at that point. It did taste good overall. I am not sure if I would eat there again — if I lived in Rome I would probably go again to check out the gluten-free pizza.

I am from NYC, as is my wife. We love pizza, with my wife being Celiac the past 10 years have been a challenge. Luckily, I was not scared away by the review from Wisconsin. Maybe he expected Brat on his pizza? The Gluten Free Pie was on par with my wife’s favorite GF in NYC, the very popular Risottoria. My Margarita(gluten) was great. It could easily be served in the west village and hold its own along with the stiff competition on Bleeker Street. I really loved the sauce, very fresh. My life loved the sauce and cheese, and wishes the bottom of the crust stayed crispier. A common issue with GF Pizza. But overall she was very happy. The Prosciutto w/melon was wonderful. The reason I do not give this place 5 stars is the staff pushes a bit to hard, and you can tell they are trying to up sell tourists. Just not the amazing service you find in some of these other restaurants in Italy. If you are Celiac, you want to come here, and your companions will be happy too. The only better GF pizza my wife has ever had is in Milan. Le Specialita. If you go to Milan, you must go there! This place is great, your going to the Vatican anyway! Its right across the square! The Metro stops a few blocks away.

The waiter went from friendly to rude/angry and we don’t understand why. We needed to ask a few questions about the menu since one person in our party is vegan. Our friend asked if the chef could make a rigatoni with marinara and our server begrudgingly said he could. When I ordered a vegetarian dish(Pasta Fagiole) from the menu, the server told me it’s too hot to eat soup and I must order something else. So I ordered the same rigatoni with marinara. To make it easier, we all ordered the same. After our first course, the waiter walked passed our table and literally threw a fork on our table! We finished and poltely asked for our bill. 35 minutes passed and still no bill after asking several times. Finally we got up from the table to pay the cashier without our bill. The food was average, but the rude service created a very disappointing experience.

All right place, but kind of a tourist trap. They have gluten free pizzas and pasta available, and I sincerely think that is why this place has so many customers. It’s good too(the pizza), but 2 euros extra for it? Seriously? They also had gluten free beer, but being on a budget I skipped it. The pizza itself was quite delish, good crust and overall taste. I ordered the capricciosa with extra rocket salad. The ham was good, but there were too much mushroom and the artichokes were so hard it was difficult to chew them properly. The waiters here are working their asses off, and no smiles are given at any time. This is sadly the same all over Rome, but I still keep hoping I will meet a nice waiter soon. In three days, I still haven’t met one. Oh and another thing — if decide to go here to eat, do not under any circumstances order anything other than pizza if you’re really hungry. My brother ordered the ravioli and it didn’t even fill out one third of his plate. Eventually he had to order an extra pizza.

Ok to pretty bad service, average food, Not«the best gluten free ever blah blah blah» Maybe I’m spoiled having lived in a really gluten-free friendly town like Madison, WI(USA), but the gluten free pizza is here terrible. Are the rave reviews from celiacs sufferers/intolerant ppl or just health fad followers? I’m gluten-rich myself, I love bread, dough, crust, crackers, you name it. However living with a gluten-free partner, I’ve had quite a few gluten free pizzas and pastas. I get that it’s hard to do right, but it can be done better. It was pretty bad when we had it hot, but when I took out a cold slice for a late night snack, I gagged. Other complaints: really skimpy with meat/fish pieces etc. One of our pastas was like all pasta with an accidental piece of shrimp, not a dish based on including fish. The meat on the pizza was very sparse. Not«this is Europe we eat reasonable portions» sparse, just straight up stingy. Pros: very decent wine. Nice atmosphere Service: the sommelier and host/owner(the old man that greets you as you walk in) were both very friendly and understanding. The server however left a lot to be desired. We were with someone who speaks Italian(not a native and probably speaks more neapolitan dialect italian, but he had no problems elsewhere) and the waiter also spoke pretty solid English. Nonetheless, he still messed up or order three times. I’m pretty cool about just eating things as they come, but when you need gluten-free, you NEED gluten-free. The waiter tried to guilt my friend into just keeping the regular pasta even though she literally can’t eat it. He also tried to bring out really expensive wines and dishes that we didn’t order which was very«scammy.» I guess we looked like tourists after trekking through Rome all day long, but still… Fortunately management handled all issues.

Gluten free and truly delicious! I had the gnocci with mozzarella and tomato, my dad had the(non gf) linguine with mushrooms and pecorino. It was such a delight to have gnocci again. The linguine was spectacular. For dessert, we had a crème brûlée(gf) and a Roman specialty chocolate and cheese dessert(non gf). House red with dinner was very tasty. Service was so Italian — thanks, Alessandro! We felt very comfortable and could easily stay and overeat. The price was unreal — we both overstimated the bill by 15 – 20 euros. And the restaurant was filled with foreigners and locals, including the local police.(In so Cal, you can count on a restaurant being good if the cops eat there). Now I want to go try the pizza…

Very pleasant surprise; good service, great food and a very nice authentic atmosphere. There is an enigma though; why is there a text on the wall saying«forget mesothelioma not’? What pathological thought is behind that?

Convenient location coming from Vatican City. As mentioned, they have a fantastic selection for gluten free. I had a GF pizza while my boyfriend had a regular one. We both enjoyed it for the most part — maybe it’s just the style in general, but I would have preferred my pizza to have been a bit more cooked on the bottom. The middle of the pizza was just a little too soft. The crust was perfect, though, and the toppings were delicious. Service could have been a bit more attentive — took a while to get our check and get out — but overall we were happy with our visit. So nice to be able to have a pizza!

Found this place near the Vatican City where there aren’t a whole lot of non-tourist traps to eat at. Truly a locals joint, we stumbled upon it because of the collection of local awards posted in stickers on their door. The first night we ordered the Renovatio Frito Misto. It was light, airy, not greasy, included eggplant, haricot verts, arrancini, and some other delightfully fried things. It was enough to share and did not feel greasy and heavy after eating. Next, my husband ordered the neopolitan pizza and I had the traditional roman pasta that is shaped like spaghetti but it’s hollow, with tomato sauce and some crispy fried pancetta or some other type of meat. The meal was delicious if not a bit salty. My husband lived in naples for several years and we visited naples on this trip and had a LOT of pizza. He said it was very good =) We returned a second night. I had a delicious spelt pizza with tomato sauce, mozzerella cheese, sausage and chicory root tops. It was AMAZING. I enjoyed the hell out of that pizza AND it gave me the much needed veggies which are a bit scarce in roma in the winter. Sis-in-law had the cappricone pizza which was good. Husband had a pasta dish that was good. Everything was delicious. It was a little on the salty side at time, but overall very good.

If you eat gluten free then Rome is probably your kryptonite. Pizza, pasta everywhere. However, this place has you covered! They really cater to GF eating. I ordered a pizza and the crust totally hit the spot. It’s definitely a thin crust but it’s also not crunchy or cracker-y. And it comes w/a tiny Italian flag! Plus they have Zatec GF beer which is one of the best GF beers I’ve ever had. And I really miss a good, cold beer on a warm day. Our waiter was very friendly. It seemed like most of the staff spoke English as well, so I’d absolutely recommend this place if you’re venturing around the Vatican City. And get the tiramisu. It tastes like delicious tiramisu!

The general issue with Unilocal in Rome is that Americans find everything fantastic compared to the California pizza kitchen. This place is 100% the biggest tourist trap ever. The food here is a shame for roman cuisine. Waaaaay past its glory days

This restaurant has the best gluten free Pizza we have ever eaten. The Pizza was thin, cooked well and not too rubbery. My girlfriend and I loved the Pizza so much that we had one each! The website(requires flash) has the full GF menu. If you want a near-authentic GF Pizza, this is about as good as it gets. The atmosphere was cosy and the service was good, though, they could have thrown the Pizza at us and we wouldn’t have minded in this case.
